About reasonable expectations: I started at 29. Now I am 32, and I know for sure that I will never win a race because I am too old and have too little experience (and my budget isn't very good, at least for now). However, if you have an opportunity to race, do it. Just have fun. It's so cool when you turn into a corner at much higher speed that you did previously, when you fight for a position, when you overtake... It all feels incredible.
How great are Dads! Despite all the man bashing and female empowering going in the world, we all know how valuable Dads are. They’re the ones who encourage us, who spend the time allowing us to chase our dreams, who foot the bill, who share our triumphs and who are proud of us whether we win or not.
The thing with racing on an old chassis and an old engine, would you still recommend doing that? Like tho it’s not competitive still take part just to learn or rather just do testing for learning?
I started with a very old Rotax Max engine and a very old TonyKart chassis, and I think it was a good decision because using a more performant engine or a newer chassis is... meaningless. I couldn''t push it hard enough, I needed to grow into that stuff, probably. But that's just me. Maybe, in your case, it would be best to start on all new.
I bought an old no-name "formula A" chassis that was probably built in the 90's. bought it for a steal from a guy who got too busy to race it and it had been collecting dust in his garage after he blew his engine. I just started out with this but it's the craziest thing I've ever put my cheeks on. I don't really plan on racing this, but if I can find some historic cup sorta thing I'll definitely try it out. I just wanna have fun and this was the simplest thing I could get my hands on
I have a tonykart now and a praga before. I find it much easier to get the OTK to reach its full potential. I feel like its abit softer then the ipk. I think its alot about driver preference
