I use screen cast o matic now. but i was looking for something that show split screen like how they are doing for youtube video reactions. You on one end and screen/content right next to you. not you in a minimzed box with screenshare full on screen. do you know any tool that can do this.
For some reason the Logitech software is not working on my MacBook Pro. And I read a few reviews saying there’s an issue with that. So I think I need to find other option.
I’ve heard that as well, so if you’ve found issues on your Mac, I agree about trying another brand. (It doesn’t happen with all Macs, but you’re definitely not alone in the feedback.)
hi, love your videos. I am a permanent makeup trainer that does face to face training but want to do some online training. The first training is using Sketch book on my ipad. How would I share the screen on my Ipad and also record myself at the same time.
Thank you! And great question. Although I don’t have an exact answer for you, I can advise that you’ll likely need a two-part setup because you’ll need a camera separate from your iPad, which could either be a smartphone or a camera. And depending on which equipment you use, it could require different recording tools. I’d recommend searching on RU-vid to find another video, since it won’t be one-size-fits-all, but if you plug the iPad and camera into your computer, Ecamm might be an option: witandwire.com/ecamm (partner link)

That's a great question! Here's an article from Zoom that explains how to use presenter view in Zoom: support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0068635 We hope this helps, Team Wit & Wire
This is exactly what I needed, thank you so much for such clear teaching! Signed up and subscribed to your newsletter. Question for you - how can I follow a script when doing tutorial videos (e.g. Photoshop) while at the same time recording my screen AND recording myself on the webcam? I want to ensure I don't stumble over my words. Or if I record the audio separately, I'm trying to figure out how I would then do the tutorial portion and sync the 2? Do you have any resources on that or advice? Thanks sooo much!!
Thank you! So glad you found it helpful. Good question! Yes, most screen recording apps will have a speaker note tool. I would recommend checking the support area to find out exactly how to implement them. Hope that helps!
I need to record a powerpoint with my face for a class I am taking, so no need to really subscribe to anything (I think). What WOULD be the best, or is it no difference??
Great question! Our recommendation is using a free tool like Loom to record yourself, especially if you only need to record yourself once. Although Loom does cut off after 5 minutes. Alternatively, you could record yourself using Zoom by sharing your screen. We hope this helps, - Team Wit & Wire
Can any of these be used in a live video? For example, if i wanted to do a RU-vid live, could i use any of these to record my screen and me simultaneously? any suggestions for doing this?
Great question. If you want to stream live to RU-vid or a Facebook group, I recommend one of these two options: Streamyard: witandwire.com/streamyard Ecamm: witandwire.com/ecamm
Hello, just curious. Say I wanted to record (or film) something like showing a screen of Aweber because I want to demonstrate how to create a landing page in Aweber. I would have to move my mouse to show where to click for the steps. It may mean going down the Aweber screen or even going to a next page. Can you do that with Loom or Descript? thanks
Without scope and future of result , It is very time consuming job about creating account filling info and mantain courses. Can you send the link about its feature and scope.
Hello! Thanks for your informative videos! Is there a way to record myself for a class presentation where I'm not just a thumbnail? Ideally, I would like to be able to adjust the view so that I'm half of the screen and my screen share is the other. Thank you!
Great question! You can customize the arrangement of screen vs. camera most flexibly using Descript, including a 50/50 side by side: witandwire.com/descript I hope that helps!
Hi Melissa, I´m trying to figure out what´s the best format for my first online course. The first option is myself in a circle narrating the course and powerpoint slides as a background, as it is on regulations and has text to be shown, but I´m afraid this is an old fashioned style. Any suggestion or this is a way to go?
Great question! We'd recommend watching our full comparison video: 7 Best Online Course Creation Platforms in 2024 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eTzGAIzP3sc.html And we'd recommend downloading our Course Creation Toolkit. It has side-by-side comparisons of top course creation platforms: witandwire.com/download-course-creation-toolkit/ We hope this helps, Team Wit & Wire ✨
Great question. Many of the tools do support sizing, but a lot of creators also record natively using their smartphone cameras. If you prefer to record social media videos from your desktop, I might recommend one of these two options: witandwire.com/descript witandwire.com/cleanshot (Mac only; no editing)
Good question! Unfortunately, I'm not 100% sure about this. I would recommend checking out the support articles in the platform you're most interested in. Team Wit & Wire
It depends on which tool you used to create the transcript and how you’ve shared it. For example, in Descript, yes, you can edit the transcript. (witandwire.com/descript)
Great question. I don’t typically recommend recording on your phone and your computer at the same time, since it’s much easier to use a video that’s plugged into your computer for a screenshare recording. So that’s my best recommendation. And if you really wanted to use your phone as a camera, I would find a way to plug it into your computer.
