This is a not so solo trip I took with my wife on our anniversary to Colorado. We chose the Willow Creek TH outside of Crestone, CO. The reason was for scenery, lakes, fishing and the option to summit two 14,000 foot peaks.
This is a pretty busy spot on the weekends with day hikers mostly and some base campers hoping to tackle Challenger Point and Kit Carson 14K peaks. We were there on weekdays so it was pretty quiet. Just dont expect to have the area to yourself if that is what you are looking for. Enjoy.
