Listen, THIS WORKED!!!! I watched your video last night and did only 5 minutes of foot work each and now I am ABLE to walk in all the heels I bought that I was struggling with!😩✨ Thank you soooo much!! Only 1 day of foot work imagine if I do this for a week or months!!!
During school times I somehow managed to walk in heels well and I did last autumn quite well too but since this year heels don't really like me anymore.
Honestly same. My mom always bought me school shoes with heels and even my everyday sandals were in heels so I was more comfortable wearing heels than flats. Now I have to look up videos like this to relearn how
Just the video I’ve been looking for. This makes a lot of sense. I like the fact you mentioned to walk on the balls of your feet because it’s a struggle to walk heel to toe for me. It’s to much pressure to think about it then walk it.
In my gymnastics days, we did calf raises (straight, out, in) and then this exercise wherewe raised our toes up towards the ceiling(staying on our heels). That one and the toes in exercise always had me looking crazy, but they worked very well.
Hey, if this exercise is helpful for you, feel free to make your own video about it. We learned it in gymnastics and I was getting more strengthening in my ankles than the calf raises, which was sooo helpful for my double jointed self... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e7qgaD7XAWA.html
I really appreciate this. The first two videos I watched on RU-vid, was solely individuals walking in different with shoes to practice. I'm sure they just wanted to be seen and show off their feet in shoes ... lol. I learned nothing. The reason I can't keep my shoes on for 2 minutes are exactly the areas you are telling us to exercise. You're one cool chick! Tell your mom those classes are having a lasting effect on us all. Thanks!
Hi C_Nicole_R 👋🏻 Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I really appreciate you taking the time to mention that my video was more helpful. I have done the same thing as you, searching online... and I typically like videos that go straight to the point my tips hehe.
This is just what I was looking for! I danced for 7 years as a pre-teen/teenager and had no problems with the few heels I tried on then. Now at 28, my muscle tone has... faded somewhat, ha. But my love for heels and platforms has only grown. Showing me what it looks like to walk in heels and telling me to practice means nothing and hurts! Showing us to strengthen our legs and feet to be more comfortable and safe? All the difference! I'm excited to build that tone and flexibility back up and start rocking these heels I've got laying around, just waiting to be enjoyed!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these tips. Now, when I was in middle school I tried out modeling. Although, I did quick research on how to SAFELY walking in wedges and continued wearing them into my early high school years I WISH I had known these exercises and stretches I could’ve done the whole trip in the car down to Orlando. I wouldn’t see results right away but at least my muscles would have been warmed up and loose for it same goes for waking up early in the morning and rushing to get things on and put together for school. My muscles were sore but it got better each week when I kept wearing the heels anyways (taking breaks of course). But SUPER helpful to have known it then. Better late than never.
Thanks so much for watching the video Jazzi and for your thoughtful comment. You sound like a resourceful and motivated person - exactly the type of viewer I really appreciate.
To me most of the difficulty comes from shoes that are not stably attached around the foot (for example sandals with only two straps holding them on the foot) and the points of friction directly on the skin. Also very narrow shoes hurt a lot. Very thin soles hurt too but that is something that is easily fixable. The easiest shoe with heel to walk in is boots with a thick sole.
I love the video - very useful strengthening exercises, however I feel the need to raise a couple of important points: Yes, these exercises will help, but they won't guarantee your ability to wear extremely high heels such as the ones shown in the video. You also need to work out the maximum comfortable heel height for your feet - an easy way is to try on the pair you want and see if you can, by doing an elevé as shown, raise the heels by an inch off the floor. This allows you to walk with minimal discomfort using the natural flex of your foot. If you can't do this, I'm sorry, the heel is too high for the length and flexibility of your foot, and may cause damage in the long term. Please also ensure that the toe of any high heel is wide enough for your toes to spread and support your weight when resting the weight on the balls of your feet - this will also help you with your balance. The other point that concerns me is that Crystal says her feet are "naturally always in this position" - please always spend a day in flats occasionally to make sure you can still walk comfortably with your feet in a "barefoot" position, this will help make sure that you catch any developing problems with a shortening Achilles tendon before they develop.