Great question. Descript doesn’t have the drawing feature that allows you to write onscreen during a recording, but they do have far more editing options post-recording, including things like adding shapes, arrows, and transitions to your videos.
Good question! I know that some of these platforms have filters, but I would recommend searching this question in the support area for the platform you're most interested in. Team Wit & Wire
One important question you didn't address is cost ... I downloaded loom and was watching another video of yours on it but for the monthly plan, do you have to commit to a year or can you just go month by month? description seems to be more of a montlhly plan, do you know if you can just go monthly on loom and cancel anytime?
Good question! If you need more than the starter plan (which is up to 25, 5 minute videos for free), then you can upgrade to another plan and yes, you can pay for these plans monthly. You can view the plans here: support.loom.com/hc/en-us/articles/9700191295261-Plans-available Team Wit & Wire.
You can record in Zoom for longer than 2 minutes even on the free version of Zoom. We recommend reaching out to the Zoom support center if you're having technical issues recording longer than 2 minutes. Not to be confused with Loom, which only allows a 5-minute recording on the free version. We hope this helps, - Team Wit & Wire
Hi there. I am a few steps further than this video and still full of questions. Maybe you can help with the following: - my course shall be available for closed cohorts. Meaning one cohort might start on Dec 1. The course takes 7 weeks. And it’s drip fed weekly content. Question: how do I set up the next course? The course which starts on Feb 2nd with new people? They all shall have lifetime access. Would you duplicate the whole course so that it provides with different urls, which are then used for marketing. How would you do it? Maybe I can’t see the forest for the trees!
Hi Julia, thanks for your message! Your strategy sounds like it could work. In fact, if you haven't already watched the Wit & Wire RU-vid video titled "Full Tutorial: How to Create & Sell Online Courses with Teachable," I think it might even provide some additional insight. If you would like more in-depth consulting, we're opening doors to a new program for current course creators soon. I would also like to invite you to join the Automate & Scale wait list via the site listed below to receive more info this month: witandwire.com/courses I hope this helps, and hope to see you inside the program! - Amber, Team Wit & Wire
When I use zoom, everything looks good while recording, but then when I export and upload it looks low quality and gets labeled SD. Any ideas what I could do? I'm going to shoot my face with my phone separately and my screen share via zoom and iPad and see if that helps. Thanks!
Great question. It’s tough to say without looking at any individual tech stack, but in general, recording locally (ie not over the internet, like Zoom) will usually give you the best chance of your highest video quality. Beyond that, like you said, changing your camera is going to have the biggest impact.
Thanks so much! Good point about how it would help to cut out the internet connection aspect. I also found a weird workaround where I can export the zoom video in 720. Open a new imovie project with a 1080 clip. I import the 720 zoom clip and then it lets me delete the original 1080 clip and export the prevoius 720 clips as 1080 and it looks better. Thanks for your help! @@witandwire
Great question. I don’t know of one personally, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. My hunch is that it’s rare that people are recording a screen as well as their camera on a screen that size, especially since you’d need to use the phone screen to operate it, which would put the camera very close to your face. So I’d be surprised if it’s possible, but that’s just a hunch.
Thank you for this informative video. You did a very good job of presenting all the different software and options. May I ask what program did you use to include the banner on the left side of your screen at 0:35?
We have a free video toolkit for course creators that includes the exact cameras, lighting, equipment, & editing software I recommend to create slides, record footage, and edit online course videos for course creators at any budget. Why does Loom upload to Cloud? That could be a problem for those using Mobile data like Me with the laptop tethered to the Tablets internet. I think a better option for Me is to just record a video of My face on a phone and do screan capture and add the two together after.
Loom is best for people recording screenshare videos on a computer connected to wi-fi, I'd agree with that. If the method of recording on your phone works better for you, I'd go with it! There are plenty of great options that can work, and each suits different people.
Why does nearly everbody go blah blah blah about the video then go "Hi my name is" omg ! It is pargetic just introduce yourself first like a normal person. Does ut really take that long NO !
I need to do tabletop tutorials and see it on my laptop screen so I can see if I’m in camera or what I’m doing. Also my iPhone makes me record horizontal which is a smaller screen. Editing advice? Thank you.
Great question. If you want to edit on your iPhone, you might try CapCut. Otherwise, you might Airdrop or otherwise move your recordings to your computer if you want a wider screen to work on.
