Watching this as I’m in isolation in my bedroom after someone from work gave me Covid, I’m really enjoying your storytelling. In my mind, I expected India to be packed with people everywhere. It’s a bit sad that so many stores you went past looked like they were shuttered- was it just too early in the day? The food looks delicious. I have a friend from India who always laughs when I mention Indian food in Australia. I love butter chicken and vindaloo chicken, and he says he’d never heard of those dishes until he moved here 😂

Apr-May are the worst months to travel in the plains in India. Summer is cruel in India with temperature touching mid 40s in most places. So, head to the Himalayan hill stations in Kashmir, Ladakh, HP or Uttarakhand. If you love the rain then head to Kerala in the 1st week of June to enjoy the Monsoon. Best time to travel in India from Oct to Mar with majority of the festivals falling during that time.

Phoebe (or is it Fibi? Fibe? 🤣): Gotta confess, this video changed our minds a bit. India has never been on our "must visit" list. To be honest, it's not even on our "would like to visit list." But, after your video, we've now put it on our "would like to" list. * Really like how you set up the video with the VO describing where you went. Start big and then focus upon the area you visited and then specifically to the chaos of Delhi. * I noted that a lot of this video was VO; trying to avoid the insensate horns? Many, do they ever stop?!? * You captured the colors of India so incredibly well. So vibrant. * I like the quick history lesson of Delhi--gives a connection to what we're seeing and why it's so incredibly diverse there. * "This is not -- at all -- what I thought when I though of Delhi." I completely agree. You showed it to be such an incredible place. This is why the video is so well done--you freely admit of your preconceptions and how they were obliterated by actually visiting (and following your friends' advice!). It's what travel is all about--discover the world for yourself. * Indian food is so fantastic. We're lucky to have some first generation natives who run a restaurant near our home and it is soooo good. But something tells me yours was much better! 😂 * Okay...you have always been great with the music...but you took it to a totally different level on this video! Wow! * I think we would've done what you did with the all-inclusive tour guide. Being a stranger in a strange land for the first time seems to be better that way. * "Agra-cadabra"...we all have a little "Dad Joke" in us! * Will admit that the Taj Mahal is something we'd like to see...and then we saw your incredible experience. It was this part that really turned our head. Erin made me replay it. Your images are absolutely incredible...great sunrise views and then close ups. Love the VO describing your affections for it, as well as the details of what it is we're seeing. * Yeah...if we go, sunrise is the only way it seems. So many other videos show absolute tourist chaos (of course, as you discovered, the weather is a bit of a repellent to most tourists this time of year.). Way to go to find a better "out of the way" spot! * That has to be one of your happiest GMYG..being there so obviously filled you with joy. * Agra Red Fort looked amazing! Way to share that Agra is more than just the Taj Mahal. And your VO is almost poetry. So well done!! (Your writing is getting better and better) * Not sure I'd drive in India...looks almost as crazy as Vietnam! * Sikri: So...much...color! And...again...incredible music! Fantastic pics of you in the Mosque (did your guide help?). Again, love the history and appreciation you show and discuss. * Hoping your wishes come true! * Glad you had a great guide to help you with the locals. * Good tips on trying to combat the heat. Only so much you can do, though, other than, as you suggest, visit a different time of year! (If a Queenslander says it's hot...whew...yikes...can only imagine...) * Agree with you...up to this point, this was a different kind of video...not the 'normal' TFP experience...but, as I said above, that's not a bad thing! You were on a guided tour and, dang if you didn't present it beautifully. It allowed for your talent of writing the VO to shine! (That, and the incredible b-roll images!) * Another very happy GMYG! * What a beautiful palace! Yup...it's the pink city indeed! And now we know why! * Again...fabulous VO about the Amber Palace. * Thanks for the honest info about the elephants and glad you included the additional info in your description...not preachy, just being informative. That's how to do it, imo. * Erin asks, "Did you have any Chai?" (I'd dread to see Erin go three days without coffee. 😬) * Bar Palladio--holy ____!! That framing of the restaurant behind you is one of the best shots on your vlog! That place is absolutely jaw dropping. * An Australian eating Italian food in a restaurant in India...the world is a beautiful place! (Get good food of any style wherever you are!) * The heena looked great! How long did it last? * Thali looked really good! A whole spread of I-don't-know-what-they-are-but-it's-so-good! (Great solution to use your phone and mic to get around the non-YT approved music). * FIBE!!!!! A new one! 🤣🤣 * Thank you, again, for the heart-felt honesty about how you'd do things differently. And how to get into the country and dealing with the locals. We know, first hand, that we benefit from your experiences and your advice. It's beyond my ability to express to you how valuable it is. * "A walking wallet"...that describes how I've always felt in the Caribbean. A perfect way to put it. * (Sorry about the annoying men...we kinda suck sometimes) Glad you had a good time. Safe travels...looking forward to the adventure! Thanks again for sharing North India. Rob&Erin

