💥 *REALLY IMPORTANT:* Wyndham Rewards points expire after 18 months. Avoid this by having account activity (i.e. earning or redeeming) at least once every 18 months. *HOWEVER,* points will auto expire 4 years (48 months) from the date they are initially earned, regardless of account activity. *For this reason, DO NOT HOARD WYNDHAM POINTS. Earn them and redeem them.* 😉✈️ 💳 *ALSO:* There've been reports of the Wyndham Earner Business Card reporting to personal credit reports if opened starting in 2022. Wyndham Rewards card points expire after 18 months of inactivity ONLY....causing a loss of points. Meaning that the points will TRULY last 4 years from your last stay(if you earned them then), however if your rewards account is stagnant with no changes for 18 consecutive months, they view you as being "inactive", and your points are erased. I just wanted to clarify as the wording is a bit funky. "Except as may otherwise be required under applicable law, Wyndham Rewards points expire four (4) years after the checkout date of the stay for which the applicable points are posted to the Member's account (the “Four Year Rule”), unless the points are forfeited or cancelled earlier due to membership inactivity (as more particularly described below), or otherwise in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. All accrued points in a Member's Wyndham Rewards account may be cancelled or forfeited if the Member has no Account Activity (as defined below) for a period of eighteen (18) consecutive months. For purposes of these Terms and Conditions, "Account Activity" means any point earning, redemption or transfer activity involving a change in the Member's Wyndham Rewards point balance."

@@investintocore3519 - Yes. Making a purchase 1x per month will allow you to earn points to keep your overall account active and avoid the 18-month rule. Then, points will expire 4 years after they're earned no matter what.

Searched for info on Wyndham because it is a Capital One transfer partner. I created a rewards account for use later on when travel picks up. I have over 70,000 Venture points ready for air travel and hotels. Thanks for the thorough review and thoughts about these cards.

Darn, and I just got the Costco Card for gas! Still, I'm going to get the business version. We already stay at Wyndham's mid-tier and resort hotels, enough to actively use the old credit card. The earning rate and redemption discount are a huge improvement! We're backing off from Marriott, keep enough MR points 3:1 flowing to Hilton for free nights, and eventually want to add the Hyatt card for 15K a year in spend (chisel our reliance on Sheraton in port cities). Of course, these new rewards will only make me lean more towards Wyndham when all things are equal.

Great comments! First time I listened to someone that made me understand the difference of a card free from annual fee versus a card with annual fee (annual fee cards offer a mid/higher tier end). Is good to see how those hotel chains develop their purchasing ecosystems like Apple Card did by encouraging people to buy just certain brands.

I’ve got the biz card mostly for the 5x utilities. I just stayed at a brand new hotel in Westminster, Colorado - the Wyndham Origin - it was really hip and nice. They have another one near Red Rocks.

@@MarkReese They have quite a few nice hotels if you spend some time looking. I save my faves in the app. They’ve got some nice ones in Puerto Rico, Kona, Belize, Greece, Sedona, Napa, Savannah, NYC, and even some nice La Quintas in Santa Rosa and Lake Powell. Their TRYP brand is pretty hip. I’ve got my eye on one in Mexico City.

Thanks...this was very informative. I like the way you pack lots of good info into a 10 minute video. Wyndham seems to get overlooked in this rewards game, as Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt seem more prominent and prestigious. Not a big fan of the Days Inn or Ramada hotels, though.

Just got my Wyndham Earner Reward credit card today. Im a little disappointed in the credit limit (only $750) I got but I will give it a chance. Hopefully they will give me a generous increase in due time. But it doesn't bother me too bad as I have just received two other cards that gave me decent limits.

Thanks for covering this Mark! I watch other credit card focused channels like AskSebby and Credit Shifu, but it seems like neither of them have covered these cards. I've watched quite a few of your videos and really enjoyed them! Haven't really commented on them that much before now. So for the Wyndham Plus, at least for the first year, it's a no brainer because the effective SUB is $420, or $495-75, compared to the $330 for the no AF card?

I have the basic card with no annual fee. I think that the do have some luxury hotels, such as Wyndham Grand and Dolce Hotels and Resorts. However, they are hard to find.

Hi Rasheem - I don't think Wyndham allows you to transfer your points to another member's account. Also don't see the option anywhere in my Wyndham account. If you cancel the credit cards, yes, you'll still keep the points as they're stored in your Wyndham Rewards account (not on the card itself) 👍

Will have an issue obtaining this card due to many open cards in less than a year plus Barclays Credit Cards rules & my only chance is American Express Hilton Honors Card since I was approved for American Express Gold Card and Blue Cash Preferred® Card in last 5 days plus I am an authorized user on my wife's Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card. With as so many bank card rules I am out of luck except maybe Citibank as my eye is on Citi Custom Cash Card. I just have to join Wyndham loyalty program to get free nights since I do all year round road trips. I do enjoy your channel along with Proud Money because both of you make the information very understandable to an average person, plus not giving false hopes regarding travel points and to live in a fantasy island dream.

