as much as i absolutely HATE thieves with a passion and especially this kind of shenanigans, i do respect what i see here and acknowledge you are very good. your ability to play calmly and rationalize every situation and respond accordingly while under pressure is a testament to your experience playing this playstyle. i play mainly gaurdian and roamer (and ranger when i feel like dirty pew pew and to give you thieves a bad day ;). lol). your roaming tips gave me much to concider.
This was really cool. I'm a seriously low end filthy casual ranger, who runs into WvW for dailies. I don't have a guild for WvW because I really don't have time to be consistent. You just showed me some great terrain I didn't know about. And thanks for the nice calm explanation, it makes it easier to learn.
But do you actually kill people? Because when I just jump into WvW on my own, I only run into people with 7k hours and 6 legendaries, no chance to learn anything
There's a disturbing lack of slow-motion human female kneeling and well endowed anime versions of your character as a chat cover in the final montage. You also didn't slow-mo a single stomp. I'm not sure it even counts!
Bro, I love how real you are about stuff. I've learned a crap load from your vids. They helped get me me back into gw2 and more importantly WVW. A game mode I haven't really played in 5-6 years.
Loving the WvW videos Vallun! If you ever get around to it would love to see more of these general instructional videos. WvW related, not bound to any class, just to capture your knowledge when it comes to WvW. How you pick engagements, when you jump fights and when you disengage, your spidey senses basically. Either way, loving the content, keep it up.
Awesome! Fantastic video of the techniques used in the PvX part of WvW. In the example you’ve shown it is only fun for the thief (when they’re talented) though. Everyone else thinks the thief that can do this, is a PITA. :)

You either play ranger, are a better thief, maybe get to oneshot them with a glasscanon or you most likely just ignore them and run with a support or a bunky roaming build. Thief mobility in wvw is just to easily exploited and chasing is in 99% of cases not worth it. Even in this vid Vallun oftentimes just gets to win those fights bec ppl try to chase him down and split up. He is a very good thief and player in general but in terms of whats possible if being outnumberd thief is kinda an outlier with pretty low counterplay if youre knowledgeable ^^... oh and only speaking of wvw roaming, balance in other areas thief isnt as oppressive as other classes can be.
@@sarlanvili9688 true, thief is basically a GOD tr, only in roaming.. in other sort of contents he is not as oppressive as other classes. But in roaming he is just GOD tr. Realistically speaking, no other class can do 1v5s against mithril players.. they will simply die. Imagine if Vallun here instead of a thief, he was with a warrior, in the exact same situations vs the exact same opponents. These montages would not be possible. perma stealth and perma dodge are just too good in roaming scenarios.

You can't Be mithril rank without knowing basic shit. Show me videos where a warrior 1v4s and 1v5s like these. I've seen every warrior video, vans, vallun, Nephistos.. every single warrior video out there. And every time a warrior pulls off an 1vx its against LITERAL bots. players with no rank in wvw, no experience at all, no stun breaks, getting 1 shotted by GS combos. Those kind of players will be killed by every class. But only thief is able to kill so many players at once against players who are not mentally retarded. So where's the proof that warrior's actually 1vx-ing RIGHT now? Cus i am sure they don't.
@@akhsdenlew1861 You do realize people used to farm wvw (eotm) for karma and exp? A player can easily have a high rank from just zerging for years and be terrible on their own. Claiming that everyone that dies to non-thieves are lacking mentally or is a bot just undermines your argument.
Seeing anyone help someone else in WvW outside of organized groups is as rare as a lunar eclipse, and I honestly don't think I've ever seen a roamer help another roamer in my entire time in GW2. Nice video though ignoring all of that.
The vast majority of players I see when I'm roaming are playing thief. There's a very good reason for this. Its a lot harder to do the things shown here when you're not playing a class that has lots of evade, teleports and stealth. The class is really overtuned for WvW.
And a vast majority of the players I see roaming are sic em soulbeasts. The reason for this is simple. They snipe you while sitting in a tower or high ground and there's rarely anything you can do to retaliate. Honestly tho, 90% of the thieves I come across just chain cooldowns rapidly, and are sitting ducks after that

Every time i roam all i face are daredevils, reapers, scourge sometimes, holos and last but not the least the best class to run like a pussy, the spellbreaker. Surprisingly there is little to no ranger roamers in the servers i face against.
@@irobot9250 Those are not roamers, those are snippers from towers cheesing for participation for the rewards. Good rangers are quite OP but there's 0% chance to kill 4-5 players like thief can. Eventually after 15-20 secs max ranger will run out of shit cus theres 5 ppl hitting him, and he will die. And thats for a REALLY good ranger. A bad ranger will die instantly in 1-2 secs.
15:35 -This advice also is true IRL. a lot of times nothing happens and the montages (or social media highlights) do not reflect the actual situation. Life is all about how you assess the situation and make interesting situations happen.
I had one night where I was just out trying to do a daily in WvW and got jumped by 3 others twice, so I went to their home BL and started flipping camps and got into some fun fights while outnumbered. Very much a luck of the draw whether you win or lose some nights.

