Check if you know all the details regarding the launching of your kite.

I practiced this movement yesterday with a 4/5 mm wetsuit/boots and a PFD/Impact vest and a helmet, and WAVES!!! Thou... it migt be the same, but it adds up to a new student. Thanks for listening and promptly replying.

Of course using all that gear makes your movements harder than if you are just in boardshorts in flat hot water. But the alternative of having the kite at 12 and bending your legs to get in the board is way harder.

Somehow I think this comment ended up here. It's supposed to be related to putting the boars on the feet.

I really really like your pilot stays not hooked in until the kite is placed on its tip. I tried to promote this way of launching on a kite forum, but didn't get support there.

glebov66 in what part are you talking about? Self-launching

I was talking about assisted launch in your video around 3:44.

@@glebov66 OK Got it. I didn't put much emphasis on this, but it is an important detail. I'll later make some extra point versions, and I'll include this.

It is hard to see on a video, because it was from behind a kiter, so maybe he was hooked in at that point, but I still like that assistant places the kite on the ground and moves away upwind. This is safer that conventional way of launching when the kite flies directly from hands.

@@glebov66 I'll make another video with a particular emphasis on the landing and the fact that you don't need to pilot the kite until the complete landing. Once the kite is near the beach, you can just let go of the bar. Also focussing that the kite can just stay there, as long as you don't touch the bar it doesn't launch.

You can also be unhooked during sliding launch (the last one on your video). Just hold the chicken loop and rotate the kite, this is much safer way.

glebov66 true it's not necessary to be hooked. But the problem of having the kite more in the power zone and sliding with kite on the ground persists.

Good first step, but so much to improve. Search for S-Mart protocol online. This is the most advanced protocol we should promote. And I hope IKO will adopt it ASAP. Corrections: a) real dangerous: you suggest to attach the leash just when the pilot is in the "no flap" position. It's safer to connect it as soon as the assistant remove the sand (bag). b) detail: where is the sand too secure the kite on the ground? c) why the assistant Kris the kite and it is always touching (scratching on) the ground during the compass movement? d) when you talk about the 2nd way to self launch, you advise this is not good because you cannot check the lines. In real you can check it but you can face lines interferences and tip catching. e) in 5:45 you wrong movement because you should go upwind, not cross to the wind. Also may be the instruction can drive in confusing instructions, when you talk about "upper line" to pull... When the kite is on the ground it could confuse... Finally good helmet 😉✌️

There is no significant difference from the s mart protocol you mention. The pdf you have is excellent and nicely put together. Good job. A) i do attach the leash as soon as i pick up the bar. When i mention attaching the leash, it is not referred to that specific moment but having it done before launching. b) It was light wind, so i missed the sand / or bag to secure it. It is, of course, something needed. c) I film it all alone most of the time and with real beginners. This was the case, and i did tell him to hold the kite with it off the ground, but he didn't. It's not ideal as it scratching the ground, but it is what happens most of the time. e) i am going upwind doing the compass. The upper line i get your point, i mean when the kite is launched, but it can lead to some confusion. I don't know, however how to refer to the correct line in another way.
