I am not a mechanically gifted player so I am totally with all you guys in the comments! I didn't practice this stuff early on but now that I'm further along I wish I had! It blows my mind that new players these days are able to pick up advanced stuff so fast. Nothing to feel bad about!
Well i hit my first double touch in ranked but when I went to save the clip the app was bugged, I am depressed but what can I do this is rocket league.
I just started doing ceilling shots and i already done a ceilling picnh in gold III and plat I. I was on the ceilling and accidentally fell off and the ball was in the right position in the right time 101%LUCK :)
We’ve all had that one time, at a low rank, pulling off something nutty, that was majority luck, at the right place at the right time. Then the opposite team says “Smurf” as your just sit there shocked by what just transpired
@@TheJunnutin Me and my buddy got accused of smurfing about a week ago, in doubles, at silver rank (Gold 2/3 then in Standard, Plat 2 now). I have about 180 hours, and he has about 500 I believe. Was pretty hilarious that they thought we were smurfing, I guess simply because my friend knows how to air dribble (which still seems so difficult to me).
So true, I hit a sick double tap in gold a couple months ago and they couldn't believe it haha they called me a smurf. I actually played worst after they called me a smurf cause I wanted to prove myself haha.
@@mehol3 i've done a few double flip resets in training, i can single flip reset consistently. i have like 330 hrs in ranked and 210 ish in training, i have most mechanics down.
@@flippyz720yearsago2 Yes, because unlike d3, people in gc know that ceilingshots are incredibly slow, easy to read and very easily blocked by going off the wall or even off the ceiling yourself. I guess if you master it to the point of being able to apply mind games while doing ceilingshots, or doing mid air 50/50's, or flip resets, etc. it can be useful, but at no point is it a requirement to be able to do proper ceilingshots to reach gc. I wonder what other requirements a gc must have in order to ''deserve'' it.
me in Diamond: What i cant: Airdribble ceiling shot properly fly dribble and flicks misses a lot of balls (especially in corners) what i can: Drive Boost Edit: I hit champion with these skills
@@christiantaylor1495 It means your overall knowledge of the game and how it's played. Stuff like knowing where to position, where a ball is gonna land based off the bounce or angle of the car, rotations, etc. Basically your "sense" of the game and the finer details in it.
@BK - 10ZZ - Cawthra Park SS (2202) set right and left bumper to air roll and practice jumping off wall and flying into the goal without ball from both left and right walls to make it second nature knowing which button to press to get the car roof facing upward.
@@VeganApexPredator yeah I respect that I never said otherwise but he never hit a ceiling shot and he's c3 like I'm surprised because all I see in my lobbys (c1) are ceiling shots, flip resets air dribbles, that's why I'm a bit surprised
My first ceiling shot was an owngoal in comp 1v1, I was gonna score it on the opponents net but he saved it so I just took the ball to the wall and tried it on my own, and I did it xd
Enemy missed, but I was preparing for his hit so I missed. Teammate was prepared for my redirect but since Enemy misses, I missed, so Teammate misses. Slow roll into our net...chain of Whiffs sounds right
In the interest of contributing something different than "I'm x level and I can/can't do that" I think what this video demonstrates is the high level of nuance in car/ball control. It's really helpful to see how the subtleties of mechanics can add up to HUGE differences in rank. I wish you had also included half-flips and wave dashes as they seem to be more and more prevalent in the current meta, especially in 1v1. I wonder if you could get free play footage of different levels and compare/contrast them, as I think it's much easier to tell a person's rank by watching them in free play, where they are stretching the limits of their mechanics. I have a 1700+ GC friend and I can say with all certainty that watching his mechanics in free play is infinitely more demonstrative of his level of car/ball control than game play. It's been most helpful to me to see what my friend is doing in free play and try to emulate it, as it's more about stringing mechanics together, rather than just hitting one nutty shot. Just my 2¢. Love the content and the streams. Good times.
