Thank you! I need to work on that! I've been busy with the Metal Riff Master course! If you haven't seen that yet, I just released it last week: metalmastermind.com/metal-riff-master/
Thanks for this video! When I first got my 7 I really struggled to do anything on it, and I couldn’t play all the riffs I used to play well in my 6. Some months later I’ve really made an effort to understand it more, and I followed your video guide on how to transition from 6 to 7 string guitars, now it’s hard to go back to 6 strings because the neck is so much smaller. Keep up the good work man!
Really glad these videos help dude! To be honest, I still struggle with wanting to play my 6 strings more. That’s probably because my style is a bit more classic and thrash heavy metal though...and I played a 6 for 30 years before getting a 7
Man I love how you vibe while playing. Reminds me of when I was a kid, just started playing the guitar, and often having a lot of uninterrupted basement hours to just play guitar loud. I miss that time.
I absolutely love my seven string, also its equipped with an evertune, that has to be the best bridge I have ever played. I still love playing my six strings, but the seven string is my "go to" guitar... and Dude writing a song together in a live session that is the coolest thing a musician can do with his fans....
I'm glad you caught on to the 7 (I still struggle with wanted to ditch mine and just go back to playing only 6! lol) But yeah, I'm gonna work something up soon for writing a song here!
DUUUUUUUDE! This helped me more than you can imagine. I followed along with every riff, and had a ton of fun adding my own bits! I'd say I'm an intermediate player, but I'm totally new to 7 string, and this helped me soooo much. THANK YOU!!! Rock on, bro--KEEP IT METAL!! I wish I had you as a music teacher when I started playing!!! lol
Thank you...And the shirt...I have a RU-vid premiere on my channel with Ed Aborn, drummer for Siren: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6w9RUsd07EU.html
@@jasonstallworth oh yes I know all about it. Thanks for postponing it till after my birthday. But seriously I've been patiently waiting. I want to see it. You have no idea who this is do you?
@@jasonstallworth That's a sick guitar though. How does it sound in the room with active pickups though? I've heard the low end gets flabby with a high gain amp and active pickups. However.... I use an LTD EC1000S with Fishman Fluence pickups at Drop C and I don't hear it being flabby.
@@johnsguitarmusicanddemos you really have to back the gain off more as you increase the amp volume. And even then, you’ll still notice that difference between a 7 and 6 string. And that’s one of the things I have a tough time with. The 7 isn’t as tight.
I love 7 string but mine has a floyd rose. I really need to get a hardtail so I can use drop tunings without having to go through the pain of floyd rose set up
This guitar stays in tune really well and that’s one of the things I love about it. With the Floyd, it also has locking tuners, which helps reinforce the tuning (and heck of a lot easier changing strings…putting those on all of my guitars now)
I highly recommend learning on a 6 string. In fact, I recommend first learning on an acoustic. I have a video here for the top 5 beginner acoustics: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NyUSezn6njI.html
I'm learning on a 7-string too and I prefer it. Since I'm more interested in extended range guitar there's no reason to learn on a 6 then adapt to a 7. I' I just started with a 7 and moved forward.
start with 6 string.i'm begginer as well, for better undrestanding fretboard,6 is better choice.i asked from a couple guitar teachers cuz i wanted start with 7,but 7 is not good for start.when u worked for 1 year and have better idea about notes, chords etc,get a 7 string as well
I had a love-hate relationship with it for a long time and there are times where I sort of wish I had just stayed with a 6 string...life was more simple! lol
@@jasonstallworth Mentally I'm going to look at it like a bass string/drop D concept. At least until I get it in my hands.. Still just a new set of colors to paint with. Korn chromatic nastiness sounds fun to mess with.
I always wanted a 7string and a few weeks ago I got myself a custom shop one (Aristides). Now that I have it: it's the best guitar I ever played, but I'm constantly thinking if it really was necessary to go 7string or if I should've stick to 6strings and save tons of money 😂
Lol, I completely understand and to be honest, I often feel the same way. More so from the perspective of my music life was more simple with just a 6 string.
@@jasonstallworth Glad to hear that I'm not the only one! And yes, music life was way more simple, but now you can spice up everything. Feel like black sabbath but don't want to miss that nasty breakdown? Let's cover "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" and build in a breakdown an octave lower than the main riff. I think even if you have just a little bit of fun playing around it's worth the money!
I was the complete opposite, I wanted to go to 7 string the first time I heard Rusty Cooley and Francesco Farreri and I never looked back. I call it the lazy mans guitar because you are one fret away from playing 3 octave scales - 3, you, barely have to move your fretting hand. And going down that low and being able to play some notes that a bass player would play just frees you up so much. I now own 4 of the beasts and I think I need one more. I have trouble playing a 6 string now, it's like it's missing a string!!! And the sevens I own are a dream to play. Best thing I ever did!
@@vaughanmacegan4012 it’s great to hear your experience and thanks for sharing! I think that some instruments just feel more natural to some than others.
