Love the quick guide, some notes from playing him myself a lot. - start with W > Q > W > E > W > R and then focus Q. You get more stacks early with W and deal heavy damage at longer range for trades. - start dorans ring instead of blade, most of your kit scales well with AP and the mana helps more than lifesteal during trades, as your basics early are as weak as minions. - essence reaver, cdr boots, Navori, cannon, spear of shojin, last item is situational, (can also be taking before spear) life steal if ahead, defensive if behind. Or whatever else is needed. - cookies and boots from runes are very strong and help you early game to keep stacking, save gold, and stay in lane for trades. - lethal tempo feels great, but have not yet tried PTA, had decent success with comet and manaflow. Most of these thing are for playing him as more of an AD caster, with early focus on W, his basic attacks are incredibly weak, and lategame your W>Q will melt anyone standing close to each other.
2:25 should point out that that would be a full combo and not the "optimal short trade" - if you just want to do a quick good trade, do aa q aa - the q counts as an autoattack so that already procs pta
As an ADC rather than support absolutely, her W is basically impossible to land with minions in lane, her damage is super low and she can never get into an advantage state against his E, she's one of the few ADCs that Smolder actually can out damage in the early game with PTA! good guide but few things i notice after playing him : - cdr boots are better cuz all your dmg comes from q - rapid fire canon is probably core 3rd item since his q is like an aa so its scales with range buffs and the power to cast theese nukes in mid game from far away is just too good - with the same idea lethal tempo against tanky teams could be nice but not sure about that
CDR boots are solid but of course your sustained damage won't be as good! RFC is a great item on him, lethal tempo of course is great but realistically your early game is so bad that without PTA people can just fight you whenever they want
As a jinx main I felt like he is a great matchup for jinx as jinx gets to scale for free too and outrange him lategame. But I guess it is just depending on teamcomp and execution
You’re not wrong that Jinx does also get to scale, but when Smolder gets to 225 stacks and basically has a permanent elder buff it is simply just too much damage to withstand!
