I agree with you that the Shock and Awe Tomahawk is an excellent piece of kit. I have lots of gear that I’ve bought double and triple times. I keep an emergency bag in my Jeep (you might call it a get-home bag), as well as my camping backpack. They have almost identical gear, although the Jeep kit has more tools and food. The TOPS Tahoma Field Knife is so good, I had to put one in my emergency bag as well as my regular backpack. After 35 years of use, the Cammenga lensatic compass that I had issued to me in the Marines, went cloudy. It still worked but was really hard to see. I bought a new one, and a week later bought the tritium model. I didn’t want to not have one. Lots of other gear I double up on: * PureFire Tactical Fire Starter (I like the folding model) * Emberlit FireAnt stove * Survivor Water Filter Straw * Snugpack Sleeping Bag Edged tools: * TOPS Outpost Command knife * TOPS Prather War Bowie * Silky Gomboy folding saw *SOG Voodoo Tomahawk * Cold Steel Spetznaz Shovel

For me it´s: * Schrade tactical pen, two in black and one in gun metal * a combo if Tasmanian Tiger bottle holder, Nalgene Oasis widemouth bottle and Tatonka stainless steel cup * Böker speedlock pocket knife For a while Tatonka reduced the diameter of the just enough to prevent the Nalgene bottle from nesting. For the honorable mentions: Buck 110, Trangia 27 cookset and the good old Bundeswehr cuttlery set

You hit the nail on the head with this one. Im always looking to grab copies if i can. I recently bought a second cold steel bushman. One of my biggest reasons is inflation/popularity increases. I bought my samick sage recurve like 5 years ago for $89, and now its hovering around $150. 5 years ago not a lot of people knew about it, but now its a well known product. This was a great topic for a video. Thanks again for all the content brother. ✊

Hey Daniel your just the best man. Ive seen so many gimmick diamond steels pop up lately. They are about 5 inches long at best. Made from diamond. Do you know of any cheff length steel that has say zirconium one side; and a normal high carbon steel on the other side?? They are oval kinda profile.

With most things in particular knives I usually buy two. If the price is really a deal, I'll buy three or more. I got a few knives in the past at such a reduction in price that I bought three and four of them. A few I have bought even more. But when buying two, I have one I don't use for the collection and one that is there if I want to use it. If I have more of a knife, whether it be two or more I can use them as traders if necessary or as a gift to someone who likes the knife. I have bought multiples of folders that I like. One for the tool box, one for my truck sunvisor, one to carry and one for the collection. I carry everyday my Cold Steel Voyager Tanto XL. I bought two of them and one of another of the same knife but it's the clip point model. I bought two of the Cold Steel Pocket Bushman, two of the large Luzon folders. The list of knives I have bought more than one of is long. Lately because of Ontario Knives closing their doors I have bought extras of their blades. I have three of my favorite fixed blades, sitting side by side in their sheaths, with an attached to the sheath survival kit. They are ready to go anytime. You are so right that they just Stop making knives or gear items in general. Then that day comes you want to replace it and you discover that it's no longer available. I have run into that a few times. Now when I buy a pair of athletic shoes or jackets that I really like, I buy two pair of shoes or two jackets. I bought a winter jacket last year. It was so good I bought two the same. Earlier this year I bought two Levi jackets the same. It works. I got asked why I buy two knives all the time? I told them , "it's so I have one for each hand."

For me it was Cold Steel Taipen San Mai VG-10 that I was profoundly impressed with. The second one was ordered soon after. Then the CPM 3 version of the same knife came out and I ordered 2 of these as well. Heck, I wouldn't mind having 10 of these ultimate battle knives lol, made so beautifully with their shaving sharp both sides of the blade, a perfect last stand defence against angry bear keen on ripping you alive/ Those who never held one of these incredible blades will never understand what I am talking about.

The itens that I've purchased more than once are fero rods, & silky saws. I haven't purchased a knife for over 8 years now. I forge my own knives, swords, axes .etc, have them in every room in my house Ive made copys of OKC rat 3 in stainless steel, AR 500 steel, Aus 8 etc. Wakazashi swords in 1095, tool steel, stainless steel, AR 500 steel. Axes in tool steel, AR 500 & stainless steel. I've also made arrow heads & spears from various steel. I'm a firm believer of 2 is 1 & 1 is none rule when it comes to edge weapons & firearm. Be safe, stay safe folks , the world is shit show these days.

About 10 years ago, I got a Spyderco PM2, and thought it was the best knife ever,, so, I bought a second one as soon as I could afford it,. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to sell the "back-up" version, which was un-used and still in its box,, 🤣,, so, someone ended up with a real bargain,, lol.. I've just bought a Starrett sharpening steel, and it's fantastic, so I'm gonna buy another, "just in case". Ha ha,, All the best my friend, from across the pond,, 🗡️🗡️👍

Hello and thanks for the intriguing question. My first three "doubles", which later became triples and even quadruples, were: the Crusader throwing ax made by Wulflund, the True Flight by Cold Steel, and the Condor Dismissal. I throw for passion, as a hobby, a sport, and also, without being seen, for hunting purposes. The wear and the risk of losing my blades (fortunately has never happened so far) leads me to frequent repurchases. I need to have certain items available in my belt. There are others of course. One in particular that I like to mention: I have several copies of Russian Yasnyi Sokol knives, I love them so much, in particular the Spider is also my EDC, I use it for food and other light tasks while I never dared to throw it. Still another copy of it is jealously guarded in my home collection.

Always have to have at least one SAK with a notching saw, up to 6 or 7 now. Hultafors or Mora HDs are my favourite work knives, have 3 of those. Here's an unusual one. Have to have a proper cup for my coffee first thing in the morning when out hiking/camping, the most cup like but light and most practical are the large Wildo Foldacups. Have 3 of those.

Appreciate your logic. Companies make great products and then discontinue them...its so frustrating!! How can I recommend a product when its no longer available?? Gerber made a sheath knife called a "Kayak" in the 70's or 80's which is both an outstanding dive knife and a neck knife and I would give my sons each one if still available. I love my Buck 704 penknife. It is sharp, has a strong backspring so no lock is needed, and it will do 90% of my cutting jobs. I had to go to ebay to find a 2nd one. I, too love the Mora Companion and have a second one of that. Lastly my Bahco Laplander folding saw is so effective I bought a 2nd one of that and keep it in storage.

@@411Outdoors Daniel, would you consider making a video about quality budget clones of expensive knives? I have often noticed that simply putting the words "tactical", "combat", or even "survival" or "bushcraft" on what are essentially inexpensive, mass-produced hunting/utility knives allows companies to inflate the price by at least 5-10 times. For example, the expensive Shivworks clinchpick knife you made a video on a few months ago is essentially a Schrade Old Timer Sharp Finger knife which retails at under $20. I think this could be a popular video as a lot of folks are on tight budgets these days. Even an "inexpensive" Mora companion knife $16 has a highly-rated clone that retails for $4 (I.e. the "Wahoo Killer") on BudK.
