Conditions had not improved much as daylight broke on Sunday 18th January 1987 but BR had got the measure of the poor weather and just about everything was running as booked with no diesel assistance. Local news reports indicated snow was particularly bad on the Isle of Grain so we headed in that direction and found a location adjacent to the Ridham Dock branch. A 4-Vep calls briefly at Swale Halt then heads out over the Kingsferry bridge on it's way to Sheerness. We managed to ground the car - a Mk2 VW Scirocco 'Storm' - in the snow at Queenborough and miss the return working but it provided a laugh as the snow mats that had always got in the way in the boot finally had a use! After that we went in search of something more interesting and just grabbed a shot of EPB's at Teynham, before setting off to Faversham for a while where we see several services coming and going. Diesel locomotives had helped out the DEMU's on the Ashford - Hastings line when snow first fell so we concluded the day by calling in at Ham St only to find things running fine and the DEMU's coping well.
