You just... Oh, man. The load you just took off my shoulders in seeing that you were able to pull this off - I can't even tell you. We are expecting a very unexpected/unplanned (but already very prayed over and loved) baby #3 and have been dreading having to upgrade from our beloved Subaru to a larger vehicle unless absolutely necessary. I am so relieved to see that we can still drive a fuel-efficient but still spacious vehicle that doesn't have to come with the compromised space and awful fuel economy of a mid- or full-size SUV. All that to say *thank you* for taking time to put this video together. I will be showing my wife first thing tomorrow morning. :)
We are planning for baby #2 and I was actually already looking at the Subaru Ascent for more space, but now I think we can just keep using our Outback as our main family car after seeing this video!
Great video, thanks, but could you please show do a video showing two rear facing car seats and an infant carrier in a base configuration? I have a 3yr old, a 1yr old and a 3rd on the way. Thank you so much!
Thank you. Watching this in 2021 because I love my Outback too and was also worried I won’t be able to fit 3 kids! Lol I only have 1 currently, but I don’t want a new car!
Shoot i was searching for a video for my 2nd baby thats expecting not 3rd now I will be more than happy to keep my subaru outback lol everyone will fit
Thanks for this. We have our third baby on the way, and were hoping we'd be able to fit them all in the outback. Did not feel like trying to buy another car. Looks tight, but should be good enough for a couple of years until we're ready to buy a larger vehicle.
Thanks so much for watching! So glad you found it helpful. It's absolutely tight, haha! But I love that I can fit them all back there! We've gone and test drove the new Ascents thinking that we're ready to upgrade. But I'm just so happy with the way we fit in the Outback we've kept it as is for now.
Do you really need a larger vehicle? It's a hassle to get into the tiny third rows of SUVs and you are left with no trunk then. You could get a minivan if you needed more space.
@@Jose-sy1je well, we've been rolling with the subie with three kids now for about 2.5 years, so I guess the answer is no. When we do buy (want to get to ten years in Subaru before buying), it'll likely be a minivan. Finally got the wife to agree to that.
Thank you! I was so heartbroken to think we had to get a new car. Can you clarify how you tethered the middle seat? Also which seats you used? Thank you.
Do you think/know if you could fit an infant seat, highback booster and a backless booster? We have a CRV now and it will not fit three no matter what I do. We don't want to get a car with a third row (we already one), but want both vehicles to hold all three kiddos. We are considering trading the CRV for an outback. Any advice appreciated!
Do you know the models of car seats you’re using? I see one is a chicco my fit in the middle. baby’s seat a britax one4life possibly and I can’t tell on the other outboard seat. Looks like a britax of some sort? If those will fit your car I assume any seat configuration would work considering the seats you have are on the larger size
How is the legroom in the front passenger seat with the backward facing seat in the back behind it? I'm 6'-1" for reference. You think i'll have enough legroom up front? How tall are yall?
Hello thanks for showing this. I have a 6 year old son , a 2.5 year old and a third is in my wife's belly 🙂. Do any child charis in proper age will fit? For examples 3xseat like for the oldest kid and is this Outback VI?
How does it work with the little girl going in that way in the winter? 🤔 My daughter will be in a similar situation as her youngest moves from a baby car seat to a big girl car seat.
my twins are still rear facing and we have baby #3 due in a little over a month! could 3 fit rear facing since my twins will still only be 22 months old?
-Middle seat is a Chicco MyFit Harness -Behind the driver the baby is rear facing in a Britax Marathon-Click Tight Convertible -Behind the passenger seat is a Britax Boulevard-Click Tight Convertible
How much space is there with just 1 diono in the middle? I have a 10 and 7 year old and I love the Outback’s but but worried they won’t have space with a car seat in there too.
Hi! Where did you latch the passenger side latch for the middle car seat? I can’t seat to find it and my understanding is that it isn’t suppose to share an anchor with another car seat. Thanks! :)
@@beyondtherhetoric Hi there, if there is no middle anchors does anyone know how they installed? I have the Outback touring 2021 and have twins on the way with a one year old. I cannot find a configuration to fit the middle seat since there is only one anchor?
