Hey Swimmers - I believe that EVERYONE can swim without fear and with 100% confidence. We just need to maintain our comfort levels and learn to eliminate fear. You see, it is our engrained psychology of fear that is preventing us from learning to swim / learning to tread water, it is not our inability physically or incorrect technique.

I once fell into this overhead tank when i was kid and got scared of water like hell though immediately rescued..35 yrs never dared to enter into any water things like pools, water sports, beaches, small streams etc., finally wanted to get over this fear as my 6yr old kid was forcing me to have a swim time with him( like family swim time) registered private classes at swimming complex.. Learning little by little and did my back float today and yes whatever the mistakes you said beginers make, I made it...Instructor corrected everything that I was making wrong and finally made a quick back float( though wobbled alot )without any help and then realised how even a little movement can make us sink or float... Your video helped me gain more confidence amd correct my techniques for my next class.. Thank you

Thank you so much for sharing your heartfelt journey - I am SO grateful you landed on our channel and that you are taking this incredible leap for your 6 year old! YOU CAN DO IT! The truth is, learning to swim, learning to float, learning to put our face in, all of our swimming skills are built on a foundation of relaxation. This process begins out of the water, not in the water. We cannot bring that fear, tension, apprehension into the water with us. Here is a longer video that describes in great detail: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LKT906ag5-A.html It is 30 minutes of EXACTLY what to do and why to do it. It will really help. --- How can we help you at this channel! Now that you commented, we are your coaches too! Lets do this! Coach Jeff and Coach Meredith

I have always been swimming and is trying to teach a girl to swim but wanted to check if i was missing something or had something wrong since i never reflected over. It has been interesting to see her do mistakes i didnt think was possible. Drowning is basically actively pulling yourself down into the depths.

Thank you for the comment and welcome to the channel. Relaxation is ALWAYS the best strategy to work WITH the water instead of fighting against it. This takes time and practice to find relaxation. Normally, if your client is not performing a skill correctly, I would have them slow down and practice breathing and relaxing MORE. It is normally LESS about technique and more about psychology. --- Keep Swimming, Coach Jeff Wood

am so relaxed in water, yet I can't float without slowly but constantly moving my arms, or legs. I understand the concept of filling the lungs with air. when I do so and stand vertically in a 3m pool, I float to the extend that my nose comes out of the water while am perfectly still. once I breathe out, I immediately sink till my feet touch the bottom. Am not a gym guy, but with my physical structure, is quite tempting to think so. could my muscles be the reason I can't float horizontally but 'can' vertically?
@caribeswim
@caribeswim 7 месяцев назад
Hi - thank you for your comment and for explaining this! There are a number of "things" it could be: 1. Head position: Make sure it is slightly looking back - do not look at your toes 2. 100% pure relaxation 3. Full Diaphragmatic breath --- If the above 3 are all in perfect order, than our body type can certainly play a role. Remember, there is very little actual swimming utility for a static back float so adding in a little arm and leg movement is not a bad thing at all! --- If you would like me to review a 30 second clip of your floating to offer real suggestion, please send clip to Jeff@caribeswim.com and I am happy to do so! I am beginning a segment on our channel starting in December and would LOVE to showcase yours! Thank you again and let me know how I can support you further! Coach Jeff

How do you guys relax and float?😢 everytime i try i just go down immediately😞
@caribeswim
@caribeswim 7 месяцев назад
Hi mytravelmenu - thank you for subscribing and commenting! The first thing we need to do is begin this process out of the water with breathing and meditation work. We outline this process in detail on this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LKT906ag5-A.html --- We have to shift our perspective of the water from moving through it > to learning how to BE with it. Once we learn these core concepts, then we can start to look and see if technique is creating any issues with your back floating! --- I hope this helps! Please do let me know how I can support you further! Remember, you WILL learn as long as you do NOT give up! Coach Jeff

I am so glad you are able to relax! Try taking a DEEP diaphragmatic breath and ensure your head position is looking slightly back! You NEED the extra air in your lungs. when i try to relax and just stop moving to float i keep sinking down. what should i do
@caribeswim
@caribeswim 7 месяцев назад
Hi Kevinlui9754 - thanks for commenting and welcome to the channel! You can absolutely keep moving if it is helping you stay afloat! There is not a ton of value in static floating in swimming, especially on our back! ---- But also try: 1. Finding pure relaxation - tension in the body promotes density in the water - for more help on this, watch this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LKT906ag5-A.html 2. Ensuring your head position is looking slightly back 3. Ensuring you have a FULL and deep Diaphragmatic breath ---- Once all those are maximized, if you still have issue, submit a 30 second video to me and I will analyze it for FREE on our RU-vid channel so we can nail down the exact problem. You can submit that video to Jeff@Caribeswim.com. ---- Thank you again and keep me posted on your progress please! Coach Jeff

Whenever I try to float on my back, I relax as well as I can, but my legs start to sink a bit and I feel like I’m not going it eight. I’m looking straight into the sky and trying my best to float, but the bottom half of my body always sinks. Any suggestions?
@caribeswim
@caribeswim 7 месяцев назад
Hi Lillianna - thank you for your comment and I am excited to support your journey with learning how to float! First off, give yourself the space to know that you WILL get this and learn to swim. Many times, we get stuck on a certain process with learning to swim, it can become frustrating, and we either give up or the frustration can lead to tension in the body [which causes us to stay in a pattern of sinking instead of floating]. With that said here are my suggestions: 1. Thank you for the comment and a lot of what you describe can easily be improved with more air in your lungs. So what about non buoyant people? Lol like myself
@caribeswim
@caribeswim 9 месяцев назад
Welcome to the channel and thank you for the comment! If we carry more muscle than fat in our body, we are certainly at a disadvantage in the water but it is NOT something that cannot be overcome: 1. Use a diaphragmatic breath before going into the movement - more air in your lungs means more buoyancy 2. Ensure proper head position, slightly looking back 3. Make sure you are 100% relaxed! This is massively important - tension in the body = density in the water. ---- You can also begin practicing with the progressive belt to help in comfort, especially if you have a fear of deep water. You can find that in the link in our bio! --- Hope this helps! Let me know how else I may serve you! Coach Jeff and Coach Meredith

How can we make our lungs full when we need to breathe
@caribeswim
@caribeswim 10 месяцев назад
Hi Lovekishorbista6687 - welcome to the channel! You start by taking a breath from the diaphragm, allow your stomach to expand, then pull it into your chest. I hope this helps, are you looking to breathe from your front or your back? --- Welcome! Coach Jeff
@lovekishorbista6687

@@caribeswim Thank you for your reply.I tried to float upside but I sink. So we keep our chest expanded using diaphragm and breath using stomach? While swimming also, When I keep swimming with out breathing , I float when I try to breath , I sink.

Hi Weston! First off, thank you for watching and make sure to hit that subscribe button! I would LOVE to analyze a video of you doing a backfloat if you send to me at Jeff@Caribeswim.com - if you do not want to do that, there are a few tips: 1. Make sure your head position is looking slightly back 2. ENSURE you are 100% relaxed. 3. Full Breath 4. RELAX MORE! ---- For most adults, we do not enjoy getting water in our ears, because of that, we tend to look at our toes when back floating to keep the water out. Be conscious of that. Also, check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sUuAiH1JEtY.html ---- Let me know what you think! Either way, thank you a TON for watching!

@@westonarce846 - if we are talking about back floating, we need to be looking slightly behind us - our head weighs a lot and we do not want that Weight distributed towards our body / feet or we will sink - when angled slightly back, the water can help offset some of that weight
