‚Diary of a gabba‘
Big Idea:
The 3Boys1set traveled to the Netherlands, the heart of the gabba scene, to united with a lot of hardcore addicts. Our goal was to honour the one and only 3 Steps Ahead with a music video to his legendary track ‚Drop It‘. Even though the release was more than 20 years ago, hardcore still lives and we wanted to show that energy and love.

im 41 i was gabber from 1997 time these times were awsome. im stil gabber but i don't go to festivals anymore like i use to be when i was younger. i was at thunderdome to and sportpaleis antwerp shadowlands terrorist i was at the most party back in the days peppermill heerlen. i've also been on mystryland tunnel of terror 1997 i've been on a party were 3 Steps Ahead was so sad he past away.

Old school gabber dance?? Thats not correct everybody did a different dance. Almost nobody did the same dance on a rave. It was fun to watch, everybody did what they liked. The crazier the better

@@raw0302 Well no, it's not the *only* old school one. It's just older school than the new "backwards step" style which seems to be most of what I see now. This style is way closer to what I'm familiar with from the mid-90s. :)

@@kimifur in that time almost nobody danced like that, yeah in gabber tracks on tv for sure but on a rave no no. There is no oldskool style gabber dance everybody did his own thing that was the fun of it nobody give a damn in that era how you danced. What you see in this clip is gabber dance with a label! For sure you never been to a rave in the '90s

@@raw0302 Perhaps I'm not explaining very well. I only meant that they weren't doing the newer styles that seem to dominate these days, and this feels so much more like the old school stuff. Sure, most people didn't do this exact thing, but the spirit is there and the feeling is there and it reminds me so much of the raves I went to. My first rave was in 1998 and in the UK so I may well have had a different experience to you.

@@querpmuerp" in 1994 he was asked by ID&T to produce for their label. He selected a new name, 3 Steps Ahead, for productions together with Rob Fabrie (DJ Waxweazle) and Ed Bout (Holographic). The cooperation never took off and Rob and Peter-Paul created only two records together, titled "Step 1" and "Step2". They decided Peter-Paul would continue with the new name and Rob and Ed went their separate ways." From his DJ discog page. 👊❤️

Awesome intro, I'm Irish, but I lived in Rotterdam(pretorialaan 16b1) for 17 years way back in the day, used to love going to Hardcore parties on Kievitslaan and in the Energiehal, great times, great people and vibes. You miss it more and more the older you get, enjoy your youth, it only happens once!!

Its funny to me as a dutchman how far hardcore has reached. would have never expected that hardcore was popular in mexico or anywhere outside of europe to be honest. Mostly would be stuck in the netherlands (where it is created ofc) Germany Belgium and ofc france. but thats about it. But yeah cool to see everyone around the world enjoying our created music and dance ofc. we did something right from a small country like the netherlands haha

Ik heb de opkomst van hardcore meegemaakt vanaf de underground fase, het eerste vinyl, de eerste longsleeves (Dwarf records, Mokum, RTC), aussies en natuurlijk de eerste Nike Air Max.. maar bovenal hakken, 24 jaren na mijn eerste feesten zoals Earthquake, Thunderdome 1, etc (jezus, lang geleden, wat ben ik snel oud) is het mooi te zien dat jongeren nog steeds in die stijl die dit doen! Respect voor de makers, de dames in de video’s voor het zijn van zichzelf want daar gaat hardcore over: fun hebben met anderen, ongeacht wat anderen van je buitenkant vinden. Ik ben 45 jaar, hak nog steeds, heb bakken met vinyl en heb recent een Dano Buzz Fuzz shirt gekocht, gewoon omdat gaaf blijft. KEEP THE HARDCORE ALIVE YOUNG PEOPLE! respect van deze ouwe gabber 🫡 (als ik hakte keek iedereen, unieke eigen stijl in combinatie met The Prodigy breakbeat moves zoals in No Good, Out of Space, wie weet moet ik ook maar in een video om anderen wat nieuws te leren 🫣) ❤️

Love the video! I was too young to enjoy the gabber scene (was mostly a jumpstyle/shuffle kid), but I love seeing when rave scenes and dances styles live on, even if our knees don't.
