ProtoPipes are sweet! I briefly worked at a great record store in Newport News Va. in the 90s called Fantasy that carried ProtoPipes and Tobacco Masters or Toke Masters but of course you couldn't call it a toke master or refer to weed in any way when buying or selling pipes or bongs. Shoutout the owner Mitch who was holding down pretty much all of Hampton Roads Va for years and as a result had his store raided by the feds losing thousands of dollars in the process and I'm sure legal battles possibly some jail time I can't remember. He was the first store I saw with glass pipes and still had some toke masters which was and still is I think the best acrylic bong. They had a screw on carb between the bowl and downstem that was unique and cleared the tube without sucking the herb through. Thanks for the video Plant Photonics
I have one but the tip of the pick is stuck in the tar trap hole so I can’t clean the damn thing, think mines legit, got the pp and solid brass only paid forty for it at a hippydippy headshop back in the day

This is absolutely true! But, I ordered mine three months ago? And just came today at my friends house, so… It takes a while to get one. I will say? Human beings answered the phone actually the first time I called to order one, and they gave me a great explanation and stuff like that as to why it takes so long. There are videos as you can see on the Internet as to how they are made, but this as of three months ago? They have 10 employees ONLY! So it is very highly impressive that they are trying to keep up with the demand, so you can still order one and both the original creators are still alive right now. You can also go watch a video as to the history of the pipe itself separate from this one. I am 38 years old and I had one when I was 16, I bought it from a friend who is mom give it to him and she got it in 1975. I can’t say enough as to how much this pipe is really great! But, the waitlist is probably going to be longer as I had to wait three months to get mine. It is totally worth the investment, and as long as you take care of that pipe? It will last you 30+ years for sure.
The real proto pipes are still hand made in Mendocino county USA. I have the proto rocket and love it! It's a high quality piece that will last a lifetime. Well worth the price.

Protopipe: the original owner of the company sold his company to a friend and the deal was later on in life he'd be able to buy the company back if he wanted to 30 years later he did so so the owner of the company today is the original owner from the early 80s
Glass pieces are the best in my opion, I really like metal pieces but theres just something about glass pipes that does it for me!! That and my mom passed her old glass bubbler and glass hitter down to me so thats what I've gotten accustomed to XD
I bought a glass spoon pipe in Bradford, I think it cost £20..and I have to say it was similar to yours but yellow light green stripes . It was the harshest pipe I ever owned. Not for me the month peace too large of an opening. So there.
There also used to be a spoon type of pipe that used various threaded pieces. I think it was made of stainless steel. There was even a version of the bowl that had a thread at the top where you could screw a metal cover onto which had a small pinhole so you could suck a flame through it, while still using it to keep a packed (or half spent) bowl in your pocket. Another screw on piece turned the stem into a resonating chamber where you could stuff a gram or two of bud into and then every time you take a hit the smoke passes over the bud and coats it in sticky goo.
@@PhilLesh69 They're just called chamber pipes, named for the chamber in the middle. First time I got busted was with one. They're kind of stupid when you remove the stoner logic though - most of what you're "filtering" off into the stashed bud is just tar and plant fat since the active alkaloids and terpenes vaporize at lower temps, so its kinda just making it less healthy rather than more potent.
only thing shitty about knock off PP like this is the pick bends when you try and push out the tar trap from my experience, did you have any problems with that?
I just happened to see a video from the LA Times last week and the original Proto Pipe brothers have actually been making them the entire time, they’re just ripped off ove and over again. Understandably though, because they want $90+ for their PP, and others make very similar ones MUCH CHEAPER. I saw the design and loved it!! Unfortunately THC turned on me and i get paranoia and my body aches, so i don’t really partake anymore. It really sucks, because a surgeon ruined my back, I’m in constant pain, get addicted to pain meds badly. I was REALLY hoping to be able to go the medical route, because i used to love the growing process and everything, but it’s not meant to be i guess.😔…. I was hoping to get a PP for my brother though, that’s how i found your video!! Sorry for my life’s story. Lol 😂
@Unsharted Territory that definitely makes sense!! Unfortunately, with the bs medical issues, i can’t work(or sleep lol) so I’ve lost everything and don’t have a dime to my name. It sucks really bad.
The protopipe is a good pipe to own. I used to own one years ago. Though, there were problems with it such as: the poker would either break easily when trying to use it properly for certain cleaning tasks or the poker would get lost easily. It was also a pain in the butt to clean the tight areas that are in the proto pipe.. I like the proto pipe still though, as the pros outweigh the cons. I bought mine at about $45, now it is about twice the price, YIKES! for one. I might get an official protopipe again in the future, but for now the protopipe clones are cheaper thus they will do until I get an official protopipoe.
I literally just got mine and the original people are actually the owners yet again. I will tell you that it took me 2 1/2 to 3 months to even get it because they only have 10 people working for them. The good thing? A human being answered the phone and if you were ever in the service they give you a veterans discount. So I would order one now, as they’ve been swamped with orders. I had one when I was 16 and I am 38, so to include this one? I probably only seen four of them and they are definitely worth it made the same way they were back in the day. I have a cheap with a screw off cap just got it but it open in your pocket cuz it gets caught no issues yet expect that the poker bent doesn’t bother cuz I put it back but others may have this problem tho
by the time i started smoking in 2004 glass was the standard. Never understood the proto pipe hype i mean yea if you're an old head from before glass took off in the late 80 and 90s i could see the cleaner rod and storage being neat, but metal is the grossest tasting option.
Punchbowl /Aloha pipes make the same but better version of the proto pipe. Less expensive than the proto, better quality and usability. I own both, I much prefer my Aloha bowl pipe (proto pipe enhanced)
I own a Black Leaf "amazed", wich is pretty much the same concept as the Bud Bomb is . All these pipes can be used as a vaporizer. Just give it a try ;)
Yeah I just got suckered thinking I was getting an incredible deal with a ProtoPipe for $10. Turns out it said "PortoPipe" and didn't have a poker, only a one big hole for a "permanent screen", and a screw on stash compartment. Always read closely, kids.
I got ripped by a Wish Proto Pipe knock-off. Garbage. Looks the same as that one. The picture showed a real one… but what I got was garbage. The finish was uneven and peeling when new… without a cleaning chamber on the bottom. The stash tube was screw-in… Found one at a local shop that isn’t a REAL Proto, it’s a faux proteaux… but it works very well.