Hi very informative video, thanks. We have a third one coming soon, we fell in love with a used outback 2018 that we saw. But we have a doubt, the outback model we saw only has two tether anchors in the second row, the center seat does not have a tether anchor, so we discard that vehicle thinking we need 3 tether anchors for 3 car seats, but looking at you video, it looks like for the center seat you use a tether anchor in the roof of the vehicle, close to the back door, maybe I am wrong, if you can confirm this please I would appreciate it, not sure if that is an option, in that case we would be able to buy that one with two anchors on the back on the seats and use what it looks like an anchor on the roof, but not sure if even thats an option.
Did your infant careseat with base have a lot of movement when you originally installed in the middle? Seems to have a lot of play closer to the front while the rear is secure.. anyone else?
Hey Miles. I guess I don't really understand the question. I didn't show the infant seat in this video, but I never struggled with it being unstable. Ours actually had a support bar that went to the ground to keep it from having ANY wobble. And the rear facing seat in this video is just attached with the buckle, but it stays put.
Hello! Thanks so much for subscribing!!! We turn our kiddos around when they turn 2, or if they exceed the height weight recommendation. Whichever comes first. Thanks for watching.
I am looking to move into the Outback from the Forester. I also have a chunky babe that will be in the Britax rear facing seat. Wondering what seat your daughter is in as I also have a 5 year old who needs to be in harness still. Thank you
Anyone have a highback seatbelt booster in the mix for 3 in a row across the back? I have tried everything and can’t fit a booster in the middle! Help!
A few years later, how are the kids fitting in the outback? We are upgrading because our Crosstrek is going to be too small for 3 car seats. But I want something that we can keep for a long time hopefully.
What car are you deciding on? Keep in mind that SUVs have third rows that are unusable and you have no trunk space then. The middle row often gives you more leg space in the Subaru than in an SUV. You could go for a minivan, but it will cost you a lot more.
Considering this car but need 2 rear facing. How far back is the seat in front of the rear facer? All the way forward, all the way back or in the middle?
This is the main family car! My husband has a small Subaru Impreza that he commutes to work in. We are seriously looking into the Subaru Ascent though. Just about ready for more space.
Thanks, yeah I've been trying to plan ahead for potential third kid... looking at the Ascent and other 3-rowers but also wondering if we can keep the Outback for a while or forever as the backup.
@@FollowingFinnegan I absolutely support that. Especially as a secondary car. We're mostly looking into the Ascent because we're heading for baby #4 this year. What other 3 row vehicles are your favorite! I have a hard time getting excited bout anything besides the Ascent.
@@letsgoadventuring5737 You should look into a minivan in that case. I find the third rows on SUVs hard to access and they give you almost no space. I'm actually thinking of downgrading from these three row SUVs bc that third row is just so unusable and the gas mileage is bad.
Thanks so much for sharing. Expecting baby #3 & we were wondering how or if we were gonna make it work in our Outback. So happy to have found this video! Before your youngest switched to the rear facing Britax, what kind of bucket carseat did you have? Also do you know if his current convertible seat will fit forward facing for when he’s big enough? Thank you!
I'm so grateful that was helpful for you Jollie!! We're about to start for baby number 4, and I'm a little heartbroken to have to outgrow the Outback. The infant seat was a Cybex (its a foreign brand) and is known for being pretty wide. Let me double check on 3 forward facing seats and I'll get back to you. I would super appreciate a SUBSCRIBE if your willing friend!
I've only owned Outbacks... So i don't have a whole lot to compare it to. But i think its AWESOME! That's why i've owned 3 of them. We road tripped and camped from Alaska to Georgia in it with 2 kids and a topper up top and fit everything beautifully.
@@WaterandSpirit Well if you're handy at changing out a transmission... you can have this one ;) Just found out today that it's going out. But it's done super well for us. Still happy with the amount of miles it gave us.
Hey Natalie. For the middle seat we us the seatbelt strapped through the back to secure it. Does that answer your question? I'm not sure if there are anchors for the middle. I'd have to go check.
Worst habits and advice ever. Have you not heard of rear facing? It's 2024 and not 1975. Turning at two is stone age advice. Older children should also NEVER sit in a harnessed seat since it's far less safe than a high back booster.
