My dad passed away 13 days before my birthday in September 2017. I remember going across the street to get him dinner and when I came back, I put his food by his nightstand and noticed he was just laying on the bed and he wasn't breathing. The hardest part was me trying to revive him by giving him CPR but that didn't help and I always had that feeling that I failed him. But I am at peace now knowing he's not suffering no more as he had a few health problems including Diabetes. Next month on February 20th my dad will officially been gone a year. he was only 74 years old when he passed away. It happened out of the blue. Unexpected and without warning. I still to this day can't accept it. I know in my mind he is gone to heaven but in my heart, I still feel him and keep waiting for him to pull up in the driveway. His urn with his ashes set up on my desk. I need to release him where he said he always wanted his ashes spread, but I just can't find it in my heart to let him go yet. I lost my dad in 2005. I spent 35 years waiting for him to be a dad I could be proud to say I even knew. He tried with all that was within him, I guess. Addiction kept him from succeeding for many years. However, the last 4 to 5 years he called more than he ever had before. He sobered up in his last several years. His life became trying to maintain his sobriety. That took his full attention and was hard work, he said. No matter how old I got, I never stop wishing and praying I could be a daddy’s girl. You fathers out there, maintain that relationship with your daughters. Take it from someone who knows, the lack of that relationship leaves deep scars that other men can take advantage of.

Almost a year ago I lost my dad to cancer he was 55... had my 19th birthday in the hospital with him and my family... thought he would have made it to his birthday but he didn’t make it... it’s scary that cancer can take away someone you love that quick...

Lost my father April 1st,1980 around 5 a.m., he called his brother & said he wasn't feeling good so my uncle said he'd be right down, he was there in less than 4 min.& his brother, my dad had laid back down in bed & passed away. He'd been fighting lung cancer for well over a year, the doctors took 1 of his lungs but it didn't help. I was a grown woman who'd just lost my 4 yr old daughter in September of 1979 & now my father, I had a tough time staying sober but I put one foot in front of the other & eventually got further down the road, sober. That was over 42 yrs ago & I still have bad days but have a great husband who I met on a blind date here in Wyoming & has been there for me thru these last 42 yrs. Last October I went in for lung cancer surgery, they took 1/2 a lung & I had 5 slits in my back where the robotic knives went in & took the lung, lots different than cutting me open like a fish like they did my dad. I know he was there.

I feel all 28 of your comments,my condolences to everyone single of you... I lost my dad September 12 2020 at 5:28 ,the hardest 15 mins of my life. I found him unresponsive after talking to him 10mins prior. I really tried everything I could to bring him back doing CPR. I knew when he just wasn't going to come back,I just had a feeling at that moment but I couldn't stop CPR,I felt so worthless trying to save the man that protected me and my siblings,that situation I don't wish it on anyone. That image comes to me every day and it's been hard on me. That wasn't the last memory I wanted of him. I hope you know I tried my best jefesito!! I love and miss you so MUCH!! Tremendous songs. Lost my Dad 1 year ago today and before that he phoned me the one and only time in my life and asked for me to move 600 miles back to my home town because he needed me and my help. Government took his driver's license away from him and he moved from the Ranch to town but couldn't do all the yard work anymore and he said he was lonely. What does a only son say? Called my sons and they took care of my companies and projects and I ended up staying with my Dad for 3 years. Tough at first. But after 3 months I just went along with his ways and I took him to our Ranch and up in the Bush in the mountains a couple times a week and we ate out because I couldn't cook and watch Nascar any spare time. At 83 he went from being himself in one month Cancer killed him. He made me make him a promise. NOT TO NEVER PHONE 911 NO DRS NO HOSPITAL AND WANTED TO DIE AT HOME. I can tell you that it was the most difficult thing in my life I had to go through. But I kept my promise and he passed away in his sleep, one year ago today. I really miss my old man.
