I have some cool Easter eggs in the game that you may not know about. Octopath Traveler 2 is a standalone title, and there seem to be no direct connection to the original game. However, there are several Easter eggs that game developers have added throughout the world.

There’s a second Osterra reference. When you finish the quest for Al involving the book, Al starts to mention where they come from. “The distant land of Ost- ahh, never mind…”

small correction: the main villains first letter in the name spell octopath backwards (idk if you said that, hard to tell) and a easter egg you missed was one side story revolving around the whole cyrus story, The Far Reaches of Hell

I think the "Great Club" staff weapon is a reference to Dark Soul's famous great club, which has been a PVP staple since the first game. It just makes sense - it's a staff weapon that's pure physical and looks like a huge branch, same as in the Souls games. At least that's my take :)

According to SE official website, they are saying OT2 is new world, new tales. But yeah there are many fan theories on what, where, and when Solistia is really but none of those are confirmed.
