Great video, I really like the way that you set up the images of the pedals and were very thorough with showing the different settings. I imagine that it was a challenge to set up the demonstration but it was well done.
You suggested going and subscribing to your channel again, and I remembered before you said that some subscribers were saying it was showing that they hadn't subscribed, even when they had. I decided to go take a look real quick, and it said I wasn't subscribed. This is the third time now that this has happened. I wonder what is going on? Does not seem fair. I had a music video, I posted from my band, shared on Facebook, and they removed it from every one of my Facebook pages, saying it was a phishing scam, trying to get private information from people. I don't know what's going on with these social media websites, where they take down content that you spend countless hours on and get by with it. I will check regularly to make sure that I am still subscribed to your channel. Keep up the good work!
I agree. You have a fantastic process for showing the device on screen while you demo it. Especially when you consider all the ways it can be poorly done. You also cover each device’s options really well. Again, there are so many ways to fall short. I mean, it really is super obvious why companies would want you to demo their gear. Given all that, I was still surprised to see you do this. It’s not just that I’ve almost never seen you do it, but you said it’s a lot of hard work too. So I’m thinking the obvious conclusion is that we should congratulate you. Apparently, an Italian company is willing to pay an acceptable fee for your impartial, objective, and professional demo. Very copasetic, boss; My compliments. I keep saying this in various ways, but I am absolutely astonished by your musicianship. Seriously, I’m not smoking you. I can be specific. Your sweeps are impeccable; with articulate velocity. Your hammer-ons are variable and fluid; not stuck in one pattern or place, and there’re no seams in the transitions. You’re able to write something new each time you post a video. (The first three are free. lol) And DUDE, that Charvel is positively GORGEOUS!! (Ahem)…. but don’t tell anybody I said that. I’m a grown-ass man with a reputation to create. What I meant to say, was “bad ass!” By the way, disclaimer, I really admire Max’s playing too. As you know, we can respect more than one person. Anyway, congrats. I hope your aggregate YT investment is more than adequately compensated. We know you work hard for it.
As always great video brother. I love these types of pedals. Easy on the wallet for people just getting into pedals. There are some serious gems out there. Would have been cool to run the boost along with the distortion too
I use a modeling amp, but it has some limitations, especially in regards to looping. When I'm just noodling for fun, the amp is just fine, but I do want to do more and that's where pedals will come in. Also, so many pedals are miniature works of art these days. Even the affordable ones. They're kind of like Hot Wheels or trading cards for music nerds! 🤘
The Distortion pedal was pretty solid. The boost did add a good amount of saturation. I can see it being useful for getting a thicker 80's style tone. Not sold on the Delay pedal, but it would be better than having no delay at all if you're looking for a sound that needs it.
I might make a unboxing video of my Firefly maybe Tuesday. I've did videos of my band but never one of like just talking and showing gear. That would be a new experience. Maybe
The Salem Boost says "Hubble, Bubble, Rhythm and Trouble", but it'd be way cooler if it said, "Hubble, Bubble, Rhythm and Treble" as a nod to the Les Paul poker chip text on the selector switch.

3-band EQ is not bad for distortion and it didn't fizz out as the gain went up. The boost sounds more like an overdrive. The delay was interesting because the filter determines the decay on the repeats. An analog delay loses treble and gets darker whereas as a tape delay get's brighter and loses bass. You could hear that in your demo, so get an analog and tape style delay in one pedal which is cool. Not sure about the price points. The market is saturated (get it) with gain pedals. I got a NU-X tape delay for around 60 bucks which has more options than this one, though having the two types in this one pedal is a nice feature.
are guitar effects pedals a dying breed, headed towards extinction? In 2024, all the new gear talk is about IRs and modelers. Even traditional tube amp heads are going the way of the dodo it seems. I recently bought one of those all in one effect pedal things with literally 100s of different effects at your feet. Yes, some are lacking and pretty much not usable, but the convenience of not having a huge pedalboard as well as investing in a bunch of stomp boxes makes it a worthwhile tradeoff IMHO. I would think prices of effects pedals will continue to drop as more and more players migrate towards modelers.
*also - interested to see if the Salem Boost would work like a Klon, where you have it on with an overdriven amp tone from the start. Did you try it like that?
Do I need pedals to complicate my plight? I already have more amplifier than I need! You know , 40 watts of novice noise! I'm hear for the inspiration! That doesn't come from a store or TEMU! IMPOSSIBLE??? Or, I'm possible? Thanks, Richard! KC
