Ryan is the best tennis teacher I have ever seen on YT, believe me, I tried plenty. Thank you, Ryan. What I would add to this golden triple advice is to keep your head unmoved and your eyes looking on the point of connecting the racket with the upcoming ball for the entire swing until the ball is hit, and only then observe how and where the ball flies. It's perfectly visible at the end of Ryan's video. A similar rule you can meet in golf during a swing.

Thank you. My pal Omar said I looked like Tyrannosaurus Rex bc my leaden footwork let the ball get too close. He had me straighten the elbow of my non-hitting arm and keep the ball at my fingertips - then he had me catch my racket in front to make sure my balls were going deep enough. T. Rex is mostly gone and I have better footwork but I get less topspin. Hmm. I want to practice a shoulder catch

Djokovic seems to complete a good portion of the drop before opening the arm. Serena, older school, seems to open the arm a bit earlier.

Really, I feel confused. I've put into practice all your advice and prioritize them above any others. However, next to your video, there are 10 other tennis coaches' videos saying completely the opposite, showing with slow-motion videos the opposite of what you say, etc. The same happens in serving, and practically in every stroke. At your level, do professional coaches have so much contradiction in their stances? It really surprises me that there are such contradictory positions. Not just small variations, but directly contradicting each other. Has this always happened among you coaches?

I know and understand your frustration. And sorry you feel this way. It’s quite simple actually. Some coaches choose to teach the most advanced info that really requires being a world class athlete in order to make it work (not me). And some coaches (me) teach basics that work for both rec players and pros. Here’s what I’d say, if you hear a coach teaching you “modern” techniques… run away. Fast. What they’re saying is “I’m gonna teach you really complicated stuff that you’d have to be Roger Federer in order to make it work. But, it’ll make me sound really smart and advanced and you’ll really respect me as a coach.” Rec players (esp those who search on RU-vid for tennis tips) need super basic info that is guaranteed to help you improve. That’s what I teach. Half the stuff I hear coaches saying and teaching I can’t even do well, and I’m a 5.0 player (not that that’s a super high level like a pro, but I’m a good player… that’s all I’m saying). Plain and simple… be brilliant with basics rather than clumsy with “modern” or “next gen” technique. “Old school” is almost always “better school”. Thanks… you got this!

@@2MinuteTennis Thank you for your time. Brilliant argument. I've always wondered if you have an academic background in Engineering or a related profession. I really admire the logical coherence that you always impart to your arguments and the justification of your positions. Thank you very much for all the time you dedicate to helping us improve.

This is all wrong! You are not hitting the ball with that top spin pro junk of device, you are just touching the ball. You are missing the core of the shot, that penetrating moment through the ball. That is where power is. Low to high swing path is a myth! It happens naturally by going through the ball in most penetrating way possible. You are creating it artificially and by doing that you are losing racket head speed and again ruining that penetrating moment of the shot. Low to high moment MUST happen naturally, and it happens since racket start low on the height of the ball, and finishing higher around shoulder level, that is all low to high swing path you need. Palm of the non hitting hand must be pointed to yourself, not to the opponent. Difference is huge to create maximum racket head speed. You are close of everything, but still you are making vital mistakes on every aspect of the forehand.

@Deltoidbeast You seem excited but you also confuse me. Please explain how a low to high swing path occurs “naturally” in the human species, which did not evolve to play tennis as fish have evolved to swim. 🤔
@DeltoidBeast
@DeltoidBeast 5 месяцев назад
@@paddlepower888 Evolution is also a myth. Every species is like it is. Evolution does not exist, it is a lie. I already explained it how low to high swing path happens. Your racket starts lower than the position it finishes. That gives low to high swing path. Point is that low to high swing path should not be in the focus of a player. Focus should be to accelerate that racket to maximum speed by uncoilling the body. If you focus to hit low to high it will result in weak shot.

How can you possibly have over 300 forehand videos without the advice becoming a clusterf* of unpractical advice? I mean, how many tips do you expect someone to implement?
@2MinuteTennis

Haha RU-vid doesn’t share my videos from 2 years ago. That’s how the algorithm works. If I don’t keep making videos I’ll get 0 views in a short amount of time. I’m a RU-vidr and make my living on YT. I need views. Plus, 30% of my daily channel views come from people who have never seen my videos before. Meaning, they’re first time viewers of my channel. Trust me, all sports RU-vidr’s basically make the same videos over and over again.

@@2MinuteTennis Ryan, I'm seriously impressed with how quickly you make your videos. For an average youtuber creating a video like this would take 1-2 days of solid work - lots of research, writing the script, recording in many, many takes (making lots of mistakes), entire post production, etc. I have an impression that you can do it MUCH faster. You are not only a GREAT coach, but also an exceptionally proficient video creator. Keep up the good work, I have learnt A LOT from you.
