@@silv3762 ohh! Strangely nobody ever told me that until I noticed it myself!

If you go fast enough, legato's are inertial because the damper doesn't have time to fall down to the strings between notes. That happens in pretty much all of the fast Chopin and Liszt etudes. "Legato" double thirds are an interesting illusion too. Cantabile Octaves: move fast between notes. The perception of smoothness in scales and arpeggios is mainly a function of rhythmic regularity. This is a lot to unpack pianistically but the first principles come from physics and auditory perception.

Great video as always my friend! And that legato tip regarding arpeggios is very important! And you are right, not all teachers covers that part, my question to you is... Does that applies to rapid 3rds or 6th runs?

There's an arpeggio fingering from Penelope Roskell that works better than the standard one (For most arpeggios) (up 231 - 231 - 2312 - down 213 - 213 - 2132)

Yes , that fungering is very intuitive and very comfortable!

What do you think of the silent Virgil Practice Clavier with its variable key resistance, any good or no good ? Hardly anybody knows what one is these days and those who do know are sharply divided about their merits. My teacher in my youth was also a cabinetmaker and he restored one and sold it to me in 1968. I seriously doubt I would be playing the way I do at seventy-five had I not used it daily for over fifty years. At the same time I realise these devices are frowned on by most pianists and piano academics so a contradiction exists. It seems the only pianist of recent times who used one was Arrau; he swore by it and it certainly didn't do him any harm.

Hey! Thanks for the question ☺️ So I know what you're talking about, though I have never had a chance to try it myself, therefore, it's hard for me to have on opinion about the clavier... 🙂

for jumps: practice while carefully looking at the keys or (complete opposite) with closed eyes?
@UgniusPianist
