3 Months After My Dutch Aquascape Setup. Finally, I had a chance to film this colourful Dutch style aquarium after setup. With weekly proper maintenance and daily fertilizing, aquarium plants are growing healthy and algae-free. Before doing massive plant trimming, I want to share this colourful tank one last time. Such an amazing addition to your work! Incomparable with others! I have a few questions if you don't mind, can you please answer the following: 1. did you cycled your aquarium with or without plants? 2. have you decreased the light intensity in the first 1-2 weeks (if you cycled it with plants) and how many hours your light was on? 3. how did you used your CO2 in the first 1-2 weeks, 24/7 or 2 hours before light went off? 4. how often have you changed your water and how much, during the cycle? 5. did you used plant fertilizers from the start? So pretty! Wish I had it. I have a tank that keeps getting trouble with algea and not so good plant growth. It has crypts/ferns/anubias/ sessiliflora/rotala hra/pogostemon/vallisneria. I dose an all in one but for example the rotala and pogostemon are not properly growing. Also not very red. I think I need to switch fertilizer. But I also have some algea happening. Not easy, I use co2, 50% weekly waterchange and daily dosing of the fertilizer.

Incredibly beautiful, a challenging range of plants. Light quality is obviously very good, and CO2 levels are good, thus hard to know, but do you think the electrolysis device (steriliser/oxygenator) makes a significant contribution? Filming top quality again. Many thanks.

@@Tropictank I know the feeling - I use one, I got algae issues regardless late spring early summer (intense sun light cutting into the room I think) and currently my tank is pristine but with 30 ppm CO2 and only a 7 hour photoperiod...thanks for the reply and do keep making your sumptuous videos, they are a delight.

Great planted tank! No visible sign of algae and everything's in good condition. That said, AFAIK true Dutch aquascape has one very restrictive limit: Max. 1 cm of fish per 3 liters. I think I saw more than that in the video (for cca 60 l of water).

@@Tropictank I'm not arguing about amount of fish in general, just whether it fits Dutchscape category. I apologize if it sounds rude or misleading. I could be also wrong anyway. The thing is long time ago I read there's a very strict limit on number of fish in the dutchscape. When I google that now (as opposed to a book from the 1970s), I get all kinds of rules in English. Czech sites would repeat decades old saying "no more than 3-4 liters per 1 cm of fish" in these planted scapes.

I want to copy this setup in a slightly wider and higher (60x40x40) aquarium. Shall I just let the foreground plant Monte Carlo grow a bit wider because of the 10 cm extra width? I'm not sure if it will look nice, but if you say it will, I'll go for it.