When you consider that Wyndham points transfer to Caesars at a 1:1 ratio, that business card is an annual moneymaker for Vegas/AC goers - providing $150 towards gaming, restaurant and hotel spending. Add in that matching to Caesars Diamond status gets a $100 anniversary dinner credit, a four night stay at Atlantis in the Bahamas, two nights in Dubai, and random comps throughout the year.... All for holding one $95 card? Sign me up 👋🏿

I just got approved for the Barlays Earner Access Card. I had to jump through a few hoops lol. I was getting my CR fixed, and so I got declined earlier this month, but once some things were removed from my report, called the consideration line, was very pleasant with the lady I spoke with, and she turned the denial into an approval :) She re-ran my CR and was able to do the approval. Transferred me to the security department for a few verification questions, and bam :) Very nice experience today!

I can't guarantee all properties will be the same, but in my experience, no - you do not need to pay taxes on free nights as the points cover that cost.

Hey Mark, great video!!! You said it doesn't count toward 5/24 but mine did count, i saw a credit pull from Barclay on my TransUnion credit report, any ideas why? Thanks Mark!!!

All good, that's expected 😃👍 The 5/24 Rule isn't affected by inquiries...only the # of opened accounts. Small business cards will still pull your personal credit report and add an inquiry. But the Wyndham Earner Business Card will not _appear_ on your credit report, therefore Chase won't be able to see it when counting your 5/24 status. Make sense?

So question the Wyndham rewards earner card with $7,500 annual points is worth 1 free night at most of their properties just making sure because their doing it different than most hotel card that give you a free night ticket no matter the price but but Wyndham is giving points. Also an additional question is since you are getting annual points can you roll those over year to year?

It's basically the same. The certificates offered by many other hotel cards have value limit expressed in points (e.g. "up to X points"). The downside to those is that they all expire after 1 year. Getting points is better in many situations as points do not usually expire after 1 year as long as you maintain account activity. Wyndham points are different though. While you can roll over the points year after year, they have a maximum life of 4 years.

Any sense of if Wyndham will offer a higher sign up bonus or should we expect 45k for the earner going forward? Anticipating when to jump on this card.

No idea when a higher offer will become available. However, I'd bet that it will go higher than 45K at some point.

Any advice on getting approved for the business card? My credit is excellent, but I have never done a business credit card before and I know Barclays can be picky about approvals, and it sounds like they might even require some documentation. I made some money flipping golf equipment during the pandemic (as I was bored and it allowed me to upgrade too). So, I was thinking of listing that as my “business” and doing the sole proprietorship in my name thing. Maybe it’s not worth the hard pull though, if they’d have to see business documentation to approve me? I could get an EIN, if that helped, but don’t think it’d be worth getting an LLC or anything like that.

Awesome that you increased your income during the pandemic, well done! 😃💯 It may still be worth applying for the Wyndham Business card if you could find strong value in the new 90K bonus + ongoing rewards categories. Seems like data points may vary: some people get approved without any documentation, other needed to submit a driver's license + utility bill, and still others may need more info. I think I’m leaning towards giving it a shot after I’m close to hitting the SUB on my Sapphire Preferred (got the 100k, plus waived AF first year, plus $50 grocery credit 😁) Seems that all my other hard inquiries have been at bureaus other than TransUnion lately too, so not as bad to give it a shot and worst case I only have 1 hard pull on TransUnion.

@@MaxWilliams247 - Yep, good plan. I recommend using your existing Barclays card a bit before applying, and if you've got a clean TU report - which is typically favored by Barclays - that may work nicely in your favor 😃💯

Eccentric Digital Media - Although Barclay’s does not publish the min. required credit score, I’d say if you have around a 680 or better you’ll be in good shape to apply 👍

@@MarkReese what bureaus do they pull from? I am at 3/24 and waiting a few months to get both freedom cards then will go for one of these. How would I get a business card? Any special rules regarding Barclays such as 5/24?

@@a3sully - It most situations Barclays pulls TransUnion. For a business card, simply have a business & apply; it's quite simple 😁👌 Be aware that they may ask for business documentation / paperwork. Barclays also has a 'soft' 6/24 rule that they may or may not use. To be on the safer side, it's best to have not opened more than 6 cards across all banks in the past 24 months. Also, if you're considering multiple Barclays cards, it's best to wait ~ 6 months between each application.

Great video, I'll subscribe but your delusional thinking points are worth 1.1 cents. Please tell me how you get this value. I do good to get .6 - .8 cents each. Even at that value I find the business card a good card however.

WingJoint - Glad you enjoyed the video! I typically use the point valuations from TPG, which are all an average that often takes into account other factors. As an example, TPG values Hyatt points at 1.7¢ each. I’ve done Hyatt redemptions where I only got about 1.1¢, and other redemptions where I got between 3.0¢ - 4.2¢ each. It can vary widely and is by no means a guaranteed value 😃👍 Agreed...Wyndham + Barclays did something quite spectacular with that biz card 💯

All depends on what you get. If I’m getting a club Wyndham stay at NYC midtown45 for 30,000 points....you are getting a ridiculous deal there. Awesome deals overseas too as Wyndham has far better luxury offers overseas. Likewise, you get booking discounts, points percentage off(10,15,20%), on top of using your points. While I haven’t used it, it’s been rumored that 1br vacasa stays are 15,000pts/night, which would just be an absolutely absurd value that will eventually go away based on his good of a deal that would be.
