this kind of video are very interesting. usually there's for photography. but not much comparison for videography. Could you please make this kind of comparisons more. Thanks.
some of us don't even have a clue what 1.8 or 1.4 or 2.8 or any of that stuff means. thats prob why we stick w what we got. I got the money for a sick set up and wana go cinematic stuff and a gimbal. but I guess it's dji mini 2 for now
As someone that was a canon shooter a few years ago & picking videography back up and switching to Sony I appreciate you for making this video it’s sooo many choices out there & it makes sense to spend $2k for 3-4 lenses instead of get 1
This is kinda similar to my kit. Sony 35mm 1.8, Sony Zeiss 55mm 1.8, Sony 90mm 2.8 Macro. And I have the 12-25mm F4 and 24-105mm F4 for versatility and run and gun.
Sigma makes a cheap 16mm, 30, and 56, all f1.4 primes for crop sensor mirroless. No Image stabilization, but sharp, fast, light, small, and you can get all three lenses for under $1,000 total if you have sony apsc or canon M mount.
At this stage I don't know what I look forward to more with your videos... The banging tutorials? The honesty?? Or the comedy!! 🤣 #learningandlaughingisfun 😁 I am hoping to be in a position to buy a new lens soon so cheers (as always) for this Joris 🙏🏻
1 more thing, I say this alot about concrete work and the stuff we do, but u said it perfectly 👌 "it is what works for me and I love it" thats the key 🔑 its what u think is right 4 u and what u r doing at the time
This must be fate, I found your video after searching for the best lens for filming for content creators (as I’ve upgraded to an FX3) and you recommended TWO lenses that I already own 😮 - the Tamron 17-28 and Sony 85 f18 - this made me so relieved to know I’d already invested in two of the best lenses. Quick question - I’ve got a Sony 50mm f2.5 coming which I plan to use for direct to camera filming, but I’m wondering if the 35mm that you recommend would be better? I want to be able to have myself in the shot but also show my background so want a close up but not 85mm close 😂 any tips or advice on whether the 50 f2.5 would be good for this?
Sir on this 25th I am taking Sony a 7 m iv body, along with it I am taking Temron 28 - 75mm F2.8 DI III VXD G2 lens for Wedding video, now I want to take 85mm for Pre-Wedding, so which one should I take? Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art Lens, ZEISS Batis 85mm F1.8 Lens, or Sony 85mm F1.8 Lens?
Hey man I have a wide 17-28 and a 28-75 tamron. I’m a content creator and I need the zoom lenses for lifestyle and raw videos I want to do some talking heads and I’m interested in the 35mm &50 mm f1.8 but I need to keep the zoom lenses as well. Do you think it’s worth it to get the prime lenses for talking heads or should I just use the zoom lenses?
Onviously you know this but at times a 1.4 wont be tac sharp Until f2 or f2.8 and sometimes starting with a 1.8 you wont get super sharp until f4 or f5.6… Not always but on cheaper lenses this can sometimes be an issue… So even if you dont shoot photogrphy or super shallow there can be reasons to get an f1.4…
How far are you from the camera when film in studio using the Sony 35 f1/8, I tried setting mine up but it seems it’s not focused on me Any tips appreciated Thanks I’m about 3-4 feet away

Great video Joris Hermans, I have a question. Since you use Tamron 17-70 on a gimbal. The lens has a protruding barrel, which I guess you need to rebalance if you change focal length.
I use a similar set of lenses: Sony 16-35 f/4, Sony 35mm f/1.8, Samyang 50mm f/1.4, Batis 85mm f/1.8. I am not a fan of the larger, heavier f/1.2 lenses. I also like to shoot at f/2.8 or f/4 so my subject has a connection with their surroundings. Shooting at f/1.2 is just too shallow and gives a claustrophobic feeling to the images.

Ok. But you are speaking about full frame cameras...¿85mm in m4 thirds won´t have the same look? And the lighting you use in your videos ...Can you tell anything about it? Specially in this one.

Man I've got the 35 1.8, the 85 1.8 and was looking for a wide lenses. Tamron should pay you. You absolutely sold me that tamron and I subbed. BUT, but what about the tamron 20-40 2.8? 🤔

Me too - I know it’s probably creative decision of not recommending any specific anamorphic lens, but I’d love to know which ones are these reasonable and great?
you really nailed it with the anamorphic lenses. i have the 50mm and 75mm Sirui 1.6x FF. and yeah you have all the anamorphic-ness but how you described shooting with them, it slows you down, but in the best way. it's just so much fun to shoot anamorphic. i'd love to give the Great Joy's a spin with the 1.8x squeeze.
No😘 I use the 17-28. I have tried the sony one but ehh🙄 didnt like it at all. The f4 to f2.8 on the wide angle it really maters a lot with bokeh and just always looks better
@@HishantDheer first time hearing about this one. but 17 to 20 theres a massive difference. from 35-40 probabl;y you wont tell any. but on the wide end it really matters. it depents what you normally shoot. if you do real estate even those 3mm are massive. for parties, i have tried 20 but didnt really like it. really prefer the 17 to show that i am a person as well dancing, and the viewer sees it from somebodies elses eyes
Als het om personen gaat zou ik met een 35mm niet TE dicht gaan omdat je toch al wat vervorming begint te krijgen die soms niet al te flatterend is. Hangt er natuurlijk ook vanaf wat voor soort portret of close-up het is.
