great advice i just started my gaming channel and feel like im struggling to find my voice between being super critical of my self and nervous of recording myself regardless how much my friends have encouraged me
The Quirky Inquiry I really appreciate the compliment. I just started this channel a few months back and slowly but surely getting new subs like you! :) glad you dig the content.
It's great that you're carrying your professional skills in cinematography and photography into a RU-vid channel. So you're not completely starting from the ground up.
The Quirky Inquiry Truth be told, I'm brand new to the whole world of video and cinematography. I started the channel not knowing much about shooting video or editing. And if I'm being REALLY honest, I've been SUPER camera shy my entire life. Starting to get over that fear now. But yes, I'm a creative a heart, so that's a nice foundation to start from. :)
Nice! Looking forward to more awesome videos. After watching your video, I vlogged in public and overcame my fear this morning ! Thank you for the great advice!
That is true!!! Just go with the flow!! Don’t have a script!!! I started doing that last night dropping of my wife and daughter at lax!! Just started talking to my GoPro!!! Good video and good info
Unofficial Bucket List Family awesome! That’s what you got to do. It took me a little while getting use to talking to the camera, but like anything practice helps.
1. No script (maybe bullet points) 2. Distract yourself while recording 3. Keep rolling when you fumble Great stuff man! Appreciate these insights and i totally agree with each of them! Starting out doing vlogs (or any recording for that matter) in public can be daunting and it’s natural to feel self conscious but with enough practice you can build up that muscle to just push through and really start to feel comfortable. Eventually even someone really shy and introverted will break through and discover their authentic voice! It’s important to remember that these feelings of doubt and self consciousness are pretty much universal but they can be overcome with sheer practice and perseverance! Thanks again!
317 Aerials ha! Thanks for the compliment. Regardless of whether I blow up or not, I’m having a damn fun time creating these videos and pushing through my comfort zones. Glad to hear it’s inspiring you to start your channel.
I still think it’s important to write a script to get a general idea and structure of your video. You don’t have to follow it exactly but it’s a good foundation.
I have never used a script I tend to record what I want to say and listen to it while heading to my location. Def loves these tips after watching your vlog in public video and now this! I may just end up doing that today got an idea up my sleeve.
Thanks Kevin! You left me some great feedback through #nosmallcreator so I rushed to your channel and found even more great tips. Personality on camera is not easy to pull off, especially for me. You do a great job with it. Kudos
Garage Time - Auto Resto you’re very welcome for the feedback. I love feedback myself so appreciate when others ask for it. And yes, personality on camera is a challenge. I’m definitely still working on it but miles ahead of my first videos. Thanks for checking out my channel. 👊🏼
danielle donato I just what you mean and feel the same thing. I don’t care as much filming in front of strangers, but yeah, I do feel a bit awkward too filming in front of family.
IssaGamer ha! I’m glad I make it look easy because it certainly didn’t feel easy the moment I stepped out the door with my camera. Ya just have to say F-it! And go for it. :)
Sam Raspy thanks for calling me out! :) No, I didn’t quit. Honestly, I moved a couple months ago and it totally threw me off. The good news is that I have my own little RU-vid Studio room all set up now. So you’ll be seeing a lot more from me VERY VERY soon.
I think my hardest thing in vloging is speaking in english,I know the english language good, but when you on camera its feels like I don't know english so good😀As you said, when you forgot what you want to say,I want to stop recording and then start again😀 Thank you fro tips!
Let's Travel I’m sure that’s a challenge when English isn’t your first language. Kudos to you for still going for it. I’m sure most people don’t. Glad one of the tips in the video helped. :)
