Makes about 25 cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup (230g) Butter, softened
2 cups (250g) Flour
2/3 cup (85g) Powdered sugar
Optional additions:
Vanilla extract
Salt
Sugar for coating
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper, set aside.
2. In a large bowl cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the flour and mix until combined. If the dough is too soft, add 2-3 tablespoons of flour
3. 2 ways to shape the cookies:
A. Shape the dough into a disk form, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. Then, roll out the dough into 1/4-inch (1/2cm) thick. Then, cut into desired shape (hearts, round, rectangle).
B. Roll the dough into a log shape, wrap it with plastic wrap and freeze for 30 minutes. Then, unwrap and slice the log into 1/4-inch (1/2cm) thick slices.
4. Transfer the cookies to the baking tray and bake for 12-15 minutes, until slightly golden.
5. Allow to cool.
Notes:
• Cookies can be stored in an airtight container up to 3 days.
• If the cookies are too soft, refrigerate for 30 minutes before baking

Many delicious things are simple and few ingredients of good quality. My Great grandmother made these no recipe. You can add a pinch of salt or splash vanilla lemon or almond extract or lemon or orange zest or nutmeg or dust with cinnamon sugar for snickerdoodles,powdered sugar,jimmies,decorative sugars etc to make alot of various types. Even dip rectangles in melted chocolates... Great Grandmom did this and added a half of a maraschino on top before baking. They were our favorite....

@@ManimalaGovindaraj i always preheat the oven ,if you bake no matter what preheat the oven,i used also melted choc and dip after cookies cooled down ,in the choc half the cookies,so you have a 50/50 choco natural,and i gain some weight lol from eating and keep eating from it,excuses is ,well you can only keep the cookies for 3 days lol

Tried the recipe today, came out really yum 😋. I turned them to chocolate biscuits. Added Cocoa powder and vanilla extract to enhance the choc flavour. We also decorated the biscuits with nutella spread and sprinkles 😄

@@Hansle4529 yes you can, I grind caster sugar using pulse setting, powder sugar is easy to dissolve.

These are called "spritz". It's a danish butter cookie that is usually pot through a cookie press. The recipe has been passed down for generations upon generations, in my family. A real favorite!!

In danish this is a specie dough... The word specie comea from the word speciedaler equal to 4 danish kroner back then ( its a coin) since the size of the cookie was like the speciedaler.. So its a specie or plural specier... Love from Denmark 💕

We use to make something similar to this when I worked in the restaurant. We called them 1,2,3 cookies.I would add orange, lemon or lime zest to the dough, roll in a cylinder and cut them on a bias and they were served along side creme brûlee... So good.. I would eat them with my coffee during break..

Yummy short bread cookies. They are quite nice. The powdered sugar is a nice edition. If you used normal sugar I think it would be too sweet. But the powdered sugar gives it just the right amount. And I also put a little bit of yellow food colour in my cookies and used the roll up log method. They'll go great with a hot drink Tip: Don't slice your cookies too thinly. They will turn out better if you slice them a little thicker than you think. Perhaps about 2-3mm thick

Did not expect to success at first try. I cut all amount into half. Used normal flour, salted butter and icing sugar. First 1 oven 12 mins, i thought it was a failuer cos it’s soft, so I tried another 2 mins. It became crispy now. Thanks for the wonderful easy recipe. ❤

Very delicious and flaky cookies.... had a lot of trouble rolling it...it was really sticky (I live in Nigeria and it was pretty hot this morning) Had to leave it in the cling film to roll it thin, pop it in the fridge for about 20 minutes before I could cut out shapes. Turned out so yummy!!! Will definitely be doing more the holidays! Thank you for sharing this easy recipe

Okk so for the ones that are here to know if this thing works. Yess it works but I make it in a different way ⬇️ Number one : I mix 2 spoon flower 1spoon butter 2/3 spoons sugar Few drops of water And then I mix them in a mug and put them in the microwave for 30 seconds and then I left them for an hour in the are. Then I added one spoon of flower and mix them in my hand Last but not least I shape them with my hand and put them in the microwave I don't know the exact time that I put them in but each 30 seconds I open the microwave and check them until they are done. And last we ate them they are so yammy and all my family likes them and they are better than the ones that we buy from the store. I was making some Halloween cookies but I didn't know how to make cookies so this was very helpful BCS when I searched for how to make cookies it was always chocolate chip cookies or raw chocolate chip dough so this was like the only vid i found TYSM!

I’m an idiot at measurements it seems and made SO MUCH LOL and it looks too smoother than maybe it should be idk My log looks like a sausage. My wrist also hurts because I had to whisk by hand but it was so worth it I’m going to leave it in the fridge over night because I can’t make them today but I’m so excited. I added Mexican vanilla extract and cinnamon to mine. It’s my first time baking ever AAAA

I used this recipe to make cookies and I must admit that it turned super awesome. My cookies were soft and wound melt down once you took a bite. I definitely recommend anyone who wants to make one of these. Super easy and tasty

I'm keeping mine in the fridge for a day but if your mixture is like breadcrumbs add a bit of milk until smooth it worked for me and hopefully adds flavor
