For some reason I always find greens to be the most difficult - especially just now with a new puppy and being the summer! I've got my own way of doing it (often badly) so this was absolutely fantastic! Love the channel and keep up the good work. Thank you.
I cant even begin to say how good this video was and helpful. I watched so many, but this one helped get real greens without punching the contrast or slapping someone elses preset. Thank you!
Brilliant, so much content and clear ho wto do this...ive been struggling with they way my greens look...now i know how to deal with them.Fab Jess thank you
Great video Jess and perfect timing as the green ferns in the forest are now at their most vibrant and certainly needs toning down when I am processing, learnt quite a bit on this tutorial so thank you 🙏.
Thank you so much for this video!! I hate editing greens and feel like I give up on so many photos because of it. I will be using this technique on all my greener photos from now on.
Oh my goodness, that was so helpful Jess! I have always struggled with greens. This is going to help made my images with greens less "frightening". :-). FYI, I love these 5 minute tutorials.
Glad you found this useful and yes greens can be difficult to deal with at times! Glad you are enjoying these 5 minute tutorials, even if we do run over ‘slightly’ 🙈
I’m a couple photographer and I just got a puppy, obviously gonna be a model 😅 I just want to say OMG, I’m watching your channel second day in a row, and I can’t stop. Love the way you explain everything in a simple and understandable option, I don’t remember watching such a good photog channel covering so much. Outdoor, studio, how and why, editing… and everything wrapped with you humour. Thank you so much, I hope one day my pics will come close to your quality 🥰🤟🏻
Thank you for such kind words and I hope you continue to enjoy our content and find it useful 😊 I can't wait to see some images of your little puppy .... how exciting!
I followed this one some of my older shots and I'm ashamed I ever sent them to clients. Thanks for the tutorial. Strangely enough I've never considered my greens not being green enough. It's an eyesore to look at past work now, but I guess that's part of improving.
Just recently found your channel 🙂 and I absolutely LOVE your work! And I love how you explain things! This was absolutely helpful to me even though I've shot for 10 years I still have problems with greens! Thank you for your awesome content!
Wooow thank you thank youuu! I was obsessed finding the right way to create that rich almost emerald green, and this video helped me to understand the basics!! Well done madam 🤌🤌🤌
Awesome video as always Jess!! Super helpful tip. Up until recently I've always embraced greens and really made things pop with extra vibrance etc but more recently I've actually started calming things down using only the HSL sliders. I'm definitely going to try adding in a few extra masks aswell like you did see what I can come up with.
The Camera Profiles are really interesting, a can't wait to play with it, great tip! Honestly, I struggle a lot more with editing orange tones or skin tones in my Lightroom edits for weddings. Mostly in retaining the real soft skin tones colors while altering everything else. Do you have or plan on a video about this?
Great video Jess, I discovered your channel a few days ago and must have watched about 8 hours of videos already 😂 you are brilliant and the videos are amazingly helpful and useful. I wondered, I have an A7rIV, what lenses would you recommend for dog portraiture when starting out? Thank you!
Thank you so much for those kind words 🙏 its so great to hear you are enjoying the content we put out there. For dog portraiture I think you would find this video super useful ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ybFpQ279ay0.html and there's a list of all the kit we use, including lenses 😊
Excellent and very informative. When you mention Camera profiles around 2:45 being Sony. How does it recognise its from a Sony? Does it recognise the extension .ARW or does it only show Sony profiles? You mentioned in one of your previous videos that Sony has a slight green preference I think. Is this the way of countering this instead of altering it each time.
Funny thing. As a mainly landscape photographer I go outside to embrace (!) the greens. They change with season, daytime, weather conditions and so on. Turning the leaves of a fresh fern to a dark blueish green to me is like changing the dog's orange tones to a nice intense pink. :-)
I just really love all your tutorials, I don’t feel like an absolute idiot trying to follow them, as I do with others 😂 I do however have a question. I photograph my Dalmatian almost exclusively, and I can never get these kind of photos/edits right, since the green and yellow will reflect heavily on her. Do you have any tips on how to save those photos? Or if you could do a tutorial of a white dog and how you would fix the shadows and white balance? I’m really struggling and would love your input!
So great to hear you are enjoying the content 😊 We have a video and an old blog post that should help you with this. Here are the links: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-toMYfMCb21M.html and www.thattogspot.com/how-to-photograph-a-white-dog/. Hope these help 😊
That was pretty helpful for 5 minutes ish. I never knew about the stars on the profiles; how useful is that little tip. Greens are always a pita, and I wonder if it's because of the preponderance of green cells in the sensor grid and using green for luminance. Where I live, green is mostly various shades of baby poo khaki, but still nasty and annoying to sort.
Another great video Jess! I agree that too much green can be painful :) I have got a weird question. What software do you use to preview BIG size photos when deciding what picture goes from your SD to your computer. So far I could not see the option to enlarge photos to see properly. I have a Mac and access to Adobe products. Ohh and thank you for the gear recommendation. Sony A9II with 70-200mm 2.8 GM II is a match made in heaven :)
My only issue is that my LRC doesn’t look like yours so I’m unable to do any of these steps 😢 Whhhhhyyyyyy does mine look different???? Even after being updated. Frustrated.
You might be using Lightroom instead of Lightroom Classic. You should be able to do most, if not all, of the adjustments here on there, they just might be in slightly different places :)
