My new Web site is: www.lelandskla.... The new book is there and lots of goodies in the works... Here are the directions to my new club house if you want to come and hang. flatfiv.co/pag...
Interesting going back and seeing the first videos I did for this channel. Nice chopping my head off. A lot of You Tube sites are so slick and well produced. NOT MINE!!!!!!!😳
@@jamesmilos9909 I second this! These were healing moments in those crazy times. Along with covid lockdown we had a massive earthquake with thousand plus aftershocks. But every day in the evening we would check what "our" Leland prepared for us. Thank you, Leland, from the bottom of our hearts!
"resist tRUMP" LOL. What a disconnected-from-reality LOSER! Stick to laying down the low end (which a keyboard player can do with his/her left hand). Seriously laughable political activism. But solid bass playing.
I know that this is probably going to get buried sir, but thanks for posting these. I've been sitting in my room for the most part of 56 days now and hearing you play makes me happy.
@@Shred_The_Weapon Because people's understanding and mastering of music is an endangered practice. They let machines and computers do most of the work now.
😂😂😂 of course he was.. that's the one and only....very humble dude.. great bass player.. one of the best of all times in my opinion and talked about too less unfortunately.. he blew my kind with the concert live in between with TOTO few years ago.. Respect Sir .
These are so cool man, thank you for all the wonderful music you’ve made and especially for these videos, they inspired me to get into the industry and I cannot thank you enough!
Linhas que crescem conforme a música. Além do talento em criar belas linhas ele sabe ser exemplar na dinâmica. Bom não é por nada que a carreira dele é de tanto sucesso principalmente gravando.
Mr Sklar is a monumental musician!!.....i have seen/heard his work on so many songs.....not sure if i remember him at the garden in NYC....1986 Invisible touch tour....but I and my buds were row 13 side of stage back then...Phil and chester thompson were there...the twin drum sets....it was a magial concert to say the least...almost 3 hours of nonstop COOLNESS!!!
Hi Leland. You are like an Uncle I never met. I have uncles but not with massive beards that played with Phil Collins. I know you have worked outside of Phil Collins but you were such a part of my growing up. There was always a beard playing bass. Love you, take care and be safe. Love Adam xx
Again, thanks for sharing... I love the way you play in such a relaxed way... And you sound absolutely amazing... Cheers, looking forward for a new video...
I'm about to purchase a bass guitar after almost 25 years without playing any bass guitar. You are my biggest inspiration on this. I was in a rock band when I was 18 or 19 years old. I played guitar and bass (very bad, by the way). Life took me in other directions to earn a living, but the passion for music never left me. I'm going to play again, even if it's just for fun.
As a bassist who's been enormously influenced by you, I'd just like to say how wonderful it is to see you playing so up close and 'raw'. I first discovered you when I started playing around 22 years ago and you've always very much been a benchmark of what great playing should be for me. Thank you so much for uploading these, and thank you for showing me how it should be done and helping me become a better player. Wishing you all the very best in these strange times!
the best life-affirming video I've ever seen in a year !!! May the path of these musicians and these emotions be long! In the end - our whole life is a dedication ... and to whom or what - everyone decides for himself))) This video is a sign of light! - let's smile! (ps_ sorry google translator - hello from siberia!)))
Em primeiro lugar, que timbre lindíssimo desse baixo... segundo, que execução segura!!!! Parabéns, excelente instrumento na mão de um excelente músico!
I've always found this song so moving.. and somehow hearing it with emphasis on your sublime bassline makes it even more moving. Thank you Mr. Sklar. : )
I've been fallowing Lee since May of this year, and he has turned me into a bass lover, which because of my ignorance, I thought less of it. He is an amazing and beautiful human being, and hope he stays with us for ever. Cheers!!
What an awesome old bass.......and an awesome old bassist.......Still got a very solid pocket dude - perfect note durations, flourishes, grace notes, solid like concrete!!!!
