I have noticed over the years that non greasable ball joints vs greasable have always stayed quieter. People tend to overfill and then rip the boot. Also aftermarket bushings may make more noises. It's all a gamble...factory or aftermarket.. nothing these days is made to last. It's what we all get with production manufacturing. Thanks for sharing
I had a 2017 Silverado that had squeaky rear springs. I lemoned it over them. GM and the dealership attempted to fixed them 4 times, including a complete replacement and by the time the lemon case was done the truck had 37,000 miles on it. I took the MSRP for MSRP trade in on and got my wife a new Traverse. I still don't know what the actual issue was.
My leaf springs were making noise at 10kmi, gm replaced them as the stock ones were “shifting”. It made a loud noise when I was backing up and turning. Since they were replaced I’ve had no issues
I got the 18 with 3” moto fab lift ready lift control arms bought December 2018 lifted it the first week put control arms on back in July got 35k on her and she is still going strong 33x12.50 federals they’re cheap but work the same only complaint is it walks on the road a little bit depending on the road rides better than my dads stock 17 Ltz z71 halfton
The offroad installation guys in my town won't even touch my 2016 Sierra, something about the angle of the steering column having issues after the lift/level?
You did a 3 inch leveling kit but you didn’t change the the AArms! That much of a kit you will need to change the pitch of the CV axle. Also did you get a front end alignment.
Did you have to go 3' for the tires or would a 2" spacer work? 3" can put a strain on the components. In hoping 2" is all I need for some 32.5x11.5 tires.
Depends on the wheel offset you have on whether it will clear. I have a 2in level on my 2016 and am running 305 60 r18 (33x12s) tires on stock wheels with 24 offset. It barely rubs the upper control arms at full lock, everything else clears with room to spare.
Torque wrench suspension components they are important because friend of mind lost a wheel after taking his truck to dealership, ended up damaging fender and hub everything was fixed but tire nearly killed someone when it came off
I have the same year model truck. Took mine back to the dealership for leaf springs and they told me there’s nothing they can do for it all new year models do it. Maybe you’ll have better luck out of them
Well just the other day my dads was doing it if I turned it left or right. I told him he drove a day or two later. And he said he didn’t hear anything. And he did mention cv axels.
I have a 2017 Z71, with a 2-inch leveling kit. I've been trying to chase down a squeak that sounds like it's coming from the right front whenever I hit any significant bumps. I was thinking it may be due to the leveling kit, but someone else said they solved their squeak by re-torquing the struts. I'll try that. Any other suggestions what may be causing this? Its driving me nuts.
Mine was doing this same thing... I found something about the struts were the seal on the shiny shaft gets dry and makes a creaking sound.... I ended up putting a light coat of bearing grease on it and all the creaking noises from the front end gone. You could also replace struts but I want to keep factory as long as I can.
@@bennyb6071 I am on original tires ( Goodyear sra's) with 34k and so far have about half tread life left... I have the 3" lift with uca's and did the alignment. Installed around 12k miles.
@@antimatter_7.3 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7mICL6lOAd0.html He doesn't use the truck enough and it's a daily driver not an offroad truck.
Yes it is.... I have had many experiences with aftermarket level/lifted trucks. Stay away from aftermarket. Buy a truck that has been already lifted.. such as the trail boss, raptor, rebel etc... The factory engineers are smarter than suspension manufacturers. In addition your truck would be built with all safety standard in place. What I mean by that is that your airbags won’t go off with a 3 inch lift while you are off-roading... which happens.
Hey man at least youre balljoiint didnt just fail on you altogether like it did to me with a 3” strut spacer. it had the droop pretty much maxed out so i saw it coming, but now im not sure what control arms to get so the balljoiint doesnt keep going out on it🤷🏽♂️
Anytime you modify stock suspension you maybe maxing out all the front end components especially with those big ass rims and 3 inch leveling kit. While people think they look nice they add twice the weight and that alone without the lift can wear the suspension components early. It looks like you took care of the squeak but it will most likely come back. Invest in some impact tools or get a 4 way tire iron.
I'll bet it's just loose wheels. You absolutely have to torque these. Then, run them for around 50 miles or so and check the torque on each wheel again. Good torque wrenches pay for themselves every time you use them and will last a very long time.
your right i had the same issue. i used my toque gun to tightened it and drove it and i start hearing that noise so i checked my wheels and found the culprit it was the loose lug nuts on both front wheel. after torquing it to the right spec the noise went away.
You need to get the aftermarket lower control arms with the bend to compensate for what a leveling kits doing to your tie rods. Your right its destroying it. Soon you'll be going through tie rods, wheel bearings cv shafts etc. This should be done with anything other than a 2 inch lift.
@@bruhgoaway8340 Other than in light condition driving - I'd get upper control arms done as well. My UCA's are squeaky with a 2" lift because of the harsh bumps and tight turns. Upgrading them soon!
Helpfull tip you can’t really check a wheel bearing a 4x4 by rocking it at 12-6 o clock with out loosening the cv nut You can sometimes get by with using a pry bar under the tire with the cv tight but the nut itself will hide most the play by hand anyways
i had a 3" lvl kit on my last truck (09 silverado 4x4) and it was awful lol Getting the upper control arm into place was a challange, and the CV axle geometry was so bad afterwards going into the hub. I blew up my CV axles twice in no time. If you do a lvl kit, dont go 3". just my opinion, made for alot of extra work in the future.
my brother has a 17 rocky ridge it came with a 4in lift from the dealer and his is at the dealer non stop with issues. They have replaced calipers, leaf spring bushings and various other parts. Good luck
Greg B I don’t have the v4 mode disabled, i don’t even notice it when it changes, the place I had put in the lift did the speedometer calibration for me.
@@armandogutierrez7248 that’s what I’m currently dealing with. About to buy the upper control arms specifically for the 3 inch level. And some cv axle spacers
The last several years I have read about the Chevy shakes, brand new trucks with vibration and shimmy problems, after multiple trips the dealerships they could not find what was wrong,, i forget what year it started, but newer isn't always better, it says alot about the state of engineering and how building it cheaper to save money has produced a lot of crap vehicles, too much plastic and cheap quality parts. And then you lift it, yeah doesn't surprise me it's not good, a lot of it is, blame the lift, when it's not the lift's fault. No offense, just saying.
