Hey Allison you can also use a pallet knife , with time lapse to allow under coat to set to achieve a broken texture/appearance of shadow/ light and or snow .......by using a thin top coat for lighter coverage ..... similar to BOB ROSS !!

You have to experiment to make it fun, I took lessons like that, and it didn't help, it discouraged me, so I teach the way I want to be taught..

You can try a flat chiseled edge brush, use the chiseled edge to make the snow or highlights...go to my Amazon shop and have a look at the brushes I use..www.amazon.com/shop/allisonprior

Wonderful tutorial! How do you get the first layer of white/black paint in the mountains so thin? Mine either come out streaked or too heavy coated?

Thank you for asking, just use a little paint on your brush and don't push to hard, sort of glide down the mountain...I hope that helps..

Alliso, can you tell me if I have to wait for the dark paint to dry before applying the lighter colour or is it best to paint onto the dark paint straight away? Thank you

You can wait for the dark to dry, but make sure you don't cover all the dark with the light color let some of the darks come through by skipping over some of the darks, I hope that helps..

I use a pallet knife (paint knife) dipped in two colors and just pull down. My mountains look like volcanoes when I use a brush.