Great question! For Macs, Melissa uses a MacBook Pro rather than a MacBook Air. You can see the differences in this review: www.tomsguide.com/best-picks/best-macbook For PCs or alternatives, you can see this review: www.rtings.com/laptop/reviews/best/by-usage/business We hope this helps, Team Wit & Wire
Hello, are you familiar with LumaFusion or Final Cut Pro? I own both of these already ... wondering if doing this is possible with either of them. Thanks.
I’m not familiar with LumaFusion, but yes, you can likely use Final Cut Pro. (Definitely yes for editing, but I’m less familiar with their recording capabilities.)
Great question! I recommend checking out our video on How to Record & Edit your Online course here for some tips: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PnGpyRlj3Mk.html
Hello Wit & Wire, I requested the video toolkit but never received the email/download, I'm really excited about your offer; how do I gain access? Thank you in advance.

This is the video that I have been looking for. Thank you Melissa! Can you tell me how to point your camera so that your eyes keep looking at the camera while reading your presentation power point?
You’re welcome! I’m glad it was helpful. And great question. It’s not something I do personally, but I know Descript has that technology: witandwire.com/descript
Thank you for the video! Loom looks so much like Canva. I haven't used Loom before, but I have with Canva. I am wondering what are the differences? Any suggestions greatly appreciate :)
Great question! Loom is a screen recording tool, while Canva is a graphic design tool. Canva does include a recording feature (similar to Loom) for presentations, but you can’t record anything outside of Canva, and you also can’t do basic edits. In Loom, you have more video options, but you don’t actually create any designs. I hope that helps.
Hello, I like your video. What I want to do is to record my screen and record my voice. I want to login into my AWeber account and explain to my audience how to setup an autoresponder. I would like to record moving the mouse as I explain what to click. Can do this with loom or zoom? Which is easier? Thanks
Great question. I would recommend Loom (witandwire.com/loom) because it creates sharable recordings, while Zoom is better for live events. With Loom, you’ll get a sharable link and a page where your video lives on a landing page, or you can choose to embed it on a landing page on your own site. But with Zoom, you’d most likely have to download the recording and host it elsewhere. I hope that helps!
I find it hard to add videos in the middle of an existing video for my course- do you know how to do it or any edit software you can recommend=?Loom doesn't allow me to do that. Thanks
Hi there, thank you for this video. I had so much trouble with Descript. It would stop recording at 40 seconds no matter what I did. Customer service was horrible. I even went and purchased more memory and RAM but nothing. I wanted it because of all the features, especially the way you can edit through text. Is there anything you can think of that might be an issue? I use Windows 10 on my PC. Or, are there any other recording for computer/face that do the same thing? I used the free version of loom, but it doesn't have as many features as Descript. Thanks for any information. I am using this to create an online course.
Hi Linda! I’m so sorry to hear you had trouble with Descript. Without being able to see your computer and your specific use case, it would be hard for me to diagnose the problem, unfortunately. I’ve typically had good experiences with their customer support team, so that’s usually who I would recommend reaching out to to help you troubleshoot, or see if someone tech savvy in your life might be able to help you take a look.
Hi James, Here are a few recommendations for you: You may have already seen this: Step-By-Step Tutorial: Recording & Editing Your Podcast in Descript ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hLEfs8sM_K0.html And we also have a full tutorial and comprehensive review of Descript over on the Wit & Wire blog: witandwire.com/descript-tutorial/ I hope this helps, Spring at Team Wit & Wire ✨
This was super helpful! Do you know if there is a way to switch between having my camera be the main video on the screen during the portions when I am not doing an on-screen tutorial? Sort of like you at the beginning of this video. I have videos where I want to the video to show: just me, me plus screen share, and then just me again. I couldn't tell if this is possible with the descript Thanks for such a clear tutorial!
Great question. I believe this is now possible in Descript with their new Scenes tool, but you could also try witandwire.com/ecamm or witandwire.com/tella
Great question. They shouldn’t be able to record without your consent, although they might be able to initiate a recording that displays a notice on your screen.
Great question. If you’re looking for 2+ people to present in the same video, you’ll need a tool that allows remote recording. Of this list, Descript (witandwire.com/descript) and Zoom have that option, as well as Ecamm (witandwire.com/ecamm) and Screenflow (witandwire.com/screenflow) on different paid plans.
Love your video, very informative. Thought about this for a class I want to teach, but was confused on how to go about shooting video and sharing my screen with members and how to add member fees for private meetings for those who pay membership fees). I will try these softwares, but first I have to get myself a computer. I will definitely check them all out and select from my favorites !😊
Would any of these tools also record two camera's at the same time and give the options to alternate between the two views, just to add more interest ?
