Actually there are two different things in procreate one is streamline and the other is called smoothing. Streamline helps with wobbly-ness and smoothing helps with the pressure changes looking more coherent. Streamline is in the “stroke path” setting and smoothing is in “Apple Pencil” (I’m going to assume it only works for the Apple Pencil-) however, yes what the video refers to as smoothing is called streamline in procreate (it’s so confusing Q_Q)
I use an art program called Krita, it's just photoshop, but only the art aspects of it (+ it's free) You can press Ctrl>B for the color slider, and the stabilizer for line art is in the brushes option. I recommend weighted or stabilized for longer lines 10/10 would recommend Ctrl>G to create a mask layer M to flip the canvas
@@MissMissyArt you can change the stabilizer in the tool options of the brush tool (B on the keyboard) but theres also a dynamic brush too that looks like a curved arrow with a dot in the center that allows you to draw with some weight on it. Try it out!
In the thumbnail the lineart varies (line weight) and the left one there’s only soft shadows while in the right one there’s both hard and soft shadows to make it look less messy and more realistic
I was always shitty in doing shadows and highlights and always looked upon a simple tips... Your video was just right for for and my works improved dramatically by just following these steps... THANKS NADIAXEL
TIP: When colouring make a new layer on top of it and put it on clipping mask! It will make it way easier to colour! Also thank you so much for the Tips they really helped :3
I usually create a new layer under the line art, select the background with wand, invert selection, and then color the area gray and lock the layer. Since clipping masks are kinda complicated in Krita.
It’s not wrong! You can’t do art wrong (unless u are in an art school) If that’s how you like to render, then that’s YOUR preference,,,and with time, you’ll find your style, Both drawing and coloring :)
Quick tip for AutoDesk Sketchbook users: Apart from the Stroke stabilizer, which in the program is called predictive stroke, there is also a similar tool called steady stroke. I have used a non-screen and screen tablet with the program on windows and either way it works just as well. I actually worried bat one point that I couldn't use it just because of my tablet but it works well on any device.
I'm SO glad you added medibang as an option for showing where smoothing is 🥺 I just ordered my first art tablet, screenless, and it's coming in 5 days and I used medibang as my first art program! Switched to iPad and procreate and I did not like procreate :( sooo I'm switching to computer! :)
This video was beyond helpful. I’ve been struggling with shading especially since my colors always end up so blurred together. Now I know I need to chill out on using the color dropper and don’t be afraid to use some semi solid lines
Shading is something I can never get right, this really honestly did help. I'm glad there's people like you making our lives a little bit easier. Thankyou so much :D
As an oldtimer illustrator (traditional art school) I decided to get more skillfull on digital medium. To be honest it was a bit hard at first because I was trying by myself and learning "tips & bits" from friends and my younger art students. Later from RU-vid where I did really started to see a faster progress in my digital skills. Have to say that your channel its truly one of my favorites. Your art is really great and very similar to what I want as a final result in my artwork. You don't pretend to know it all and your advice might be simple but truly useful. Thanks for taking your time putting up these videos. Until your next video. Cheers from Puerto Rico.
If you’re on procreate: select the brush you want “smoothed”, go to “streamline” and put up the setting to your liking. I promise you’ll never have wobbly lines.
8:28 I feel like that specific drawing and shading style make for a bad example of this problem because it looks kinda neat lol. The places where it shows the most how bad they really look are with really bright and/or pastel colors and soft shading; like when you use the black airbrush to shade yellow and it looks yucky y'know?
I see some nice tips here i will try to do them next time i draw. I will save this video to come back to tomorrow so i can refresh my mind i forget things really easily.
If I had to be honest.Ibispaint is an amazing digital art app.It is really easy to understand the app and it gives a tutorial for those who are new to the app.Its not that laggy and it also has stabiliser and many brushes for you to use.The channel also gives really good tips on art and I really recommend it for mobile users,
lately i've been getting really discouraged about digital art, you know.. i always have a lot of sketching ideas and i can put it anywhere, i can work well with sketches and line art, i'm very excited when i start to draw something but when i'm going to paint, even knowing how to use the layers, ugh, IT'S TERRIBLE, no matter how many times I try, I can't finish it cause I didn't know how to do it, even if I look at examples, videos, shadow and light tutorials, even if I search for good colors for use, IT ALWAYS IS VERY BAD, I don't understand and it makes me tired, in the end I'm just accumulating unfinished sketchs, I don't know how to try to make it work anymore kkkkk 😅😰 love ur arts
@ Mariana Vitoria try starting over from square one, take a break, choose a different color palate, make sure to check your color values, and be sure to acknowledge your mistakes, sometimes its ok to move on.
😲 Wow!! Her explaining I just so amazing ❤️❤️ I don't do digital art but now I gotta say after watching this video Digital is easy (I know it's not but she made it look so easy)❤️❤️❤️🎉
this was so helpful, I look forward to my future when it comes to drawing because there is so much you can do with digital art, and I want to get into the trend of using digital rather than using paper which can show mistakes when you draw to hard or too light. so thank you for making this video, completely changed my view in switching to digital! keep up the good work :)
I believe that I would have had a much better experience with digital art if I had known so many of your tips n tricks! I hope you have enough engagement with this video! You are so generous and kind showing your viewers how to create wonderful digital artworks! Keep going just as you are Nadia! Have a lovely day!
With the 3rd technique I usually put the shade/shadow in black but change the color on my software to see what fits the artwork best. And I do the same for highlights.
This video it’s super useful for me!! I’ve been looking everywhere for a useful video on shading and you have helped me so much ☺️, love your drawings btw you have a really beautiful style 🥰
I would just like to say that I'm currently using your tips to make a new character and so far, the lineart is beautiful so thanks for making this video!
Me staring at the thumbnail like "Dang the one on the right looks so good... and the left... I don't do it that bad right...?" *takes first, second, third... eighth look* "Shiiiiaaaa- that IS how I do it ain't it"
what i like to do with my shading is make hard shading layer, duplicate it and on the duplicated layer i use the blend tool (in clipstudio paint pro) ajust the layers' opacity until i feel it looks nice, I use multiply, NOTE i usually use Ctrl + U to change the colour of the shading layers till it looks like the effect im going for, i have really bad art blok right now so im not drawing as much, so dont be afraid to take a break!