Hahaha yes! Good spot! I found filming this one to be a bit tricky spread over so many days with multiple guides, noisy spots and a bit of trouble remembering ALL the history for so many places :) The VO's were a great way to get that info there thank goodness! hahaha I feel you Erin - coffee is LIFE! I'm not a Chai drinker, those kinda spices in a drink aren't for me! I wish I did though, apparently it's amazing in India. Ya, the walking wallet feel is not ideal huh - it really frustrated me. There quite a few other things that happened that didn't make it into this video as it was already so long and I didn't want to focus too much on the negative. I saw so many beautiful places and definitely experienced it a way that wasn't at all how I expected but there were a lot of things that left me very frustrated. I guess if travellers know that going into it, they can be better prepared :)

Hi Phoebe! Thank you so much for another great vid! India has been on my bucket list since I started traveling. As a solo female traveler, I have a lot of concerns. I've always read that it is not recommended for women to travel alone there. I have to say I was very happy at the beginning of your video because it was something I was thinking of doing once in India. I really appreciate your thoughts at the end; they clarified a lot of things for me. I hope to do this alone one day. I could feel your happiness at the Taj Mahal. Thank you so much for your honesty and your amazing vibes. That’s why I always watch your videos. Safe travels!

If you visit India always Remember Never visit Rural Areas..And Don't walk in night where no one is There.. Normal market is okay anytimes ..but no One Is there in night and you waiting for Ubar etc don't do that...And Wear normal dress like Shirt jeans or t-shirt Jean's never wear only bra and walk around... Dress doesn't matter for still just for safety... These 3 things Remember and you do whatever you want to do it's not a problem... And Use Ubar or ola always..or atleast check the price then You can book Toto Tuktuk whatever you want to say... And If you want to buy something from the Roadside likes Dress...If shopkeeper ask you 10dollers ,then your price 5 dollars.. Little bit bergening And 7 dollar is okay... dress Tuktuk everytime u have to bergening... And whenever you visit India please makes videos...

Just stay on the beaten paths (which tourists take) and you have NOTHING to worry about. India is safe, you will know when you arrive here. It's a hustling, bustling place. Stay in decent hotels.. if you can, try and spend at least 2000-3000 rupees a night ($35-40) a night on decent hotels. Any lower and the quality may be bad, and it may even be dodgy. The selfies and pics - yes, you do get requests from locals for pics. Usually nobody will be aggressive, they are just curious. My own family has taken pics with foreigners (lol) - we have some in taj Mahal. In Kashmir. You will know what it feels like to be a celeb for a day. About avoiding men, if you are really worried about this - just do what she did.

Harriet and I enjoyed our time in India. Agra was our favorite i.e. Taj Mahal! . and the many mosques. Jaipur for us was Hawa Mahal. We took this tour back in 2015. Phoebe , you touched all highlights from our trip. When you're going at this time of year (November to December) it's not so hot. We found that when traveling in India you can't bring to much attention to yourself . It's hard for you Phoebe because your a vlogger. Having a private tour guide works for you. One that has great references from other vloggers . Nevertheless, we had a fabulous time there. And we're sure you did too. Sending you much love❤ from where we are right now Cascais, Portugal Harriet, Jim and Yuki

Hi Phoebe, I loved all of your India videos-they’re really insightful! I am disappointed about the issues you have been experiencing with men insisting to photograph you. I’m traveling there for the first time this October with a tour group, so hopefully this won’t be a common occurrence during my time there. I wanted to ask if you got travel vaccinations before you went? I heard it’s common to get sick from the water or food. Did you face any problems or have you got any food safety tips? I’ll be doing the Golden Triangle with an extension to Varanasi. Are you planning to visit there next? I can’t wait to follow your upcoming journey!

