Hello my friend. A very good idea. I like your project. Useful and practical. You created the table saw stand beautifully. It's sliding and foldable is also a great idea. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing. See you. Big greetings. Yours truly.

Great design and build. Really clever ways of solving the problems and making an accurate and strong set of supports. The slide table is more effective than the one that came with my saw!

Such a great idea! I also liked your video editing style and lighting where by the light focussed on your work area and the background was almost dark 👍🏻

Thank you so much, Jamie!! I think those lights are work lights from screwfix, I just position it wherever I am working, so that its clear to my eye. But yes, it has got that side effect in videos, of highlighting the work item, which is a bonus.

Suj that's fantastic mate! Well done - impressive build and design indeed. Are you going to add a cross fence onto the sliding table like the factory build ones have?
@SujMenon
@SujMenon 3 года назад
Thanks Rob 😁👍. I actually did order aluminium mitre slots and matching mitre bar slider for that sliding part's top, but ended up not using it. That still needs somemore thought on how it will all come together. The main issue is that, my saw isn't fixed rigidly as I would like to use it outside for really dusty cuts. So everytime the alignment has to be made parallel to these "new tracks" on the sliding arm. It can be done, but left it for another day 😜

Gre4at build Suj mate. How is it holding up with the sliding table? I bought some sliding Linear guide rails off Vevor to build a sliding table. I want to build a whole Table saw from scratch. I have an cheap old table saw and I am thinking about making a steel frame like u made out of the wood. Something very similar. I'm using 40x40x2.5mm Square Tubing. I'm also making the top out of the same product. It'll be 1000mm long. That will give me the support I need to build on the sliding carriage. I'm using angle bar to connect the linear rails to. I will have to use some kind of grub screw or small bolts turned in the tapped holes underneath the table to making it sit flush to the table saw frame but I think I can get it to work with some luck. It will be very heavy when it's finished but I will put some heavy duty castors/retractable like ur going to do, apologies for stealing ur idea as well, and it will help me to move it around the shop when needed. I have a 16x10 garage workshop. It's basically a single car garage built into the house. I wish I had a bigger shop but needs must and it'd be too expensive to rent one. The space means I have to be clever with space saving ideas. That's why i HAVE ENJOYED WATCHING SOME OF UR VIDEOS ABOUT THE FRENCH CLEAT WALL, and the workbench flip top ideas. They save in space making sure tools are at hand so easily. Keep up the great work my friend. Enjoying ur channel videos very much..

Thanks again, bud 👍. The sliding carriage is holding well, still being used. It needs a good dusting before use. And i use wd40 on the bearings once in a while. Building it out of steel tubing will defo keep it slender. The extra thing I would add is a retractable support leg for the front extension part. Thanks for watching and all the comments 😀. Much appreciated

Really liked the video and done great ideas. Would it have been better to mount the two sets of sliding hinges directly together instead of using another sheet of hardboard? I'm just thinking of the weight and extra material cost.
@SujMenon
@SujMenon 3 года назад
Jason, not sure I understood the question. Is this on the outfeed table side which had 2 sheets on it? If so, I did it for the grooves on the tables saw's mitre slots to align, so that I could use my cross cut sleds. Ie, rhe bars can go over the outfeed to cover its length. If its about that 2 horn like structure, that was for the fence rail to clear, and make the outfeed table at the same height as the top of the table saw.. essentially making a U shaped structure
@jparky1972
@jparky1972 3 года назад
Hi. No. I mean the feed table. You essentially have 3 boards. The base. The second board and then a third. With two sets of sliding hinges on the bottom and middle boards so that the top board can slide front to back. What I meant was; isn't it possible to mount the two sets of hinges to eachother and do without the middle board? Making that section lighter and of course needing less materials.
@SujMenon
@SujMenon 3 года назад
Ah got what you are saying. I did think about it, but then I couldn't come up with a way to attach the 2 opposite direction slides like that. So went with that additional board in the middle. But if you can do it, then please tag me once done. Will be interesting to see how it is.

Great stuff! but please don’t wear gloves when operating saws. If your glove touches the blade it can pull your whole hand in.

thanks buddy. Yes, I generally use gloves because I can grip the timber easily with my hands. But I do understand the problem of accidents, and losing a whole hand in under a micro second!

No fence on your sliding carriage?
@SujMenon
@SujMenon 2 года назад
No, I still use the stock fence setup. Example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n3o_sO8Vhsk.htmlm44s Or did I understand the question wrong? 😀
@Golgafrinchamdent
@Golgafrinchamdent 2 года назад
@@SujMenon That defeats the most important function of the carriage. You're still crosscuting using the tablesaw fence. So your sliding carriage is really just helping to carry the off fall. If you put a fence on the carriage, you could crosscut any length regardless of the tablesaw fence limitations. That's really the main purpose of a carriage. You did all the work but using none of the benefit! imho

14:24, holy crap dude, don't wear gloves while using a table saw!
@SujMenon
@SujMenon 3 года назад
Yes, I am completely aware of the danger involved while using gloves. You will get that extra rubber grip, but have to always be careful while using these tools, especially if the maneuver is that close to the blade. Just my 2 pence that, personally I am totally focused while using these tools, but everyone should use it only based on their comfort level.
