This is it! The unveiling of the new greenhouse extension and remodeling. It’s beyond my expectations. I couldn’t wait to share it with you. My inspiration come from many avenues. Some from my home visits to other master orchid and plant growers, the Krull Smith, my beautiful partner Luíz, and of course my own personal artistic expression. The orchids dictated the way I display them. It’s an ever changing greenhouse orchadium. I take the opportunity of showing you what I have in bloom as well as what I brought back in my haul from Redland International Orchid Show. Ok so first is all 🎉 a huge congratulations on your superb greenhouse. Your orchids must be in heaven!! Seeing it in person was even more spectacular!! Also thank you for the fabulous time on Friday evening with extraordinary company. I was honored to be there. I enjoyed the format of this video. The video flew by. And it was a wonderful medley of your collection, blooms and space! As for the blooms- I’m in love with your “Happy Happy” , I must order one. The BC. Stars is another showstopper!! Thirdly, I was impressed with the MCV. Sol. Taino. Those 3 stood out for me. I breathed a sigh of relief when you spoke about watering more often. My gut would tell me to water but at the same time I was hesitant for fear of root rot. Now I feel better! Let the water 💦 flow!!! lol 😆

You potted orchids as well if you have them in lava rock or any other heavy draining medium. Spag moss you should do the finger check before watering again. 👍🏼

Your new orchid gallery is gorgeous! I love the flooring, the cement blocks with leaf imprint! Congratulations for the orchid named after you! Thank you! I’m trying to do some how to videos now in the summer since everything slows down a bit with the shows. It’s just so hot outside that doing videos is very difficult. If you look at my last what’s in bloom you can see my exhaustion from the heat. When I was done filming I had to run inside and rest in the AC.

Nelson, the extension is a gem and you made it exactly like an orchid gallery! I have “pestered” Phil at Bredren’s for 2+ years for an “afriorchid “ after you showed it to us the first time and, every time I see him and ask him for it, he laughs and says: “oh Nelson”😜. But I am not giving up🤞🏻. I have also been trying to get a FL Rainbow from Krull-Smith but, last time I heard from Julien, just before Redland’s, he only had 2 for sale and I asked him to save 1 for me. Hopefully, now that Redland’s is done, they will be able to ship it next week🤞🏻. Thanks for another beautiful video and happy Memorial Day to you and Luis🇺🇸😍

Hey there! Thank you for your compliments on the greenhouse gallery of orchids. Poor Phil. I feel terrible I showed that Phalaeonopsis hunghensis. By the way you can order it from Afriorchids. That’s who selling them. What has been happening with curtain orchids that I introduced and showcase on my channel, tend to sell out soon after due to people calling and ordering those orchids. The Florida Rainbow was abundant at Krull Smith. But I have been featuring it allot so I’m not surprised they are down to only 2. Give Afriorchids a try. Teresita got hers there.

Very nice!!! Your orchid house reminds me of mine when I lived in Miami. I've been growing orchids for over 40 years. I now live in North Carolina and still grow orchids, but also native plants, thus putting orchids to the side for a bit. This video has inspired me to do more with my orchids. Thanks you for this video. I left Miami after Hurricane Andrew and remember going to the Fruit and Spice Park for the orchid festivals.

Lol! Everyone keeps saying more space for more orchids. Honestly it’s so spacious and well organized, I don’t see myself overloading it like before. It was a bit uncomfortable walking in my space and knocking plants over. Now it’s just right.

Nelson, your orchid gallery is WONDERFUL as is your collection. When you say you water every day, are you referring to the potted cattleyas also, and is it because they are potted in lava rock? I pot in a mix of leca balls/coconut husk/charcoal/sponge rock and was told to water only twice a week with that mix. I am very tempted to water more often. Thanks for providing such great videos.

Great question, I also live in south Florida and it’s been so hot with very little rain in fact none in days, I started watering bare root orchids 2x a day but wondered about the Catt & others in pots.

All watering is based on your environment, medium being used, type of orchid, temperatures, humidity, and drainage amount. There is no one way to water all orchids. I have fine tuned the care of my own orchids through years of observing them through each season. I water all bare rooted orchids twice a day. The cattleyas get water everyday, once a day. I keep most of them in lava rock and charcoal with some sponge rock. That’s my perfect mix for me. Phals get watered every other day. They are in Spag moss holding more humidity. Keep in mind all my orchids are outdoors in extremely hot conditions during the summer. Once the fall and winter set in, I reduce the watering. Also do not water if the orchids get rained on.
