Is it true that is cheaper to have a falcon with 3 engines vs a 2 engine jet? They say its because having 3 engines, there is no need to go full throttle on them and life span is Increased.

Yes, but not for the reason that you mentioned. It's cheaper because of the type of engines on a Falcon 50. All of these systems are on maintenance schedules governed by # of hours flown regardless of how the pilots work the throttle. Check out the video with PJM for more details on this topic. Yes. G-IV, Falcon 900. Does not work well with Challenger 601 / 604.

Sorry but let me ask a couple of questiones: If the jet gets chartered for 1000 hours, how can the owner still practically use it? Isn’t the reality that it is away most days? Won’t the old jets have a lot of unscheduled maintenance? What about spares? What does the owner get out of this?you are obviously making the profit..

The jet lives on the road and charters around an owner's schedule. It is not based at the Owner's FBO. This works well for an owner who flies 50 - 150 hours per year. Yes there is quite a bit of maintenance which we budget 1k an hour for, plus engine reserves. There is an abundance of after market parts for Falcons. The 50 - 150 hours of usage would cost $500k - $1.5m (10k/hr) on the open charter market, and the owner is flying for way less than that with the cash flow of the jet.
