I caught my first Crappie 2 days ago on a green grub lure....about two feet off the shore I was fishing at.. It fought pretty good and was only about a pound and a half. ...now I can't wait to catch my next...I appreciate you doing these videos. ..I feel like I've gotten a lot of good tips from you.

I remember fly fishing for crappie from shore. This is how l started fly tying. I went crappie fishing and had two flies one that broke and other started unraveling. I was able to catch my last 1lb crappie when nothing was left of unraveled fly. I was using a yellow Salley fly with red tail. Great fly.

I love the bobber and jig method.. The main trick to catching crappie is to find the depth they are at.. jigging without a bobber is good to find them, but when you do, set your bobber just at or a little above that depth and you will slay them.. Another nice thing about a bobber is you can keep your jig in front of them longer. Just remember to work it real slow. let that bobber do the work for you. I loke to use 1/32 ounce jigs with bobby garland bodies. smaller the better.. anything over 2 inches is too big. 1 to 1 1/2 inch bodies are best. I like the blue ice shad, black tube with chartreuse tails, extremely small white twister tail seems to be my go too's but the thing to remember is if you hit a tree and dont get anything, change the color before moving. it could be something as simple as color or depth that didnt make them bite.. I always use a squirt of scent too.. dont matter what kind as long as its not catfish bait. I use power bait scent but I have heard really good things about slab sauce. I havent tried it yet cause I havent found it. but I will sooner or later. I will probably have to order it online. stupid if you ask me.. Man wants to see it first hand before spending hard earned money.. world is full of junk.. Anyways,, i hope this helps someone. Great fishin.. love to see them big river slabs.. good eatin too... Oh,, and bend your hook out just a tad.. not too much,, just a tad.. you will miss less crappies.. Learned that from Richard Gene the fishin machine.. It works..

I'm taking the kids out fishing for crappie this morning and will definitely follow your advice. I appreciate you sharing your tips
@oldmanpatriot1490
@oldmanpatriot1490 2 года назад
@@gabec2494 I love fall crappies.... If the conditions are right,, they will be aggressive. This time of year I dont jig a ton because they are trying to fatten up for winter.. So it depends where you are located.. I live in the upper midwest and temps can get a bit chilly this time of year especially in the mornings but its great fishing... I use just a pencil bobber and a gold hook and a minnow.. you can use a split shot if you like but I tend to go as light as possible.. The biggest secret is how to hook the minnow... best is way back in the meat of the tail so it can still swim and stay alive. dont hit any guts cause the minnow will be lifeless... the minnow swimming wounded creates a lot of vibration in the water. crappies cant resist an easy meal. I normally catch my limit that way.. Good luck and great fishin...

When you say shore, are you talking lakes or rivers! Great video by the way! I live in Lincoln NEBRASKA and fishing here is really bad, I have to drive 3 hours to catch some decent fish. Second question, can you catch them in July and how? What kind of bait? Thank you
@dominatefishing9641
@dominatefishing9641 7 лет назад
When I say shore, I mean lakes and rivers, however on average it will be easier to find them in rivers from shore in my opinion… I’m going to make a fishing from shore video on a lake soon. Yes you can catch them from shore in July but it becomes a little harder. The best bite seems to be right before dark and very early in the morning. Use a live minnow on a jig or a tube jig.

Nice outdoors video with Clear Water, and great to see father and son enjoying being together. I got two "tips", for bank fishing - structure and moving water - but missed #3 tip? Been fishing off and on for 60+ years, and have never seen anyone stand in the water without some rubber boots. Maybe that was the 3rd guaranteed tip? Fishing means different things to different people, but fishing for crappie just for the sport, without keeping them to eat (legal size and number allowed) is the main reason for crappie fishing - certainly not for the "fight" that larger species of fish provides. But then, that's just my idea on reasons for fishing for crappie, and you're the one catching them, not me. Hope to this next week though...…….
@dominatefishing9641
@dominatefishing9641 5 лет назад
tip 3 is to move around, if you are fishing trees, or stumps or what ever structure the fish wont be in every one... you need to keep trying spots till you find the fish! we eat a lot of crappie. we also catch a lot of crappie so we through some back. good luck this week! let me know if you hammer them!

Don't discount the bobbers. When I was a kid plastic baits weren't popular yet. We used maribu jigs (feathered), it's my belief that the bobber's jiggling along on the surface created a jigging action on the retrieve. Slayed 'em! Just last night my son and caught several on shad like swim baits in weeds beds just off the river channel in a small lake. Hot temps had driven them away from shallow shorelines.

keeps the lure vertical and keeps the lure above the snags and in the strike zone with a slow presentation... also, crappie feed looking up. if your lure is below them usually they wont swim down to get it.

Actually I'm a crappie fisherman and alot what you say is wrong. I fish from bank and I do it all day. And u don't need moving waters to catch them. In an half hour I caught 32 right off the bank. And I use bobbers and I also fish in a small swamp.

The word slab has a whole new definition...here in mississippi, we don't say slab unless they're 2lbs or better...

Does anyone know what country/state he’s fishing? Makes a big difference. I’m trying to learn how to catch crappie in south eastern Wisconsin, about 45 minutes west of Milwaukee. I’m out in the sticks.

Dominate Fishing Hey Dominate, I’m about 25 minutes south of Pewaukee. Used to live a block from the lake but wasn’t into fishing back then. What an idiot I am. I LIVED ON A LAKE! The only fishing I did was bullhead at night, gave them to my neighbor. Some old guy. Always made him happy to get a bucket of those ugly things, lol. Norther Wisconsin? You must have some HOG crappie up by you. Where abouts are you?

🙋 the best baits i use for trout, crappies, and perch is none other than the best there is & that is the Berkley gulp alive 1inch/2cm minnows & the best color to use is chartreuse shad. I will say it's true what they say these 1 in minnows by Berkley well out fish anything and that is a guaranteed. When Berkley did these they outdid themselves which is a fantastic little bait to use for all different types of fish. Of course they do smell in there only one in but still they actually work great if you know how to work them right. I have a stock of 5 jars of each colors. Ever since Berkley came out with these 1inch/2cm minnows I do not use nothing else but these. The downside to using these are the fact that every time you catch fish after a while the rubber rips. What can I say the fish love these little minnows. Don't know if it's because of the solution that they're in or because the action when they're in the water or what. I'm satisfied with them and I've been using them for years maybe about 10 years give or take no maybe. Catch nice big trout, crappies, small mouth in largemouth bass, and other fish as well with these Berkley gulp 1 inch/2cm minnows. The thing is if you do not have the jar closed right it will leak. Just letting y'all know. But I guarantee if you give it a chance you will nail a lot more and even bigger fish.

Ok, I will be the first to admit that you are clearly a master fisherman. But why are you letting these crappies go? That is utterly delicious eating, especially if you get a half dozen. Just need some good breading and fry those suckers up in a skillet. The fish is sweet to the taste and deeply nutritious!
