I like a lot more this videos that teaches how to make bonsais from the start like the clump stile one than a large impressive yamadori styling that I hardly ever gonna put my hands on, I think that those will discourage newcomers to the hobby but this video teaching basics in an easy-to-digest format are the absolute best, specially to understand the foundations.

As others have said seeing you style a bonsai from the beginning like this is in my opinion much better for newbies that watching you style a fully fledged bonsai

Exemplary beginner nursery stock video. Your videos consistently answer questions before the viewer has the chance to ask. Concise and simplified, the delivery and technique provide excellent guidance.

You were talking to me! ;-) As a newbie, it’s easy to get sucked in by the purest out there with their “because that’s the way we always do it” attitude. But this video is filled with many “oh that makes sense” and “I can do that” moments! I enjoyed it so much, I am feeling compelled to help fund the cause! $$$... Don’t tell the wife!

At last a vedeo for the novice . The hacks were great. Hope the poting part also follows for these plants as I find the root pruning part tricky . I developed two pyrantha plants by cutting easily during rainy season . Trainded them for four years till the trunk was thick enough but they never recovered the shock once they were shifted into bonsai pot after removing one third root.

Amazing video, Bjorn. Thank you very much. The most intimidating thing about bonsai for those of us who are "noobs" is how to take that first step going from raw material to bonsai. I'd love to see more videos like this with other species which may be readily available at local nurseries and even big-box stores. Keep up the great work. ありがとう!

Thanks for this beautiful tutorial. It's the first video I watched so far, among so many on other channels, that explains what I need and want to know. Professionally done! I would love to learn all the basics because I want to make a bonsai apple tree. The tree is now a month old 😁😁😁 I know I am quite ambitious, but I want to learn how to start with such young tree, what vase, soil, fertilizer, care anti-parasite and anti-disease to adopt. Thanks again! I d love to cheap in to support your work. PLMK 💗💗💗💗

Firstly - that Suiseki looks amazing! Secondly - Your Pyracantha seems quite soft and approachable. All the Pyracantha's I've ever met have been spikey , full of bad-attitude and always bite back. Is this a particular cultivar? Finally - Holy CRAP! That Gardenia got really cut back! Any recommendations for a Gardenia cultivar? Superb video yet again. I learn so much from your Bonsai-U vids.

Love your videos! Great information clearly and concisely presented. You could make money making videos on HOW to Make Videos...too many ramble on about nothing. When I was a kid, many years ago, there was a nursery not too far from my house that I would go to when I went on a candy run :) that had a Bonsai patio. I used to LOVE meandering through it and looking at all the beautiful bonsais. It was like stepping into dozens of little worlds. Thanks to you and your educational videos I am, for the first time, going to try my hand at creating my own bonsai. I have a curly willow branch in water, a cottonwood, one that I don't know what it is and a regular willow. I also want to try a wisteria and now a gardenia...oh and a multiple trunk like you showed in another video. So I'm going to have to live at least 20 more years...lol.

Do you do any follow-up ones that show the same trees you did the initial work on later when they have grown, perhaps a year or two later?