I'd be curious to know if if a big group offers a different experience! I didn't get any vaccinations, no. But, then again, I never do. I just go haha Not sure if that's wise or not but.. yeah :) I was VERY careful with what I ate in India. I didn't eat ANY street food. I only ate at very good, clean, well-known restaurants and I ate a fair amount of western food at fancy places AND I ate mostly vegan, with only occasional bits of dairy. I have a terribly sensitive stomach and didn't want to take any risks so this worked for me - no issues at all.

Interesting vlog. Mumbai and in neighboring City of Navi Mumbai are famous for plenty of tourist destinations, which foreign nationals vloggers often missed out due to lack of interest or lack of information-Banaganga, Pandavkada Falls, Dahanu Beach, Madh Island, Sewri Mangrove Park, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Gilbert Hill, Aarey Colony, Vasai Fort, Kanhoji Angre Island, Mahakali Caves, Global Vipassana Pagoda, Manori Island Beach, Bordi Beach, Powai Lake, Ville Parle Lush Green Farms & Gardens, Art Deco Buildings, Mandapeshwar Caves, Sion Fort, Kanheri Caves, Tulsi Lake, Virar Lake and Sewri Fort. In case if yours time permits, do explore these places. Cheers😊

I feel so tired and sleepy back home too. I think it is the long travel that hits me. But it is good to go off peak season. I feel huge difference in hot weather and sometimes you could get good photos, with less crowd around and without being bothered.

I visited India twice and loved it so much. But that was before the advent of the Hindu Nationalist BJP. It's OK for caucasians but Now alas India is an oppressive country for orientals and Muslims, with its many conflicts with all its neighbours, its numerous human rights abuses, and its support of Putin's war.

Hiya! I'm glad you cover India because I've heard so much different opinions and mixed feelings about it. From what I've seen it i real beautiful, but for me my IBS is holding me back from visiting, because basically everyone I spoke to about India got food poisoning. Taj Mahal is really on my list of interests. Have you seen the movie about the Taj Mahal? That was an interesting one. April/May is indeed very hot in this part of the world. I was at the Maldives which is a few hours down south in May and the heat was insane. The temperature wasn't that high, but the humidity made it worse. However, I did enjoy the Maldives. But if you're ever doubting between a Maldivian island or any Caribbean island, choose the Caribbean, there's more vibes. Nature is same-same. The Wind Palace looks really beautiful. Must-see when you're there. You made me laugh when you told me it's been 3 days since coffee. Your food looks so colourful. Thank you to your guides for protecting you. Thanks for sharing this Indian episode and have an amazing week ahead 🤙

Oh wow! So interesting - you know I *always* get the tummy trouble but for some reason it didn't happen for me at all in India! I was totally fine :) Maybe I've gotten better at choosing food/where to eat? Who knows. No, I didn't know about the movie about it - will have to check it out :) thanks for the tip! Did you do the Maldives solo? I'm keen to go but also worried it might be a bit depressing haha maybe I need to save it for the future.
@FelixCattenstart
@FelixCattenstart 4 месяца назад
@@travelforphoebe yes I did Maldives solo, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a solo travel destination, you’d better visit a Caribbean country as a solo traveler. Bonaire for example.

You were probably eating Gata ki Sabji (the yellow one) and some kind of mixed vegetable (the red one). As for the tourist traps, that's a lesson I've had to learn the hard way. I usually book packages via major Indian sites and while they offer the convenience for a small family traveling, the drivers are always hit or miss. They take you into shops for buying things - even if you're Indian. Some destinations are worse than others when it comes to these traps. But your idea is sound of booking the flights and then managing locally. In a country like India, you can book Ubers quite easily in major cities and it's affordable, except for high traffic hours. In cities like Mumbai, you're better off using auto-rickshaws for short travel because they're fixed rate and one of the most organized in the entire country. Any way, your lessons learned are helpful and will definitely improve your Indian experience in other cities.

In my opinion, in India hiring a tour for everything is a serious mistake. The preferences and interests of the guides are generally very, very different from the preferences of the tourist, particularly if the tourist is a western.