@@carwashsoap what rank are you? Im C3 and have been practicing those advanced mechanics for a little bit now because like Sunless I never went for those much before, but wave dashes and recovery mechanics are the ones I've invested the most since Season 2 when I started the game! I think recovery mechanics might be the most important ones in my eyes, much more than a cieling shot or anything. Being able to wave dash, half flip, and using the powerslide to recover means you are way less often caught out of position and become more useful to your team than most of those other mechanics that leave you vulnerable if the opponent reads you or if you miss. Basically, get to it and work on your recovery mechanics!
@@thatoddfrenchguy6623 I've been as high as a D2 but only because I've started playing 3s with a good team. Before that it was just Ranked 3s with randoms. I'm definitely not as mechanically skilled as some players, but I think I have pretty good awareness on where to be and rotating and getting back on D when needed. And having a team that does the same makes a HUGE difference. I could definitely use practice on those advanced mechanics though.
Champ 3 here and IKR... let me tell you the WORST and most annoying part on those cases, ur Teammates blames it on you, because "even if I whiff, u was there and it was not really going that fast"
Im champ 3 nearly GC and trust me if u miss especially in 2s... U R FUCKED. Even if its on thair side on any type of miss ur tm8 gna get a 2v1 and 99.99% get scored on Edit: then hes gna blame u and throw the game😐
@@haidera5088 I hate it when a teammate whiffs midfield, I'm going for boost expecting to move up, and they score. Then they have the audacity to blame me for going for boost, as if it's my problem they whiffed.
@@ILoveCatsYippee. Usually it goes like: They whiff, I (unprepared goalie because I thought they would hit) try to save, I fail. They: What a save!! What a save!! What a save!! and then asks for FF, under by a goal and with 3mins left.
Easy explanations: Alpha Boost: PC player using a mod. User submitted clip so you see the alpha boost Champ Explosion: Nothing to see here. It's a currently D3 player. I have the season 10 champ goal explosion from being a primarily C1/C2 player the last couple seasons but taking breaks from the game/pairing up with idiots can easily knock you back down to D3. Once in D3 it can be quite challenging to get out. D3 is by FAR the worst rank in the game. Everyone is overly confident in their abilities and make foolish plays. Horrible game sense too.
It's extremely rare. It was supposed to be level 1 of advanced mechanics, aka the first form of the most difficult mechanics, NOT level one of rocket league in general. Should have made that clearer!
@@SunlessKhan ok good, cause I can't air dribble, what I can do is have a silver ceiling shot on me I don't have the clip, but I swear it was a legit ceiling shot, not a flip immediately off the ceiling
Im gold 3 and air dribbles are quite common. Ceiling shots and double taps are rare however they dont look lucky at all when they are hit and i have never seen a flip reset
I'm gold 3/plat 1 and I see air dribbles quite often in ranked 2v2's. Of course I see people completely fail them just as often as often as I see them air dribble successfully. I will see intentional pinches but they don't usually seem to go where they were intended to. And of course I'm included in all that success and failure. Oh and I've seen one ceiling shot. Count them, one!
Imagine spending countless hours watching sunless videos. Spending hundreds of hours playing and practicing the game, getting a sick clip, making it into a video where your clip was featured by the man who inspired you to start playing... And then he says: Yeah, the opponents are a bit weaker in level 1
Platinum after they make a simple ceiling shot for the first time: “Yeah I should be in SSL. My teammates just slow me down, ya know? I’m always consistent”
I still remember my most insane save was one of the first times I ever played the game. But I've never practiced my car control, nor my dribbles. I only play of my game sense and rotation.
