That stability exercise is gold! I don’t know why people don’t spend more time on foot strength at the gym. It’s the first place I hurt on long hikes.

Thanks for this. I have had a fixed big toe for some years. I have transitioned to barefoot shoes 2 years ago and I am amazed at how these exercises open up you toes and feet. Love you content and thanks for not being a ‘shouty’ trainer who strut there sculpted bodies and jump on the latest dietary trend. Keep it coming and I will check out your app. 🤜

Funny thing is I started moving individual toes when Inwas just a kid. Now I am in mid 40' still can move almost all toes individually. It takes few seconds to move it but afterwards no problem with repeating it. Still have to work on strength of the feet but half way there already

Great experience for your feet. That is one thing I work all the time. I love standing on my tippy toes when standing still. I've been doing that since I was a kid. It is very important to keep your feet healthy. I see so many people that have feet issues.

I have suffered with Gout for many years and the big toes are quite stiff due to damage caused over those years. Thanks for this video the exercises look doable for me so will definitely be trying them.

I have a question…been wearing a 1/4” heel lift on the left side for years. My right leg is 1/2” longer due to a leg break at a young age. Been wearing zero shoes for a bit and wondering what your thoughts/experience is with a hill lift for over all health? Thanks

Hi Mountain chaser. Thank you for sharing your really clear and doable exercises. You mentioned your friend whom lost his toes. May I ask if this had to do with a disease from a mosquito bite? Dengue?? Bec I am just about to travel to an island with this scarry little fuckers😅. Thank you again for your channel❤

Love your videos... do you happen to have any good stretches/movements for loosening up a tight ITB. Saw your pre-walk morning movement thing which helps a little but I'm going very specific here 🙈 thanks!

1:50 waouw.. it truely is relaxing to do that exercice. Thanks for that tip. What about grabbing the big toe and turning it in circles ? Have been doing it for a couple of months and it seems to help (and the "cracks" are pleasant too :D ) I think you can also mention that a very easy "exercice" is simply to walk barefoot as much as possible, and to wear barefoot shoes when you can't

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts comparing feet to tree roots. After TPF fractures three years ago, left big toe & foot had excruciating nerve zingers while gradually getting feeling back, regrowth and reconnecting damaged nerves. I practice sitting on heels in plantar position, will start working this dorsi position too. Being careful not to put too much pressure on TPF plate and screws, gradually and gently load evenly. Thanks si much for sharing!

@ChaseMountains

Yeah I had that once from frostbite, not cool. Basically, more movement and stimulating the tissue is my recommendation. All the exercises I share here and on Instagram (and more in my programs) will help.

I get a really dull pain in my big toe joint whenever i start hiking and its really bothering me as im fit otherwise and its impeding my aim to complete the munroes of scotland.i hear it could be stiff big toe or arthritis. Ever heard of these chase?
@RB-fp8hn

If the dull pain is on a bone , joint, and/or cartilage, get your serum uric acid level checked.

I doubt it's gout ( even if you can still walk with gout). It could be arthritis at the joint (pain on top of the joint) which can get worse while walking as the pressure of the boots can cause irritation. Check if the joint is swollen or looks different to the other one and if it's slightly painful when you put pressure on it. I've been living with arthritis of the big toes for the past ten years and have to be super careful with the boots/shoes I wear, for some older hiking boots I laced them up differently so as not to have the laces putting pressure on the area. New boots/shoes need careful vetting - stitching or laces on the joint can be very painful. X-rays will let you know if that's the problem. BTW keeping the joint mobile as it does help to a point and before long walks an anti-inflammatory helps.
