I used to use the Emissary VST but switched to using the fluff 5134 as my go to amp sim. The standalone desktop app is also great for practicing quietly.

I feel like we've only scratched the surface with impulse response technology. An impulse response can be an acoustic snapshot of anything. I use Waves IR1 in my studio and I have a library of impulse responses of various acoustic spaces. I can put my drums in Abbey Road main room if I so desire. Greatest thing since sliced bread. Love it.

Very true. For those wondering, you would run your impulse response of the room in a "Convolution Reverb" plugin. You actually got me thinking about getting some IRs for that.

I got in contact with customer support but they sent me the wrong files. When I asked them to help me by sending the correct files they basically shrugged their shoulders and said that’s all we got…….. I came here to see if anyone in here had the right files. No one got back to me. I gave up on it.

I've been really impressed by all of ML Sound Labs amp sims. They're not all free, but most of them are very cheap. Their JCM800 and Plexi sims are great too.

To load an IR in the Windows version of Amped click the little IR text next to the silver CAB switch on the front of the amp itself, it's not in a window. Next to the output dial. Took a sec to find that, cheers. Kickass Tute Glenn, thanks.

I love what you can do nowadays with free stuff. I have plenty of paid amp sims, now i work with a complex analog signal path that sits on a small table, but i still have respect for the free stuff and it would never stand in my way to do something with free amp sims.

GLENN!!! These offerings from you are great, but I personally think that building up (mixing) your own impulse response is so underrated nowadays! We've got serious tools like Voxengo Deconvolver and Wavosaur to alter impulse responses in any way possible (blend impulses together, cut annnoying frequencies and etc.) and then put them fully mixed and prepared for upcoming live shows into our gear - floor units like Helix and cab sims. Those technologies would have given a truly unique sound to anyone (just imagine - your own IR fully tuned to your liking, and everything - is just in one file!), but NO - people love whining and bitching about their abscence of trve lamp setup. Why won't you dive into this topic in your upcoming videos? That would be one hell of a tech knowledge boost for your subscribers!

As a soundtech, when people like you that seem to know what they're doing with their amp sims, sound is fantastic. When regular guitarists show up with a *next revolution of digital sound this week* and clearly just went set and forget, it's literally a coin toss if you're going to make it work well. We always get the blame even when it's out of our hands and the hands that should know the gear doesn't at all.

The nalex crunchman sounds fucking sick as well. It's one of the best amp sims I've used. It's a gain monster, a classic rock amp and a bluesy crunch amp in one go. Get a proper IR and you're solid.

I was right with my second guess (Ignite Emissary was my first)! Amped Roots is definitely one of the best free amp sims going around (although I'd also rate Audio Assault Blacksun and Nembrini Crunck, amongst others.).

Interesting that u listed Blacksun and Crunk, since Blacksun is one of the few free amp sims I never downloaded, since it didn't appeal to me. And Crunck I do have, but I didn't really get anything great out of it. On the other hand, I have many amp sims from Nalex and VTarAmps that smoke circles around everything else!

the free IR from Glenn is also amazing for bringing to life those other questionable IRs you have in your collection when blending them. If you have difficulty understanding an IR is a digital speaker then maybe the banjo might be better suited to you than guitar, or you could be a singer :)

Another cool alternative to the Voxengo plugin is VTarAmps Double Tracker. Used it on a friend's practice tracks for his band just to widen the sound up.

GLEEEEEN!!!! Great sounding IR, thank you very much. Please do "How to resolve phase issues when using multiple IR's". I've tried your IR in combination with my own IR and it took me a good while to find a solution for the phase issues (just flipping the phase didn't work and I had to fiddle with delay in the NadIR VST). My guess is that people who want more unique sound will blend your IR with something else (either their own IR or something bought on the internetz) and this is the problem they might face.

