Great video series. Throughly enjoyed it. I did take a pause when you started and said it was 18 degrees! That was a very cold start to your trip but by the time you ended you were in a t-shirt. I’ve floated the Niangua River in Missouri numerous times but this upcoming May we have a 3 day, 2 night trip planned on the Buffalo National River starting at Ponca low water bridge. I love being in nature and away from human contact for a while. It helps to recharge the mental batteries. Nothing beats nature to bring peace and calm. Hopefully you will have more great trips you can share in the future.

Thanks @ranpat86! Glad you enjoyed. Many more to come. I'll have to check out the Niangua River. I hope it works out for you with the water levels to put in at Ponca. That only runs when we are getting rain. You can always do a stretch further down the river. The section of river in this video runs all the time. I actually just got back a couple hours ago from a 3 day float from Ponca to Pruitt. Video should come out on Saturday.

@@UncleDavidOutdoors try to float the Niangua early or late in the season. It can be very busy during the warmer months. Looking forward to see that video. Hopefully when we go in May the water level will be good. Who do you use for a shuttle service?
@UncleDavidOutdoors
@UncleDavidOutdoors 8 месяцев назад
lol my shuttle service is family or friends. I'm somewhat local. Once school gets out the Buffalo National River is very busy also. Weekdays are not as bad, but the weekends your dodging people more than rocks and trees. If your anywhere around Cotter AR you should stop by OMTC. Its a kayak shop I work at.

Great video, thanks. How do you like that Aqua Bound paddle? I just purchased one.

Thank you @thomasc7332! Aqua Bound and Bending Branches are great paddles and companies. I work at a kayak store and both companies are so easy to work with. Getting into carbon paddles is nice. Buy once cry once as they say.

What kayak is that? Is it a good choice for this?
@UncleDavidOutdoors
@UncleDavidOutdoors 6 месяцев назад
@airwolf61970 That is a Bonafide RVR 119 river fishing kayak. It has a loose primary stability but a strong secondary stability. Also has good rocker in it. That adds up to a very agile moving water kayak. It is a little sluggish on flat water due to the rocker in it but the drop down skeg helps with the tracking. I Work at a kayak store in Cotter Arkansas called OMTC. If your in the area you should stop by, you will be in kayak heaven. Yes that is a great choice for creeks and rivers.

I have the ss127. How do you think it will handle the river?
@UncleDavidOutdoors
@UncleDavidOutdoors 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for the view and comment @thecajunspoon2855. The SS127 is a great kayak but not so much for moving water. Light flow or more open moving water is ok but not for faster moving or quicker decisions/turns. The strong primary stability on the SS127 will work against you in current. The great tracking of it will make it hard to get around obstacles. Bonafide makes 2 great river/creek kayaks. The RS117 and the one I'm in RVR119. The hulls are designed for moving water. They have rocker in them (ark from bow to stern on the bottom). That makes them spin way easier. Pluss they have looser primary. That makes you able to tilt/lean the kayak. Hope that helps you out @thecajunspoon2855.

Not saying you can't make it down in a SS127. May make a better story. Hope you get good water levels when you go. That upper part drains out quick. What other kayaks going @thecajunspoon2855?