Great question. It’s not possible with Loom, and I also don’t think it’s possible with Descript unless you get a bit clever. (You can easily upload multiple video tracks and edit them in Descript, but I haven’t tried a two-camera setup to know if it’s functional.) Screenflow works, and Zoom might work if one of your cameras “called in,” although I don’t think I’d recommend it. Another option is Ecamm: witandwire.com/ecamm, which I have a feeling might be the most intuitive. I hope that helps!
Great video! Thank you for the information, it’s very helpful. It seems you showed a slide show with a video would these programs still work the same for commenting on RU-vid or TikTok videos? Where you can start and stop the RU-vid video on your screen while you continue to speak as a floating head in the corner. Or are their other programs that might be better for that? Thank you.
@@witandwire I think I asked a silly question now that I think about it I was searching for the ability to place your talking head over a video in order to discuss or critique a video and have your face in the corner. Her video says “record your screen” so I imagine all of these programs work regardless of what is on your screen whether it’s a slide show or a video. Just had to get out of my own way. lol Thank you for responding though! 😊
Thank you so much for your tutorials. You are amazing at explaining things in a way it’s easy to digest. Btw, can you creat how you setup your camera and if you use any prompt tools or do you have a monitor you read from when going through your content??? I find myself struggling with that no matter how many times I go over it.
Thank you! I’m so glad to hear our content has been useful. And that’s a great question. For most videos, I prep notes in advance, but I don’t read off a teleprompter. (I definitely have in the past though, and it works really well for a lot of video creators.) My favorite app is called “Teleprompter” if you have an iPhone and search in the app store. For a computer, I like witandwire.com/bigvu
Thank you for all these very helpful and informative videos! Love them! Some questions: Where would you ‘share’ the videos with customers if doing online course - in a page on your website? Which one of these allows you to upload a video and when customers view it they do not have access to the rewind or fast forward buttons? And lastly can you pls do a tutorial on best software, tips etc for group coaching in a paid program? Thank you!
Good questions! You would share videos with students in the course creation platform that you will be using to host your course. View our course creation platform comparison here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eTzGAIzP3sc.html Download the online course creation toolkit here: witandwire.com/download-course-creation-toolkit/ Any of these videos will allow students to rewind or fast forward. And thank you for the video suggestion! -Team Wit & Wire
@@witandwire So helpful. Thank you! I will look into the recommended resources. My question for the rewind and fast forward was - for customers/students NOT to be able to do that. So the only option would be play or pause. Is this a setting do you think in these platforms?
I use Zoom for online meetings and screenshare and your tips on Loom and Descript look very interesting. Great content 🔥 ... Thanks for inspiring Melissa)
Thanks for your kind sharing, Melissa. I have one question: While i am doing screenrecording presentation , how do i maintain a presentation notes somewhere i can also view? Does the tools cater for this or i need a workaround method?
You're welcome! Good question! Yes, most screen recording apps will have a speaker note tool. I would recommend checking the support area to find out exactly how to implement them.
Great question! This was added in post-production by our RU-vid editor. I believe my video editor uses Adobe Premiere Pro. That said, you can create a similar effect in either of these two programs which might be simpler: witandwire.com/tella (use code WITANDWIRE to save 30%) witandwire.com/screenstudio
When you create your slide presentation, you can create as many slides as needed. So if there is too much info on one slide, I usually recommend splitting it into 2+ slides to make it easier to follow. - Spring, Team Wit & Wire
If you’re wondering about notes in Zoom (i.e. the chat), none of Zoom’s controls or the chat will appear in any of your recordings. For any other tool, your screen recorder will record exactly what you see onscreen within the rectangle you set for recording. So if there are notes onscreen, you’ll see them. Some tools (like witandwire.com) do offer hidden space to write speaker notes, which don’t appear in the video.
For my students, we have a student community space where you can start discussions, celebrate wins, and share feedback with each other built in Circle: witandwire.com/circle You can learn more about Circle in this tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7gx7z5wr_5Q.htmlsi=tz1DKF6CSgKltmH_
What a great video. It's filled with just about everything I needed, both technically, as well as inspirationally in that after watching I was able to feel like 'I can do this'. Thanks so much for this info!!
Great question! It isn't possible with Loom or Zoom, but there are a few more flexible options with Descript (witandwire.com/descript) and to an extent, Screenflow. But if you're looking for that option as a core feature, I might recommend something like Tella (witandwire.com/tella)
Thank you for being so professional and for your excellent guide to which minute each demo is located. I am so tired of the people with their irrelevant personal stories.
