There's tech in smb1 where you can actually move in the opposite direction you're facing. (This only works without mystery mushroom) Let's say you're facing right and you want to go left without actually looking left. You need to jump, and while you're in the air you can move left while still facing the right. But right before you hit the ground you press right again to make sure you don't face left when you're on the ground. You can do a similar thing in SMW and new soup except replace jumping with spin jumping and it will work the same way.
Yeah, it's because Mario can't change directions in midair in SMB1. It still provides an extra challenge though since you have to jump in a way where you don't face backwards. Which probably cheeses most of these levels since it's not something most people think about.
I found that in the NSMBU theme, if Mario is riding Yoshi and Yoshi extends his tounge it is possible to make him moonwalk. If after extending the tounge you tap the D-pad in the opposite direction you are facing (albeit with good timing), you can make Yoshi walk backwards roughly the distance of one block.
I got a cool boss fight idea. Put a big muncher in a clown cart. on top of it, put 2 red bullet bill launchers. Then place a bomb-omb and a spiny on top. Add tubes with fire flowers. Add a key to the spiny and add a key door. the goal of the boss fight is to use your fire flower to ignite the bomb-omb which will kill the spiny and give you the key.
Hey, Ceave! I made a really cool level! It’s a “King Boo Boss Battle,” sort of level. I used some mechanisms you showed me in your videos but others I made myself. So, You walk into the arena, but the opening shuts behind you (a bullet blaster falls down covering the opening.) and your vision gets distorted (distortion FX.) And King Boo Appears! (A Giant Boo on a Fireball Piranha Plant and a Spiny on his head.) The only way to defeat him is to take his crown (the spiny on his head) by getting the Super Star that would eventually fall after some time. All doing this with the Skinny Mushroom power up. But here is the catch: You can’t look away from King Boo. Or he’ll telekinetically kill you (the floor will collapse). Soon after King Boo’s crown is broken, you are allowed to leave the mansion. I would love to show you, but I made it on my 3DS because I don’t have a Wii U. I know, Just waiting for the hate comments. Thanks for reading! Maybe you could make something on that premise? If you want to, of course! I did something for the “don’t look away from King Boo.” Like this: use the first Boo-clown car contraption but put the p switch contraption on each side of the clown car. And put it right over the King Boo. The Door shuttling is the appearing wall contraption from the “Ghost House Ideas” Mario Maker Video you made, with the Thwomp and the clown car. That’s it really.
for anyone wondering why don't look left levels in Mario maker always and should give mystery mushroom costumes in the original Mario bros style it is because without it you cod break the the level by jumping holding left and before landing press right

Here's a tip for actually playing these levels: To reduce the number of accidental turns in a bad direction, use the D-pad. Whether you're using a Wii remote, gamepad, or even a 3DS, the D-pad will help. Also Ceave, I have a request for you. Could you please do a video on tricks for motion-controlled levels? I think a level where you had to shake the Wii Remote(or 3DS if the 3DS version supports motion controls) at the right times to maybe a musical beat would be really cool. Thanks!
Clever how you give Mario a mystery mushroom in all of the designs because in smb1 theme Mario can move backwards midair without turning around. (Mystery mushroom costumes give Mario the ability to turn around midair.)
I wonder if you could use the bullet Blaster cannons to make a Mario 1 level because the Mario 1 theme allows you to walk backwards whereas in real Mario 1 on NES you can't walk backwards
There are so many things that could be added (slopes, alternate endings ,placeable water tiles, etc) I think Super Mario Maker should get a full sequel. Or the next 2D Mario game could have a level creator mode.
