Hiking and camping a 24 mile loop in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. The trek begins from the Bandy Creek Hiking trailhead, dropping down into the lush valley of the Laurel Fork Creek. The Laurel Fork Creek Trail has a wild feel, winding through mossy clefts mixed with views of chutes and waterfalls. From there I took the John Muir trail up to the sandstone bluffs of the Cumberland Plateau where I was treated to epic views of the gorge carved by the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River.
