It's true - we do have to say hi on trails here. People can be out for a long time and it helps with social isolation. You can also gauge if somebody needs assistance.

Love this!! I just left NZ a few months ago and have been missing these great South Island tramps. The commentary is great, too 😂 So true about the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone you meet on the trail....everyone is so trusting and good-natured.