A TS9 with the drive turned all the way down (tone and volume at noon) has really helped smooth out the warbly low end on a couple amp sims I use. Just food for thought for those who bought an amp sim and has that issue

I'm not shitting on Fluff's amp but I tried it out and I wasn't satisfied with the tones out of it. I moved to the Gojira Amp from Neural DSP and it has been a killer for me. So many combinations, mic placements and so much more! Again, I know it's free so I'm not shitting on it, but with this IR it really kicks up the pace

One thing I've found to add "realism" to ANY amp sim? Simply add any pedal set to clean boost (at a liberal level) between the guitar and interface. I've been using a Digitech Bad Monkey (gain to 0-10%/level to 50-75%) and using the high-low boost/cut EQ to taste with amazing results. This method has seriously been a game changer IMO, and has me gassing for something like the new Blackstar DEPT 10 tube boost as an option. It most definitely adds a bit more "amp-like dynamics" to the overall experience IMO. Anyway... Keep being awesome Glenn!!!!! 🤘

It is absolutely nuts how good software has gotten for amp sims in recent years. You can seriously have all the tools you need to make what ever you wanna make at home these days. I will say metal has an advantage of the guitars being in the forefront. So a lot of the things that make for an awesome metal sound can be produced digitally. So basically, no one has an excuse to make a bad sounding metal album at home now.

What I can't get over is the absolute huge progress digital guitar tone has made. Even thru cellphone speakers that tone had no annoying fizz & solid mids without any weird boxy frequencies....... Better than a lot of million-dollar productions using real amps from the past

Dude! Thanks for the cab sounds. My guitar sounds way way better now. I have a charvell with emg 81x85's and that sounded great but when I would go to my legator 7 string it would just sound thin and also muddy. This really brought the entire thing back to balls town

Good to see a shout out of ml soundlab wares, really good stuff at affordable prices, pro tip for anyone going to try them for the first time make sure your gain staging is good and you set the input knob of the plugin right so the light comes on when playing, only headache i had with those sims as they dont come with a manual or any instructions. might be worth doing a vid on gain staging Glenn, some comments here sound like people are stumbling into that without understanding what there doing and it really makes all the difference with amp sims. Also was hyped when you announced the free ir because all the V30 irs out there are silent on year of the speaker captured or specify the later ones. Similar issue with greenback irs which why i repeat my request for an ir of those vintage blackbacks you found, they sounded sweet for more vintage/less modern sounds.

Ignite Emissary is great for a free amp but I always struggle to tame the fizziness it, I'm interested to see if Glenns IR makes a difference. I'm a fan of Bogrens amp knob (yes, I know its a paid plugin) and the IR does a great job with that. Hats off to Glenn for making it free

I've gotten great results with the Guitar Rig 6 free plugin, Roots, Stevie T free version, and currently playing around with all the different amp models in the AMPLEX sim which is crazy for free! Using NadiR to load IR's and my favorite is usually the ML sound Labs Best IR in the world (also free!), but I can't wait to try this new IR from Glen!

Thx to ur videos I discovered amped root, revalver and ml sound which helped my creativity A LOT thanks to those incredible free sounds! Btw I discovered other free vst plug-ins for drums from ml sound and lord it took my creations to another level. + I used ur recording advices in terms of number of tracks playing the same riff recording several times and played with different sound levels. And the result is INSANE! So thank you very much Glenn! And btw I like ur style, whenever ur playing guitar or shouting at us 😂 u rule dude 🤘

It's amazing how much can be done with free plugins these days. I love music is becoming less and less of a rich man's hobby. I want to share my favorite synth and keyboard VSTs if there are any keyboardists here: Surge XT - Open source and EXTREMELY flexible. It has better microtonal functionality than even paid VSTs. Intimidating, but it has a great manual. Dexed - A close emulation of the Yamaha DX7 Triple Cheese - A unique sounding physical modeling synth based on comb filtering. Great for semi-realistic sounds. TAL Noisemaker - A beginner friendly synth with a really cool custom envelope generator mda ePiano - Just a simple electric piano with sensible parameters that's light on CPU/hard drive space.

I feel like the rhythm sections ended up masked by the bass, but the lead tone absolutely ripped. That's the beauty though, you can always just change the response or its settings.

hi hi and hiii to everyone searching for free amps sims, they was the Nick Crow labs back in the days that i still use (especialy the 7170) . And MORE IMPORTANTLY: The Tpa-1 From ignite is a really good sounding machine, it is supposed to emulate only the power section of an amp but the trick is that if your track sounds flat try it; Works on guitars, drums, vocals, the entire master bus, etc. It is free and i think it deserves to be checked

The instant, 200% additional stank-face drove home how good your IR is versus the stock "speakers" are with the Roots sim :) Guess I should try out the audio interface a friend lent me and try this combo out.

The Emissary, Lepou Powerball style amp, Vadim Taranov are still some of the best free amp sims I've ever tried. I got a few others on my pc but can't remember what they're called.
