Hondas from the early 90s to mid 2000s were ultra reliable. I have a 2020 Civic Sport Sedan with the 2.0 K20C2 naturally aspirated port injected engine paired to a 6 speed manual transmission. I bought a 2004 Honda Accord with 105,000 miles for $5,000 a few weeks ago. While it was probably a little more expensive than it could be, I really can’t complain. Another car I looked at was a 2013 Honda Civic for sale for $13,000 (and it had the same mileage and had been in an accident).

Used cars have never exactly been the “bargain” that many people believe. Markups in normal times are 30-45%; now it’s probably higher.

I had a 94 honda accord Parents bought it for $800 plus $400 it fix up and replace some parts. Had almost 300k miles. Drove it for 3 years, added over 70k miles, and forgot to replace the timing belt. Caused the engine damage and wouldn't drive anymore without major work. Had I paid more attention to it, I'd still be driving it. Will always love the accords

I did the same thing with one of mine and I could still kick myself cause I'm almost positive it would still be on the road. In my defense I was one of those people unaware of the importance of changing a timing belt/water pump and no mechanic had ever mentioned it. Since then I've tried to learn all I can about car maintenance and do plenty of research.

Thank you for all of your educational videos that helped me spend months on finding a solid vehicle and sell my 2015 Kia Rio and stop making monthly payments!

Bought our son a perfect 2007 Honda Civic 5spd with 130k on it for $4k. Only thing wrong with it was the typically Honda paint fading. Unfortunately he has turned it into a “race” car with a beautiful bed liner paint job that was applied with a paint brush and a straight pipe exhaust put together with AutoZone flex pipe and exhaust tape. Now he pretends to drift his 140hp fwd car in parking lots destroying his clutch, tires and brakes that were all installed at 120k miles before we bought it.

FYI to Scotty's customer. Scotty is rather misinformed about Honda transmissions. This era ( 1998 to 2006 ) of Hondas has notoriously weak automatic transmissions. Scotty claims that the transmission is very reliable, not true at all. At least change the transmission fluid with Honda factory fluid from the dealer. It is the latest updated formulation and should minimize future wear and any issues. Don't use universal ATF from the auto parts store.
@jessewynne8193
@jessewynne8193 2 года назад
The 2000-2003 Honda accords and civics in automatic had known class action law suits for premature transmission failure between 110k to 130k miles They fail without warning! And replacing cost more then the value…not a great year for them… Now manual NO Issues
@kentgorrell

Speaking of research, I needed a 'new' car last year, and after hooking into your chanel, I decided on a Honda Accord 2010 Manual. I hate automatics. Most people hate manuals. Very few people appreciate the Accord. I do. The manual is more zippy and reliable than the auto. Hence a great price on a great car. Just 105,000 kiloometers and It drives superbly. No buyers remorse here. So thanks Scotty.

Got a used '06 Toyota solara convertible 4+ years ago as my first car. Over 250,000 miles now. Had to replace a few parts here and there over the years, but she's ran really well for me. Her age is starting to catch up with her now that she's getting closer to 300k, may have to start making plans to say goodbye within the next few years.
