Barry thank you so much. I just learned how to play my Cherokee Morning by watching you play it. This is the first song I have learned on my native flute and LOVE IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
As one tribal man to another, this sounds so chilled (especially with the running water in the background). As a Celt, most of our music is on the pipes. But if you can listen to it sung proper it has the same affect. Native American people and their culture is just so beautiful and in tune with nature...the only people in the world who truly hold my soul in their hands. Thank you! ;)
So, I’m half Welsh and half Cherokee, and while I know I won’t be accepted into any tribe, I’ve been working hard where I live to learn Tsalagi, to live both of my cultures as much as I can, and to educate people on native cultures, foods, and life. I hope all of our nations can thrive for a long time.
You will always be welcomed in your Native American tribe. I can’t speak for the Welch but I do know this. Blood is thick in the Cherokee culture. I love you from here and I don’t even know you. Let’s practice our Tsalagi together.
Very beautiful! My great great great grandfather on my Pa's side was a Cherokee cheif and taught me the Cherokee morning song when I was small. Thank you so very much for posting
These songs were beautiful to listen to and soothes my soul. Thank you so much for sharing these, elder of the winds, water, and trees. May the spirits watch over and guide you throughout your life. ᏩᏙ Thank you. I would love to learn more of my Cherokee heritage. I will seek the truth.
These songs give me a wonderful, peaceful feeling. I have Cherokee blood in me from my momma's side of the family. I live not too far from Cherokee NC. I need to learn more about my ancestry and especially the music. Thanks for posting these wondeful songs! - Ricky :-)
In my ignorance I only know one of those songs, The Cherokee Morning Song....I only know that one because I played it so many times...but I lost my CD years ago in my move away from my family home......I am from England but I have always loved Native American spirituality , I enjoy going for walks in nature and appreciating all around me.....Peace and love to all

Thank you for this beautiful video. I am trying to learn to play my flute better an this video has really helped me. I like the way you play them slowly and show your fingers. It also really helps me to hear the songs sung. I would be really pleased if you put up more videos like this. Peace and blessings.

Fully 1/4 of the entire old original Cherokee Nation is descended from Pocahontas and Powhatan, and we can back that up. www.amonsoquathbandofcherokee.org/pocahontas-powhatan-genealogy.html
My grandfather was born in Oklahoma around 1927. Investigating possible Cherokee heritage. In other news, the sound of running water seems to be in built to us as humans.
Thanks pard, my family are from Cornwall and Ireland, so I'm actually Brythonic (Briton) & Gaelic Celtic. My native language was banned 450 yrs ago by Oliver Cromwell as 4 Cornish Lords decided to burn down Parliament in an act of defiance on how we were being treated by the Norman/Saxons (English). So I can only speak a little Kernewek (Cornish), but its a lot like Welsh (same people - Brythonic Celts).
I like the Cherokee songs (traditional) very much. I already know the 3 songs about blessing the water, morning wake-up and the welcome song. I started to learn the language. I read that the language is called: Tsalagi. From the ancient language "Choctaw" (cha-la-kee). Who, that lives in the mountains. Annie/Anneke N.
I heard it was a creek word meaning "foreigners" because the Cherokee are an Iroquoian people and so a long time ago the Cherokee were newcomers to the south. The Cherokee word for themselves is "Ani Yvwiya" and that means original people. HoWa! Do dada go hv i
Hard lives make for hard people. hard people make lousy parents. Full blood lives have suffered much hardship, its been wielded like a weapon by the government and society. The old chiefs responded to the soul of a person, recognized them for their actions. Blood Quantum? This is the whitemans words and the whitemans thinking. But now that the drink has become ingrained in the native community there is not enough love for the children to know there is more to life than its ugly face. Its so sad that the missionaries are gone, the soldier and settlers and forced schools are gone, so many burdens have been lifted from the Native, but who is left underneath? The marks remain, willfully. FULL BLOODS- do your words honor your ancestors? Does your attitude seek to preserve your culture or nurse the old wounds of your fathers? It was never natives who seperated the tribes of man, we are all brothers. The white man wants to make amends, a noble spirit would be gracious. Many whites are now part native, is it now better they embrace a culture of respect and unity? Why would you rather your cousin aid your enemy? Ive got some crap cousins myself but in the end family has to stay together.
Beautiful job for those saying that he is not singing real songs just know that from what I know there is two ways to speak Cherokee, there is Eastern band and Southern band
I am grateful for these songs. Mother Earh's waters running through me is how I feel when I sing this song but I do not know what I am saying. Can someone please translate for me. Peace
BWB thanks, I studied a book written in 1775 by James Adair claiming the native Americans were the lost tribes of Israel in which he says the name of the most High according to the Cherokee was YAH & YoHeWaH. It does include the Tetragrammatons' YHWH. Have you heard this at all from Cherokee past history & songs?
Good one, Vinnie. My mostly Cherokee wife has one she sits in at the computer. I use it, too, but I'm half Comanche and we're just rebels. ;-) We have a bunch of others we put out for company when we need more seating, but most of our houseguests aren't Native, so that probably doesn't count. Hell, according to unicornpoop09876 we probably shouldn't be using computers, either. As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroon!"
