SPEND 3 DAYS IN PARIS WITH US 🤍
KEEP READING FOR BONUS TIPS AND ADVICE! ✨
My family and I spent a month in Europe (October 2023) and I'm bringing you along with us! Our first stop was Paris, France, where we spent 3 days exploring. If you liked this video, make sure you stick around for the upcoming videos from everywhere else we went!
ACCOMMODATION TIPS 🏢
- We chose a hotel that was cheaper due to being far from the city, but honestly, when you're on a budget and solely depend on public transport, you're better off paying a little bit more and staying near the main tourist attractions.
- The Ibis properties in Paris are relatively affordable and will do the trick. Our room was very small but since we spent most of our time outside, it didn't matter. When booking accommodation, keep in mind that a lot of cheaper options have shared bathrooms and whatnot, so if you're looking for something cheap and private, Ibis is a good option.
TRANSPORT🚦
- We got single use tickets for everywhere we went, as we ended up walking A LOT anyway. If you plan on using 4+ trains each day, it could be worth getting the multiple day passes. For us, the single use tickets were fine though and approx. 2.60 euros per ticket.
RESTAURANTS & CAFES ☕️
- Paris has an abundance of options when it comes to food. My tip would be to avoid places in really touristy locations because they will likely be expensive. If you're wanting to do a little picnic by the Eiffel Tower, pop down to Rue Cler to grab some snacks and drinks. Or, if you're in Montmartre, try looking for food spots before going up the stairs as the cafes up there are quite pricey.
- I strongly recommend BO&MIE Boulangerie, it's right outside of a metro station and has so many options at affordable prices. Although it gets busy, the line usually moves quickly.
- For lunch, it is absolutely worth trying the Bouillon Pigalle right near the Moulin Rouge theatre. There are so many classic French meal options like French onion soup, escargot, beef bourguignon, and more. There are menus in at least 10 languages, too. It gets really busy, so be prepared to wait in line (worth it though).
EXTRA TIPS 🤞🏽
- Make sure you get data on your phone so you an easily access the internet. We used an app called Airalo that was super useful (not sponsored). Ensure you have Google Translate ready because we used it a few times to help communicate with people.
-Learn the basics of French, especially, "Do you speak English?" and "I don't speak French" - this helped me a lot. I found most people to be very friendly and understanding that you're at least trying your best. Don't just start speaking your own language off the bat as it can be considered rude.
-Make sure you have loose change to use paid bathrooms, or take advantage of bathroom facilities in restaurants/bars/cafes as the free public bathrooms are hard to come by and are (in my experience) very unhygienic.
-Pick-pockets are real. Be incredibly aware of your surroundings, don't engage with strangers, and certainly don't leave items unattended. I always wanna be friendly to everyone, but unfortunately we had a number of people approach us with fake stories to try and get money, tried to sell us things, or tried getting us to sign 'petitions'. Since you're in a foreign country and (likely) don't speak the language, it's better to avoid any situation that makes you vulnerable.
Overall - Paris was so beautiful. I loved every second of it and eagerly await the next opportunity to visit.