Thanks Mr. Sklar. Everyone in the world were able to know there's a bass guitar in a band due to you. I first saw you when I'm 14 and today I'm 44... God bless you.
Hey, I saw ya'll at the Houston Astro Dome ...'92? I was the one with the extreme 'hottie!' close to the front! Yes, Sandy loved your show too and showed me great appreciation! Man, that was a great night!
Te felicito mi Leland! Eres un talentoso musico. En estos momentos de contingencia tememos que hacer cosas productivas como compartirnos a los demás. Gracias por hacerte presente.
Wow, this takes me back! I had just started high school and the music room had a keyboard corner with Roland MT-32 sound modules and PR-100 sequencers. I learned to use the equipment by working out the parts for this song and playing them onto the PR-100. I still have the QuickDisk stashed away but no idea if it's still readable - I'm going to try and find something that might read it. Thanks Lee for all you're doing. Let's spare a thought for those without homes, shelter or care during COVID-19...
Thankyou Leland for this bassline. I've been waiting (looking forward) for bassline the song Hand in Hand. I Wish good health in New 2021 Year. Peter from Poland.
I am a more recent admirer of yours. But see, i ve been listening to this masterpiece for years. I ve been tracking the bassline for the whole time.( i am not a bassist. But can 'feel' the bass. It s my favourite part of a song.) But shame it took me a lifetime to discover the name 'leland sklar'. I regret i should have searched your name much earlier . But now i am addicted 😊. Everyday ,looking forward to see you .
Wow. I love this man. Touch, tone, groove. Close up of one of the top session/touring musicians of all time. 40 plus years in the game. Thanks Leland. If nobody else tells you then I will. I appreciate you bruh.
Telling you!!!! I' m enjoying these vids yours a !ot !!! Thanks a lot Dr. Musician.....a lot ofmemories come back to me about Spain and 1989-1991 what a Great Time to live in Spain...well..there ' s always a SUN over Spain....innit ????
Hi sir, can you believe that this takes me back to my childhood? You playing the base in a little place called Berlin with Phil Collins where he asked the recently united German public "fur eine Spende". Yes it was the "Serious Hits..." tour you did with him way back in the summer of 1990. For me this was a special year. I might have been born in 1986 but I already went to my great grandmother on the other side of the wall, and had the rare opportunity to even be in East Germany as a kid from the West. I still remember how overjoyed everyone in the family and around us were when in on the 9th of November 1989, and the Serious Hits World Tour from Berlin, like the fall of the Berlin wall, was broadcast live to us in the Netherlands on Independence Day... 14th of July 1990. I still remember sitting down with my parents in front of the television with the audio blasting through our home whilst the VCR was quickly enabled to record it all. It was for me the first true glimps that has always stood by me as a kid of the German people being happily together again. Albeit I didn't know that my great grandmother who had sadly witnessed two world wars and had gone through the whole communist ordeal of the German Democratic Republic would not live long to enjoy her freedom. Despite that the music of that day and the energy of that show and the crowd is still with me today, and I had always wondered who the bassist was. It wasn't until much later that I finally got a DVD copy of that concert that I finally saw your name. Now I taught myself some guitar and bass, albeit being rubbish. Sadly, after you've then played in a time of freedom I now find you again through RU-vid (which I never would have guessed) in a time where we are all locked up again as people of the world. How strange life can be, but I still wish to thank you and everyone of the band of that concert in Berlin on Independence Day for all the feelings your music has given me. Impressing a back then 4 year old kid enough to last a lifetime. Thank you!
This is exactly what I like about seeing live shows, is exactly how the new arrangements are done, it's a whole new experience, there's so much energy infused in live performance...
Beautiful song. I have always admired you. you are an excellent musician. The best time of my life has been under the generation of 80. A hug from the Argentine Patagonia.
Don't know why RU-vid always recommends randomly old videos but I'm glad it did, what a great song, thanks Mr Sklar to share this. Hope to meet you some day, take care, hope you'll be doing good soon.
