If you really think about it use drill 3 first to introduce the topic of why it's important to spread out. Then use drill 2 to introduce possession. Finally use drill 1 to incorporate game like situations keeping in mind the importance of possession. Hope this helps everyone out. You've got an entire practice presented to you! 👍

YES.......and i can see a great transition to this from a little 4 goal 2 ball for the the younger players that would add to a synergistic training session that flowed right back into playing in a game like situation........well done coach!

Really appreciate the content, I have never coached so young, but have U8 now. Telling them to spread out, or explaining why, has not sunk in, looking forward to trying this. Any other content to teach concepts to your age is greatly appreciated.

Appreciate the positive comment - and happy to hear this has helped you! For more age specific drills I would recommend checking out the playlists on the channel, there is a playlist aimed at U6, U7, U8 & U9. Let us know if you find that playlist helpful!

Nice video 🔥🔥 recently started training my lads under 8's team , it's literally a new team in their first ever season and every now and again you can see them wanting to naturally bunch together 😁 looking forward to Wednesday nights session already!

Good luck with your team! Natural to bunch as they all want the ball (no matter the age, lol) - but once you teach them how effective spreading out is, you'll be looking good! Please share how it goes, and anyway to modify the drills to help other coaches!

@@KSPerformance yes exactly and with them only being 7-8 years old in their first ever season of football it will take time! Will be my second training for them on Wednesday so it's early days!

Our coach did drill 1 for u12 and it was highly effective. The only slight variant was that the coach had the 3ft goals about 2-3 yards outside the grid on the corners. So a team couldn’t just run the ball right up to the goal.

Glad the drill helped! And thank you for sharing the variation used - hope other coaches can use and gain something from that too!

@@KSPerformance my U11 team had a little trouble with the give and go phase (because they joke around a lot and dont pay attention) so i didnt even make it to the 3rd man run but we ll keep at it. It will sink in. They re too static when they dont have the ball so this will be good to force them to make runs in tight spaces and conserve possession
@KSPerformance
@KSPerformance 2 года назад
Makes sense, typically takes a couple of sessions for some teams to understand a drill. Off the ball movement is a tough concept to teach! Think there's anything that can be adjusted to help?
@charlesj.millet6552

@@KSPerformance i used a smaller blue cone in the halfway space between triangle lines to use as a marker for where to stop and to start give&go but also so they know where to feed the ball when player makes his run

If you was to have 5 vs 5 in drill 2 what size pitch would you have ?
@KSPerformance
@KSPerformance Год назад
Hi! When I've used this drill with 5vs5 I've set up the grid at 25 x 25 yard. Typically gives them enough room for creativity but also tight enough for close control of the ball. Hope that helps!
@elvismemphisgs
@elvismemphisgs 2 года назад
Hi I what I do is start off with these but then I add colours So players not only have to dribble out put also DRIBBLE round a different couple cone ever time Gates Have different coloured gates So players have to pass through Then run and say another colour first team to do all the courses wins It's short and fast Enjoy

Can anyone give me some feedback on how these drills go with a team of ±9 year-old girls of varying passing ability (ie. some still learning getting the hang of 5 yard passes)?
@KSPerformance
@KSPerformance 2 года назад
Thanks for asking! Hopefully more coaches can share their experiences…but I would say these drills will work for that age group/ability level too. The drills aren’t overly complex, so they can still focus on making solid passes without having too many other decisions to make, avoiding overloading too early. But they also encourage the movement off a pass as a good habit. That way the players are learning two skills (passing and moving) while working on the main concept of the drill, spreading out.
@ahilito
@ahilito 2 года назад
@@KSPerformance we tried #1 last night and I thought it was really great, the concept of spreading out and creating passing windows became so clear, even if they couldn't make it happen each play. We didn't really have time to progress to #2, but I'll update when we do. Thanks!!!
@KSPerformance

Love a numbers drill, can be adapted to suit all levels, with my U13 girls i place cones 10yards outside box and encourage sprints to cone. Then as a progression keep adding balls, two touch ect. @KSPerformance just wanted to say thanks for your hard work it has really helped me improve my sessions. Good job 👌

I suspect that my u15s would simply stay by a cone for the third drill. They can be pretty lazy when the mood takes them.
@KSPerformance
@KSPerformance Год назад
If this does happen, make the cones different colours and encourage them to chose a different colour each time!

either watching from the sidelines or calling commands from the bench I still call commands when I am watching the game. When I say form up the team must form up and head towards the goal I only say this if the enemy is offensive or the wind or the sun are an issue. If I say spread out they need to spread out and kick the ball towards the center so it does not get stolen. when I call Offsides the forward does not need to be there and the two blockers need to move up or it will place the forward offsides triggering a penalty. and when I say Card that person committed a foul and they should be benched. If I say Red Em that person should be ejected from the game for a violation.

it’s actually fairly easy. you assign a number and have the player call out their number multiple times. it’s their job to communicate as a team to find the right order
