I had the exact same thoughts! Tried these out today at our gym against a taller guy who was more lean and then a bit shorter tank guy. I myself am short too (168cm/72kg atm) and had GREAT success. The keypoints these guys showed were the gamechanger that turned this from a ”good lesson” to a ”great lesson”. Magnifique!

I was a bouncer for a long time in the early 90s before BJJ was a thing. I so wish we had BJJ back then because even though I was 5'11' and 90kg there was so many guys at 6"3' to 6"6' and 10 to 30 kg heavier that having the better body mechanics would have helped so much. #Respect

We don’t learn any of this in my bjj class. Hopes this helps you come up with a new video idea and thanks in advance 😊

Im curious why they tape their fingers randomly? Some people tape certain ones and other people tape others, is that a JJ thing for better grip technique. If so would that work in Judo? My daughter is training and I wondered if that may help her technique, and of course is legal in Judo. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated 👍

I like these ideas. I really have no idea how to wrestle or grapple or throw or anything. I specialize in weaponry and disarms and joint locks. All the joint locks I use are used standing or crouching and are illegal in grappling competitions as they are small joint manipulations and also standing is illegal I believe.

@TravisStevensgrappling
@TravisStevensgrappling 5 лет назад
For beginners, they are a lot less risky as far as being in a bad position. They are also easier to learn. BJJ players move differently than just players so judo style takedowns can be harder.
@TravisStevensgrappling

They are easier for people to learn and apply to BJJ. Judo can be a challenge for a lot of people without experience in traditional judo.

This is all great if the opponent decides to stop being athletic and stays as light as possible on their feet. The reality of these moves is the often won't work the way you anticipate. They need to chain with other attacks because no one just "gets arm dragged" at least not in my area.
@TravisStevensgrappling
@TravisStevensgrappling 3 года назад
Thats why it's the three you need to know. As you improve the more you need to chain together. But still a simple arm drag can work against the best grapplers.