Kitzy A you raise a bunch of super good points! You’re absolutely right it’s important to wear flats and give your toes and arches a break. Wearing super high heels all the time long term can be really terrible for your feet. I chose these platforms in this video because they show a more extreme heel height to really demonstrate the exercises, and also because these are a super popular heel in the pageant world right now. But you can mitigate problems by taking the measures you mentioned (which I will admit can be more effective than strengthening exercises...wearing a lower heel or simply not wearing heels is going to be more comfortable and ergonomic for your body 100% of the time.)
I just got a killer set of heels from a fan, but I'm so bad at walking in them. I will definitely work on this. Thanks for a concise and easy to follow video! 💖
huh...im actually pleasantly surprised. growing up a ballet dancer, i do these exercises a lot as a warm up and eventually they became a bit of a thing I do before a performance like a nervous tick. glad its useful for this!
Since having my children I've not been able to walk in heels at all. I used to wear 4 inch heels without pain before this. Hopefully these exercises will help get me back into my heels 👠
I needed this because I used to know how to walk in 5 inch heels when I was young but then I stopped for a couple of years and now I need to start getting used to it again, so I started with 3 inches to 4.
I have less than a month to learn how to walk in 10 cm high heels without accidentally impaling myself. Never before have I ever worn high heels, so those exercises better do wonders
I love high heels. They are so beautiful and elegant. I know they can be not easy to walk but practise makes perfect. I feel good in high heels. I also love to walk in flats. I feel the best in girly clothes.
Awesome!! Thank you! Wish I had looked for this a month ago as my special event is only 7 days from today but I’ll do these every day until then!! Thank you!!!
I'll definitely try the exercises because there is an event coming and I'd have to stand a lot in heels. The only thing that I kinda don't agree with is not stepping on the heel first. I understand the logic that you lose balance, but most women who step on the balls of the feet first bend their knees and it just looks super ridiculous (especially once you get tired). I'm guilty of doing that as well. That's when I realized that when I step (the same way as with my flats) heels first it looks way better. Of course, the heels need to be stable!
My superpower was wearing high heels. It’s quite a skill to have. However, it led to foot problems, and I haven’t been able to wear high heels for a long time, and it is unbelievably depressing.❤. P.S. Make sure you don’t wear them all the time….that was my mistake.
Girl. Ballet and high heels are my life. I walk in high heels usually but the only time when I don't wear high heels is the time when I dance ballet, I love these cute balerina shoes. Cute shoes are my passion and pop music and dance and high heels. Ballet really helped me and it makes me feel strong and so girly and I love to be girly and sweet 💖💖. I danced ballet already when I was litte girl and now I feel that I am better balerina. When you dance ballet you should forget about any logic and you should let your emotions take control. Usually I follow logic but when I dance ballet, I forget about logic and I only follow emotions and it feels so good, also I listen angelic, balerina music and it feels even more good. I love it. Ballet and high heels are the best.
There’s a little more to it, though. There’s also proper placement of your center of gravity over your feet so that your weight is position over the balls of your feet, between the second and third toes. You also need to tighten your gluteus and raise your stomach and keep your shoulders down and your neck long.
ReneeJoan you remind me of my amazing childhood ballet teacher (multiple corrections are the only way that you improve as a dancer.) I agree with you but I didn’t want to overload this video with too much because it would become overwhelming 😬
@@CrystalClues Ha ha!! My first ballet master was so old school they burnt down the school. He came out of the old Soviet ballet school in Poland, so he walked around the studio like that ballet master in the Degas painting, pounding his cane on the floor, screaming half in English, half in French. He treated everyone the same - rank beginner or full professional, once you walked into his studio you were there to improve your technique AND your artistic expression and beauty. No matter how perfectly executed the technique, if you forgot that you were supposed to be creating art with your body, telling a story, it was worthless. And always, he just drilled, drilled, drilled on basics - proper placement; carriage; posture; balance; the neck; a beautiful back; hips square (no “cheating” by raising your hip to increase your lift and extension); perfect endings; perfect preparation. Nothing escaped his eagle eyes, even in his eighties. I studied with him for twelve years, and was never very good. But my social dancing was amazing!! I had a commanding presence on the dance floor (“Command the space!!”), and men LOVED my beautiful balance. Plus, after I had a really bad car accident and fractured my pelvis, I credit my ballet for my recovery. Physical therapy was a good supplement, but it was my ballet classes that REALLY helped me learn to walk again, and to overcome the tendency to limp.
