How could they even consider an interference call when the third baseman and catcher where there in plenty to discuss how they neither wanted to catch the ball?!
That interference call was bullsh!t. They didn't catch it because the catcher and third baseman ran into each other. That rule has to change. Mealer didn't do anything that any runner would do on contact.
Bama trying to save face with that interference call. Catcher is the captain on the field, but she should have known the shortstop had a better read on it and backed off. Pardon my term, but that was just piss-poor defense by Bama. Vols playing two teams...Bama and the Umps. Thanks Matt!!
Good win for TN. Yes, they had a lot of help from Bama, but their bats put them in position. Looks like moving Kiki Malloy to leadoff has help bring her back mentally. Her bat was very quiet; uncharacteristically so. Her work in the OF was always stellar, but her bat and base running looked... off. But she looked better today: very aggressive base running and 2-4 at bat. TN needs her leadership to win in the post season. I agree: The interference call at 3B was BS... and Bama lost anyway. One last thing: It is good to see C Sofia Nugent really contributing to the Lady Vols. She was an excellent back up at OU. TN is letting her shine. Cool! Matt: As always, good work. If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, Alabama never met a pop up they didn't like 🤷 Do they even have a hitting coach?! You're right Orcslayer, they are the pop up queens 🙄
I don't know what has happened to the Alabama softball atmosphere and/or environment under Coach Murphy. Since the era of Bailey Hemphill it seems the it has deteriorated from a top tier program to an average one!