another factor in a montage is how good the opponents are.. many MANY times in montages if fights are easily won in outnumbered the opponent are average or lesser players
Just started playing GW2 for a couple of days now. Loving the mechanic of this game and the WvW seems very fun and unique to me. should I start as Revenant for WvW, but as a new player how hard will it get to master this class? Also, I am looking to get into the wvw guild as well, which class would they prefer? And should I join the server base on the guild as well?
rev is good for guild play, but it can be harder to learn. Would definitely recommend it either way. Guilds can be found by using map chat in WvW or just run with a commander and if you enjoy them ask if you can join their guild
what keybindes are you using for profession skills, swap weapons, call target, take traget, previous enemy, next enemy, about face, look behind? (I'm curious)

the best roamers are thiefs, rangers and mesmers, the rest are pretty far off cus they lack the stealth and the mobility compared to those 3 classes. Thief being Number 1, number 2 is probably ranger and 3 mesmer.
This video and my own WvW roaming experience has convinced me of 1 thing... stealth needs to be non-stackable. Highest duration override instead. Thieves are way too overtuned in wvw because no one can make use of the space as well as they can. Yeah rangers are braindead broken, yeah guardians may as well be asleep. I'm not saying thief is ez mode, but anyone who thinks they aren't unbelievably overpowered in wvw is delusional. You cannot do what was done in this video on an elementalist or warrior or engineer or even a mesmer. Yes you can still outplay on those classes, but it is way more intensive to do so since you cannot disengage instantly with permastealth and just wait for an opportunity to present. EDIT: I am also not saying that classes shouldn't have specialties. Yes a thief should probably be better at roaming than pretty much every other class. But a thief should not be able to pick off competent players as easily as they can. Even I, a terrible thief, can beat competent players if I am willing to annoy them enough. If you do enough harassments (and you always CAN. A thief that truly doesn't want to be caught CANNOT be caught by less than ~4 people) you can piss off the most level headed of professionals into making stupid decisions like going out hunting solo for you. You just need to be willing to harass for 35 minutes without losing interest. Other classes can put in twice the effort and get less than half the results, that's messed up, specialization or not.
Completly true... Those montages would NEVER happen with warrior or elementalist or even engineer. But mesmer COULD maybe do some stuff. Still way less than the thief, but mesmer has teleports, evades and stealth to make some stuff happen. Warriors on the other hand are complete garbage and can't do anything to those scenarios. The enemies will simply target him ALL at once and throw stuff at him, eventually stuff will hit and u will die, and there's no way for you to get kills and also stomp them. Even if the players are way worse than you, you wont be able to kill 4-5 of them at once, not a chance. Thief is broken in wvw, cus stealth mechanic is OP in wvw. In pvp things are different. I dont give a shit about thief's stealth. I got the node, what you're gonna do about it? come at me bitch. But in wvw... Thiefs are GODS It's not coicidence that all those "Self proclaimed" pro roamers are always thief players... Look at guilds Like SA.. basically thief guilds.

@@nateking510 first of all, most mrga clips were thiefs, noody simply chose to show us more variety. Also, he chose to show us the ELITE of the ELITES. For example that core ele that won the competition, or gypsi the revenant, they are truly masters with their classes. They will bring out results, BUT those are just clips.. the truth is that u don't know what truly happened. In a video, u cut and edit however it suits you. But in live streams u get to see how truly things go. Truth is that those players got rekt a lot during their montages. Then they cut and edit those that suited the more. But a thief will always bring result even at a lower skill level than the one gypsi has on his revenant. An average thief will bring good results actually and probably will never die. An average power shiro revenant SOLO roam will get REKT almost 100% of the time lol. On the other hand u had impressive clips like nephistos which was warrior, but his opponents were so crappy that it was hilarious to watch. honestly, mesmer bots are like.. A LOT stronger. But when he dueled imastria ( a good thief) he naturally got rekt.. But ofc those are not in his videos Anyway, my point and conclusion of this large text is : Don't believe the montages, it shows cut and edited results in a way that benefits the producer. If he got 1 impressive kill on a scourge, the truth behind it might be that he actually died 10 times in order for that 1 kill to go perfectly on his way and get the kill. Also, yes the best of the best players will bring results with their own class... class that they have been playing for years, but i am here to talk about the large % of the population.. not the 1%.
honestly i would give this video the respect it could deserve if you were with literally any other class.. Even mesmer. But with thief, in roaming situations... with SA, i mean...it's objectivly speaking, unkillable. Those 1v4s, 1v5s would be completly impossible with ANY other class with the exception of maybe mesmer and that's still a big IF. With thief u can do whatever the fuck you want if you know your shit. But if u know your shit with a warrior, u will still die to 5 players..

this is not realy much of a guide except the begining bits,all i see is if a veteran sees 4 players and there is no support he can go start killing in a 1v4,either your class is broken for WvW,all these players suck,or you are a god of gaming,how are you trying to explain to me that if i see 4 players i can identify they dont have a support and just go in like im tony montana,hate stealth so much btw,this is why i quit WoW,a single person in a battleground can do this kind of stuff,1v4 gimme a break,and if noone else is gonna go as tryhard as them he gonna keep doing it,props to you for the skilled plays,but can any class do this or just like 3 busted specialisations each patch?
People that find things "boring" usually do so, because they lack the necessary knowledge and/or skill to be good with it. Keep playing your pewpew ranger, it's fine.
