The Make Noise STO is a versatile module, here are three quick tips that I've picked up on various boards that you may find useful.
Note: During the feedback section I said "Envelope", I should have said "End of Cycle Triggers". But you can see what I meant.

Regarding reducing the LFO speed even further, you can send the same negative CV to the EXPO input AND the 1V/O for extreme slow cycles.

this video is so "short", but you really put a massive amount of help and great tricks in there! bravo!

Three great tips. I think your tip about adding offset is great. It really makes the modulation (wavefolding in your example) much more musical. Thanks. Please keep these tips coming! I’d love to see some tips using Make Noise modDemix.

thanks for a great vid! Easy to overlook modulating the STO with more complex oscillators in a rack, but it really shines with some love :)

Tip for the offset tip: most of the Make Noise CV inputs are from 0 to 8v, not 0 to 5v. The ALM O/A/x2 can add up to 8v, whereas many other 'offset adders' are only up to 5v. I bought it especially for the Telharmonic's CV inputs. p.s. that Wogglebug looks 'sorted' with that faceplate!

I love how dirty it is and also the quality of the dirt.

Pretty cool tips. I only would add that when using the sum out you should remove the channels that won’t be used. The attenuverters on Math can’t really zero out.

Great video. Thanks for the tips! Quick question - do you ever hear a bit of low level hiss, or noise, coming from your STO sine wave output? I don’t hear it from the other outputs. Only the sine wave.

Which one is strictly behaving as an LFO? God bless you all, your video makes me want to learn Make Noise a little more.

I have a question. Is it possible to automate the linear fm while simultaneously feeding the STO oscillator thru?

Why didn’t adding the negative dc voltage to the sto when running it as an lfo reduce the lfos amount?
@Hermbot
@Hermbot 5 лет назад
The negative voltage goes to the 1 v/o input, which only affects the pitch or rate. To lower the LFO depth or amount, you would take the LFO's output itself and run it through a different attenuator.

what is it? Old makenoise modules?

I'm just curious,why you prefer the greyscale faceplates?
@Hermbot
@Hermbot 5 лет назад
I picked up a couple of used modules that had them already on, and I liked the clean aesthetic. Eventually I just swapped them all out from stock. I don't mind the original MN panels, I just really like the grayscales.
@robertsyrett1992

@@Hermbot The MN stuff is pretty nice, but I guess clarity of the front panel does allow you to focus more on the sound. Related follow-up question, what to do you make of the shift to all white knobs? DPO, Maths, etc, all ship with white knobs now.
@Hermbot
@Hermbot 5 лет назад
Robert Syrett they’re neat. Haven’t given it much thought, to be honest. Blue is good, white is good. As long as they’re not orange, orange is too bright in the high mid frequencies.

@@Hermbot LOL, I immediately thought of the new Arturia Mico Freak. Yeah , I guess white knobs on black is a good look. I just kind of like breaking up the colors a little just because it aids in visually navigating a system.

I don't know if it is lossy sound compression or some distortion but your Wavefolding has strange distorted grit to it, which I cannot hear in official Make Noise videos.

You're right, not sure about that one!

Turns out it was the encoding on my side, I figured it out before posting today's video. Thanks!

If you have to use a channel from maths to make the sto go low enough, have you REALLY gained another lfo? 😉

well he just uses math's attenuverter..