In a show I'm doing, me and the other girls have to dance in heels! Nothing to crazy, and obviously not huge heels, but a couple of inches. I always go on to my toes, like walking on my toes or standing on my tiptoes so I have decent calves and my goodness it helps a lot! Plus just being in my toes is a lot like those cake raises just less daunting and you don't need elevation! But I agree with all the recommended exercises!
Me and my sisters, we are always wearing high heels when we are on the scene and we are singing, high heels are beautiful and we like to walk in them. Some people say that we are crazy, wear high heels so long and they have right, we are crazy but crazy don't always means something bad. We are positive crazy.
How often and how many reps would you suggest for older ladies just starting out? I broke my foot years ago and it's very weak now. Problem is I just got a new job and am expecting to dress very professional and heels are a part of that
@@CrystalClues omg Crystal, I've been doing these I can feel the gastrocnemius muscles aka calves transform which I already have big calf's as it is lol, from my bodybuilding days thanks for sharing because I haven't been able to wear heels in year's
@@CrystalClues so I overdid it 🤦🏻♀️ I did 200 less than 24 hours apart I can barely walk and putting my heel on the ground is so painful so I'm hoping to rest it and try it again once it's better update but I love the training and my calves look great just very painfully lol
@@CrystalClues I'm glad your able to laugh of my pain lol 😆 like lucky I'm Lmt so I worked out my knots with trigger therapy but girl let me tell you I had about 20 of them lol 😆 I was up on my toes for couple days lol 😆 can't wait to get back at it
It’s all about heel height for beginners - start with a shorter 2 inches and then go from there :) whatever is comfortable for you and will get you wearing them for longer periods is all you need to start with. The fashion or style is less relevant. You need to get accustomed to the height first.
Yes, daddy researching and watching this video on behalf of my 15 year old daughter (for her homecoming dance) and found my friend Crystal. Oh my goodness. That's some gorgeous legs and feet, Crystal! 😍😍😍 Ok...forwarding the video link to my daughter and unwillingly waving goodbye to Crystal's gorgeous legs and feet. 👋 👋 👋 All humor aside, this is such a wonderful video and exercises that also compliments my daughter's footwork and agility training for her basketball too.👍👍👍 Thank you so much Crystal!🌺🌺🌺Mahalo.
Sweety I love high heels👠. Me and my sisters, we even can run in high heels and we did a little race in high heels and we are fine. I know that this is crazy but we are crazy but also sweet. We love sweet things like hearts, like flowers and we did ballet in childhood as well. We still dance. I love ballet
Thank you for this, I used to wear heels every dang day for work, but now that I had a career change and wear nothing but scrubs and sneakers, I find that I can't do this anymore. I will let you know how this goes.
My Ballet teach always said walking in high heels 👠 is not a good idea all the time 😮 because it cause you leg and ankle TENDONS too SHORTEN, she forbid us too walk in heels but said if we did don't do it often!
@@CrystalClues I love wearing High Heels but I had an issue with my leg last year and it was something to do with the nerve pressing on my leg muscles all's good now, however, I am "relearning" how to walk in em again its a pain I want to walk in them gracefully like we dream of.
Owwww that doesn’t sound fun. I’m so sorry you had to go through that Craig! But I bet your walk is either already fabulous or well on its way. 😍I love that you love the heels 👠
Is this for teen girls also, as I am a girl and I found it too difficult to walk in heels that’s why I want to ask can teen girls also do this? Please reply Crystal mam I am facing a problem from lot of tym