@@tyjackson14 im gold 2/3 and i can do basic bounce air dribbles and touble touches. And i can carry the ball like from the half field. My next goal is to get in plat 2 in 1 month
Im gold one, im not sure this is my actual rank considering i dribble extremely well, air dribble, but cant flip reset, i dont play ranked much so it put me at i low rank win i won 7 of my placements
I'm champ 3 (hit Gc and got rewards) I can musty flick air dribble double tap, breezi flick, double stall flip reset, and a bounce musty flick double tap Edit: I'm gc and got rewards Edit 2:wave dash faked a champ 3 in 1s
I have something wholesome to say Most people think that you are defined by your rank but that is wrong The only thing that defines how good you are is your willingness to persevere and rise to the occasions when you have the chance. Don’t call yourself bad if your a low level You are so much better than a gc if you’re prepared for the road ahead and they’re not If you’re ready then your time will come Peace ✌️ Edit: yeet
I’m currently trying to get ranked right now, my friends carried me to plat 3 but I’m interested in where my skills are, I played a few ranked games yesterday and for some reason it put me against bronze 1’S, that was painful I felt like a god even though I’m a scrub
I havent even touched ranked outside of rumble for fun. I only have 24 hours in RL. Ive been aggressively practicing my mechanics whenever I have the chance in FP. I accidentally learned how to flip reset while practicing in aerial shot training. Cant apply it in an actual game but my aerials have improved exponentially. I genuinely enjoy this game especially cause you can not only see, but feel yourself getting better little by little my aim is platinum by the end of this year and to be able to consistently hit dribble flicks
Im gold and im defently not a smurf and i can pull celling shots and air dribbles it just the fact that we play a lot of training and less comps because when i started i was realy afraid to lose so i was realy not playing comps too much still i can pull insane shots the rank doesnt mean shit
All my friends play online and i cant because my ping is 800 so i only play offline woth bots and training and they are always doing comp while i practice stuff so even tho i have no rank i have learned to hit flip resets and air dribbles and ceiling shots and a bunch of flicks so i am better than them with car control even tho i havent played a single online match on my xbox
I'm not bragging, I know very well how bad I am, but since I couldn't rank up and i just kept losing, I spent hours in training as a gold, grinding new Freestyle mechanics, from air dribble, ceiling shots, flip resets, double taps, and even flicks. I finally managed to solo que my may to d1, and I still grind mechanics, and I'm happy with this. These days I'm trying musty ceiling shots, which are super fun, flip resets to double taps, and a few others. Again, I'm not bragging, I'm absolute garbage in actual gameplay, but practicing tough mechanics and showing them off in low gameplay casual made me not quit rocket league lol
This video intro just made me feel bad and stop watching. I haven’t really hit any ceiling shots. But I do score occasional air dribbles or fast paste double touches. I usually win match’s cuz I’m pretty good at 50/50 and I’m pretty quick. C2 here Flip resets and ceiling shots(the ones where you hold onto your flip and mess around) seem a step up. I usually practice the “ultimate warmup” the redirect pack by Poquito And “Deevo”
you don't need to hit all of your ceiling shots, pinches and have the best air control to be diamond, if you've good positions, good teammates and some basics mechanics you don't have to worry about this special moves
This video explains why playing at gold and plat can be so frustrating. We see here the one time they pulled this move off, but not the 1,000s of times they failed and left their teammate(s) completely out to dry
Yep stuff like this is possible I’m high plat 1 and I was playing 3v3 competitive with random and 1 of them pulled of a really clean flip reset so it is rare but 100 percent possible
I've been in platinum just once I even got to platinum 2. Its scary as hell you just see cars landing epic ariels and stuff I'm just silly old gold I didnt know where I was. Honestly its was fun just watching them flying over my head.
I can do a ceiling shot (not very well tho) and Im a gold 1. I agree with you though when you say that people who practice things earlier on are better at it when they get better at the game overtime. I keep coming back to watch this video, because I love seeing how these players can do things like this, and it motivates me to get better.
before this video became outdated, i used check back in on this video every few months or so, to see the stuff i used to find insane, be second nature, and see what skill category i fit in. you should make a more updated version of this video
