Trooping the Colour 2011 - Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Parade - BBC
After receiving a Royal Salute, she inspects her troops of the Household Division, both Foot Guards and Horse Guards.
Each year, one of the Foot Guards regiments is selected to troop their colour through the ranks of guards. Then the entire assembly of Household Division conducts a March Past around the Parade past the Queen, who receives their salute from the Saluting Base. (The Mounted Troops perform a Walk March and a Trot Past, and the King's Troop rank by with their guns, which are their colour.)

Yeah would be hard work but it certainly shows in the spectacular display of precision marching and discipline and the fine music these excellent musicians perform , there is nothing more exciting than to stand there and visually absorb and hear her majesty’s guards I love all the divisions but my favourite are the lifeguards and blues and royals

@1302Viv No that's the Field Officer, he's the guy who does most of the shouting on parade. The Duke has no actual involvement in the parade.

apparently any commonwealth citizen can join the British forces, but you'll need to check on the MOD Army site

All of the enlisted troopers appear to be mounted on dark-colored (black/brown) horses, the officers are some dark and some light. Is that regulation or coincidence?

@cogidubnus1953 Oh, I'm not arguing that, cogidubnus, I am the wife of a former serving soldier and the mother of a currently serving one. So you may grant me that I am fully aware of a soldier's allegiance with his monarch, but even though I fully understand and respect this allegiance, there's is this nurturing part of me that made me make this comment. Sorry, if I have offended you in any way, I did not intend to.
